CAUTION: IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU OPEN THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR, RECORD ON THE WORK CARD ON THE DOOR, THE DATE AND TIME WHEN YOU OPENED IT. IF THE CARGO COMPARTMENT DOOR STAYS OPEN FOR 12 HOURS OR MORE, YOU MUST BLEED THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM RELATED TO IT. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE PRECAUTIONS, THE DOOR CAN CLOSE SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SET THE DOOR TO "CLOSE". THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DOOR AND TO THE AIRCRAFT STRUCTURE.

A. Get Access
(1) Make sure that applicable forward or aft cargo compartment door (referred in this procedure to as the "cargo door") is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position at the cargo door.

4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Safety Support Equipment

NOTE: If you removed the door actuator or the related attachment fittings, only steps (1) and (2) are necessary. If you did not remove the door actuator or the related attachment fittings, only step (1) is necessary.

(1) Install the 98D52307515000 SAFETY LOCK-ACTUATOR,CARGO DOORS on the door actuator as follows:

Safety Lock on the Forward Cargo-Compartment Door

Safety Lock on the Aft Cargo-Compartment Door ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Remove the knurled screws and open the safety lock.
(b) Put the safety lock on the door actuator piston and close the safety lock.
(c) Install the knurled screws and tighten them.
(2) If necessary, install the 98D52307524000 STRUT-SUPPORT,CARGO DOORS as follows:

NOTE: The 98D52307524000 STRUT-SUPPORT,CARGO DOORS contains two support struts 98D52307524040.

Support Struts on the Forward Cargo-Compartment Door

Support Struts on the Aft Cargo-Compartment Door ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(a) Install the two support struts together: one strut on each side of the cargo door, between the fuselage frame and the cargo door.
(b) Put the short support strut-end on the fuselage frame and install the pip pins in the attachment holes.
(c) Loosen the jam nuts to adjust the length of the support struts.
(d) Put the long support strut-end on the support fittings at the lateral edge members of the cargo door.
(e) Turn the spindle until the holes in the long support strut-end and the holes in the support fittings are aligned.
(f) Install the pip pins in the support fittings to attach the long support strut-end to the lateral edge members.
(g) Tighten the jam nuts to keep the same length of the support struts.

5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
