B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
WARNING: PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
  • THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
  • THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
  • COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
MOVEMENT OF COMPONENTS CAN KILL OR CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
   (1) Depressurize the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-001), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-002), (Ref. AMM TASK 29-10-00-864-003).
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 12M (40 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position at Zone 326.

D. Preparation for Inspection
F Honeycomb Core of the Rudder side panel, LH/RH
   (1) Make sure that the surfaces of the inspection areas are clean and smooth.
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
   (2) If necessary, clean the inspection areas with the Non Aqueous Cleaner-Non structural use - - (Material No.08BPA1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACES. THE COMPONENTS ARE MADE OF CARBONFIBER REINFORCED PLASTIC.
   (3) If necessary, make the surface of the inspection areas smooth with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 280).
   (4) Make sure that you can clearly see the positions of the rivets in the inspection areas.
   (5) If necessary, remove the paint from the rivets in the inspection areas SRM 517511
   (6) Make sure the inspection areas are clean and dry before you continue.
   (7) If you find damage :
  • refer to the ASRM SRM 554100 for the necessary data.
4. Procedure
Subtask 55-40-00-220-050-A
A. Special Detailed Inspection
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of honeycomb core of the rudder side panel, LH/RH. Use the Thermographic Inspection procedure NTM 554008 to inspect the rudder side panels for trapped water inside the honeycomb core cells.
   (2) If you find damage, refer to the ASRM SRM 554100 for the necessary data.
