GENERAL VISUAL INSPECTION OF EMERGENCY EXITS SKIN CUTOUTS, UPPER AND LOWER CORNERS, LH/RH
NOTE: The effectivity of this task is "ALL". To know if this task is applicable to your aircraft, refer to the MPD task applicability. The information on weight variant groups is given in the MPD and SRM introductions.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 53-31-00-010-143-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Get Access
   (1) Remove applicable overwing emergency door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-61-000-802).
   (2) Remove the sealant from the lateral hinge fairings (1) and the fuselage hinge fairings (2) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
   (3) Remove the lateral hinge fairings (1):
     (a) Remove the nuts (6) and the bolts (3).
     (b) Remove the lateral hinge fairings (1) from the aircraft structure.
   (4) Remove the fuselage hinge fairings (2):
     (a) Remove the bolts (4), the screws (5) and the nuts (6).
     (b) Remove the fuselage hinge fairings (2) from the aircraft structure.

B. Preparation of the Inspection Area
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
   (2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) and a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 53-31-00-210-111-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a general visual inspection of the cutouts at the upper and lower corners of the overwing emergency exits for damage or discontinuities.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
  • If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
  • If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
5. Close-up
Subtask 53-31-00-410-140-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Apply a thin layer of Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Interfay - (Material No.06AAC1) to the threads of the screws (5), bolts (3) and (4), and to the mating surfaces of the hinges (1) and (2).
   (2) Install the fuselage hinge fairings (2):
     (a) Put the fuselage hinge fairings (2) in position and install the screws (5), the bolts (4) and the nuts (6).
     (b) Tighten the screws (5).
     (c) Tighten the nuts (6).
   (3) Install the lateral hinge fairings (1):
     (a) Put the lateral hinge fairings (1) in position and install the bolts (3) and the nuts (6).
     (b) Tighten the nuts (6).
   (4) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) to the upper and lower edges of all the hinges.
   (5) Fill the spaces between all the hinges with Polysulfide Sealant-General Purpose Fillet - (Material No.06AAB1) .
   (6) Install applicable overwing emergency door 833 ( 843) or 834 ( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-61-400-802).
   (7) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
