Installation of the Wing-Tip Fence

- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.

THIS PART IS A REMOVABLE STRUCTURAL COMPONENT (RSC), WHICH CAN BE MOVED BETWEEN AIRCRAFT. THUS IT CAN HAVE DIFFERENT OPERATION CONDITIONS AND A DIFFERENT LIFE RECORD (FLIGHT HOURS/FLIGHT CYCLES/CALENDAR) FROM THE AIRCRAFT IT IS INSTALLED ON OR REMOVED FROM. A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the applicable wing-tip, zone 534 (634).
Subtask 57-31-22-865-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS is correctly installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) is in position below the applicable wing-tip, zone 534 (634).

Subtask 57-31-22-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Preparation for the Installation
(1) Remove the remaining sealant from the wing-tip (11), the wing-tip fence (3) and access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the wing-tip (11), the wing-tip fence (3) and access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9).
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If necessary, install the barrel nuts (1) and (2) as follows:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove sealant from the holes for the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(b) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the holes for the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(c) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(d) Install the barrel nuts (1) and (2) into the holes, with the slot at the bottom. Align the holes for the bolts (5).
(5) Make sure that the bolts (5) are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
Subtask 57-31-22-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the remaining sealant from the wing-tip (11), the wing-tip fence (3) and access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(2) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the wing-tip (11), the wing-tip fence (3) and access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9).
(3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(4) If necessary, install the barrel nuts (1) and (2) as follows:
(a) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove sealant from the holes for the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(b) Use the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the holes for the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(c) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the barrel nuts (1) and (2).
(d) Install the barrel nuts (1) and (2) into the holes, with the slot at the bottom. Align the holes for the bolts (5).
(5) Make sure that the bolts (5) are in the correct condition (Ref. AMM TASK 20-21-11-911-001).
B. Installation of the Wing-Tip Fence
(1) Put the wing-tip fence (3) in position on the wing-tip (11) and hold it.
(2) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the bolts (5).
(3) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(4) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 3.3 and 2.7 m.daN (24.34 and 19.91 lbf.ft )

(5) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- High strength - (Material No.05BAJ1) or Acrylic Adhesive-Non Structural One Part High viscosity - (Material No.05DMC2) on the wing-tip fence (3), where the locking plates (6) and (10) attach.
(6) Install the locking plates (6) and (10). If necessary, adjust the TORQUE of the bolts (5) (in the permitted range), to align the bolts (5) with the locking plates (6) and (10).
(7) Measure the clearances at the top and bottom interfaces of the wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3):
(9) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength Low viscosity - (Material No.05BAB1) on the bolts (8).
(10) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) along the interface of wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3), to make a smooth continuous joint.
(11) Apply Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) and Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) along the interface of each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3).
(12) Install access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the bolts (8).
(13) Tighten the bolts (8).
(14) Make sure that all the clearances between each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3) are filled with the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
Subtask 57-31-22-420-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the wing-tip fence (3) in position on the wing-tip (11) and hold it.
(2) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the bolts (5).
(3) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(4) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 3.3 and 2.7 m.daN (24.34 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
. (5) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- High strength - (Material No.05BAJ1) or Acrylic Adhesive-Non Structural One Part High viscosity - (Material No.05DMC2) on the wing-tip fence (3), where the locking plates (6) and (10) attach.
(6) Install the locking plates (6) and (10). If necessary, adjust the TORQUE of the bolts (5) (in the permitted range), to align the bolts (5) with the locking plates (6) and (10).
(7) Measure the clearances at the top and bottom interfaces of the wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3):
- dimension X (forward of STA WTY 315.0 and aft of STA WTY 799.0) must be between 1 mm (0.04 in.) and 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) over the areas of the filler blocks
- dimension Y (between STA WTY 315.0 and STA WTY 799.0) must be smaller than 1 mm (0.04 in.).
(9) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength Low viscosity - (Material No.05BAB1) on the bolts (8).
(10) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) along the interface of wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3), to make a smooth continuous joint.
(11) Apply Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) and Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) along the interface of each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3).
(12) Install access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the bolts (8).
(13) Tighten the bolts (8).
(14) Make sure that all the clearances between each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3) are filled with the Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
B. Installation of the Wing-Tip Fence
(1) Put the wing-tip fence (3) in position on the wing-tip (11) and hold it.
(2) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the bolts (5).
(3) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(4) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 3.3 and 2.7 m.daN (24.34 and 19.91 lbf.ft )

(5) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- High strength - (Material No.05BAJ1) or Acrylic Adhesive-Non Structural One Part High viscosity - (Material No.05DMC2) on the wing-tip fence (3) where the locking plates (6) and (10) attach.
(6) Install the locking plates (6) and (10). If necessary, adjust the TORQUE of the bolts (5) (in the permitted range), to align the bolts (5) with the locking plates (6) and (10).
(7) Measure the clearances at the top and bottom interfaces of the wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3) and make sure that:

(11) Apply Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) and Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) along the interface of each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3).
(12) Install access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the bolts (8).
(13) Tighten the bolts (8).
(14) Make sure that all the clearances between each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3) are filled with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
5. Close-up(1) Put the wing-tip fence (3) in position on the wing-tip (11) and hold it.
(2) Apply a layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) on the bolts (5).
(3) Install the washers (4) and the bolts (5).
(4) TORQUE the bolts (5) to between 3.3 and 2.7 m.daN (24.34 and 19.91 lbf.ft )
. (5) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- High strength - (Material No.05BAJ1) or Acrylic Adhesive-Non Structural One Part High viscosity - (Material No.05DMC2) on the wing-tip fence (3) where the locking plates (6) and (10) attach.
(6) Install the locking plates (6) and (10). If necessary, adjust the TORQUE of the bolts (5) (in the permitted range), to align the bolts (5) with the locking plates (6) and (10).
(7) Measure the clearances at the top and bottom interfaces of the wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3) and make sure that:
- Dimension X (forward of STA WTY 315.0 and aft of STA WTY 799.0) is between 1 mm (0.04 in.) and 2.5 mm (0.10 in.) over the areas of the filler blocks.
- Dimension Y (between STA WTY 315.0 and STA WTY 799.0) must be smaller than 1 mm (0.04 in.).
(9) Apply Threadlocking Adhesive-- Low strength Low viscosity - (Material No.05BAB1) on the bolts (8).
(10) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) along the interface of wing-tip (11) and the wing-tip fence (3), to make a smooth continuous joint.
(11) Apply Release Agent-- Water Base - (Material No.14DAB1) and Polysulfide Sealant-Fuel Tank Fillet - (Material No.06ABB1) along the interface of each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3).
(12) Install access covers 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the bolts (8).
(13) Tighten the bolts (8).
(14) Make sure that all the clearances between each access cover 534BL( 634BR) (7) and 534AL( 634AR) (9) and the wing-tip fence (3) are filled with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(4) Remove the access platform(s).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
(6) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
