1. Reason for the JobNOTE: This procedure gives instructions to repair the damaged frame of the sliding window in the seal area.
NOTE: This procedure is applicable to the glass sliding window (SPS supplier, P/N SPS...).

A. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 210, in front of the applicable sliding window.
(2) Open the applicable sliding window (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-010-001).

A. Preparation for the Repair Procedure
(1) Clean the seal area with Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) and Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .

B. Repair of the Damaged Frame in the Seal Area
(1) Examine the metallic parts of the frame in the seal area for damage (nicks, impacts or corrosion).
(a) Use the BLASTING EQUIPMENT (plastic media blasting-method) to remove the paint from the frame where you found the damage.
(b) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the frame where you found the damage.
(c) Measure and record the location and depth of the damage.
(d) Do a liquid penetrant inspection to see if there is more damage NTM 518000.
(e) Blend out the damage to a minimum of 20 times its depth SRM 517400.
(f) The distance between the damage and the hole(s)/fastener(s) adjacent to it must be a minimum of 10 times the damage depth.
(g) For the rivet impact damage along the outer edge of the three retaining or adaptation rings:
(i) Apply Primer Epoxy Paint-- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04DAB2) on the frame (manufacturer's request).
(3) If the damage is more than the limits above, replace the damaged component. Discard the damaged component or send it back to the supplier.
5. Close-up(1) Examine the metallic parts of the frame in the seal area for damage (nicks, impacts or corrosion).
NOTE: The maximum limits of the damage from area A are as follows:
- Depth: 0.635 mm (0.025 in.)
- Length: 25.4 mm (1.000 in.)
- Width: 19.05 mm (0.750 in.).
NOTE: The maximum limits of the damage from area B are as follows:
(2) If the damage (nicks, impacts or corrosion) is less than the limits, you must do this repair procedure: - Depth: 0.050 mm (0.002 in.)
- Length: 25.4 mm (1.000 in.)
- Width: 19.05 mm (0.750 in.).
(a) Use the BLASTING EQUIPMENT (plastic media blasting-method) to remove the paint from the frame where you found the damage.
(b) Use the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC to remove the sealant from the frame where you found the damage.
(c) Measure and record the location and depth of the damage.
(d) Do a liquid penetrant inspection to see if there is more damage NTM 518000.
(e) Blend out the damage to a minimum of 20 times its depth SRM 517400.
(f) The distance between the damage and the hole(s)/fastener(s) adjacent to it must be a minimum of 10 times the damage depth.
(g) For the rivet impact damage along the outer edge of the three retaining or adaptation rings:
- You can extend the chamfer along the outer edge to remove the damage.
(i) Apply Primer Epoxy Paint-- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04DAB2) on the frame (manufacturer's request).
(3) If the damage is more than the limits above, replace the damaged component. Discard the damaged component or send it back to the supplier.

B. Close Access
(1) Close the sliding windows (Ref. AMM TASK 56-12-11-410-001).
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
