A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002) or the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.
   (4) Install the wing safety rope (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).

B. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 500(600).

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the applicable inspection area.

B. General Visual Inspection of Outer Wing, Top Skin, Upper Surface at Attachments to Ribs and Stringers Between RIB 8 and RIB 27 from Front Spar to Rear Spar
   (1) Examine and make sure that:
  • There is no corrosion
  • There are no dents, burrs, scores or scratches
  • The rivets and fasteners are in the correct condition
  • The surface protection is not damaged or loose.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the wing safety rope (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
   (3) Remove the access platform(s).

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the safety barriers.
   (2) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002) or the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
