1. Reason for the Job
To adjust the overwing emergency-exit door immediately after the replacement of the door/door components or if there is a door malfunction.
NOTE: The values given in this procedure are not applicable for the general inspection/checks.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
   (3) Do the special precaution before you work on the offwing escape-slide system (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-00-481-001).
   (4) In the cockpit, put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.

C. Get Access
   (1) Remove the lining of the overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-000-803).
   (2) Remove the applicable cove light panel (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-48-000-001).
   (3) Remove the applicable insulation (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-000-001).
   (4) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position near overwing emergency-exit door 833(843) or 834(844).
   (5) Put on a safety harness:
WARNING: YOU MUST PUT ON AND ATTACH A SAFETY HARNESS BEFORE YOU START WORK:
  • ON THE THS OR IN THE REAR FUSELAGE
  • ON TOP OF THE WINGS OR PYLONS.
WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
     (a) Install the individual pad system (Ref. AMM TASK 12-00-00-481-002).
     (b) Put on and attach the HARNESS, SAFETY before you start work in the work area.
4. Procedure
Subtask 52-22-00-820-064-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Adjustment of the Lateral Clearances
   (1) Measure lateral clearances L1 thru L7 between the overwing emergency-exit door and the door frame with the CALIPER and the GAGE - FEELER:
  • Lateral clearance L1 must be 4 -2 mm or +1.5 mm (0.1575 -0.0787 in. or +0.0591 in.).
  • Lateral clearance L2 must be 4 -1.5 mm or +2 mm (0.1575 -0.0591 in. or +0.0787 in.).
  • Lateral clearances L3, L4 and L5 must be 4 -1.5 mm or +1.5 mm (0.1575 -0.0591 in. or +0.0591 in.).
  • Lateral clearance L6 must be 4.5 -1 mm or +1 mm (0.1772 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.).
  • Bottom clearance L7 must be 2.5 -0.5 mm or +1 mm (0.0984 -.0197 in. or +0.0394 in.).
   (2) If these clearances are larger or smaller than permitted, remove the overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-61-000-802).
   (3) Adjust the thickness of the adjustment shims between the two piano hinge halves:
     (a) Make sure that you use the correct shims AIPC 52-21-84-30.
     (b) Use the values from the SHIMMING TABLE for the piano hinge.
   (4) Install the overwing emergency-exit door (
Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-61-400-802).
   (5) Close overwing emergency-exit door 833( 843) or 834( 844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (6) Measure lateral clearances L1 thru L7 again and make sure that they are correct.
Subtask 52-22-00-820-065-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Adjustment of the Skin Offset
NOTE: The most FWD and most AFT hooks (1) must touch the rear of the rollers (2). The clearance between the middle hooks and the rear of the rollers is 0 -0 mm or +0.25 mm (0.0000 +0.0000 in. or +0.0098 in.).
   (1) Measure skin offsets S1 thru S4:
  • Skin offset S1 must be -3.8 -0.8 mm or +0.8 mm (-0.1496 -0.0315 in. or +0.0315 in.)
  • Skin offset S2 must be -5 -0.8 mm or +0.8 mm (-0.1969 -0.0315 in. or +0.0315 in.)
  • Skin offset S3 must be -1.6 -0.8 mm or +0.8 mm (-0.0630 -0.0315 in. or +0.0315 in.)
  • Bottom offset S4 must be 0.4 -0.8 mm or +0.8 mm (0.0157 -0.0315 in. or +0.0315 in.).
   (2) If these skin offsets are larger or smaller than permitted, adjust the locking hooks (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-820-803).
   (3) Measure skin offsets S1 thru S4 again and make sure that they are correct.
Subtask 52-22-00-820-067-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Adjustment of the X-Stops
   (1) Measure clearances A and B between the door-side counterpart (5) and structure side (6) of the x-stops with CALIPER and GAGE - FEELER:
  • Clearance A must be 3 +0 mm or -0.5 mm (0.1181 +0.0000 in. or -0.0197 in.)
  • Clearance B must be 3.5 +0.3 mm or -0 mm (0.1378 +0.0118 in. or +0.0000 in.).
   (2) If these clearances are larger or smaller than permitted, do the steps that follow:
     (a) Remove the x-stops:
       1 Use the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the sealant:
  • Around the x-stop assembly (6)
  • Between the x-stop assembly (6) and the structure
  • On the heads of the bolts (8) and the nuts (9).
       2 Remove the nuts (9), the washers (7) and the bolts (8).
       3 Remove the x-stop assembly (6) from the structure.
     (b) Change the thickness of the adjustment shims:
     (c) Install the x-stops:
       1 Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-Medium Temp. Area Chromate Free - (Material No.
06LCB1) between the x-stop assembly (6) and the contact surface of the structure.
       2 Put the x-stop assembly (6) in position on the structure and install the bolts (8), the washers (7) and the nuts (9).
       3 Tighten the nuts (9).
       4 Apply Varnish Polyurethane-- Marking Structure (Material No.04SAB2) on the bolt heads (8) and the nuts (9).
       5 Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Density Multi Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06ACA1) around the edge of the x-stop assembly (6).
   (3) Measure clearances A and B again and make sure that they are correct.
Subtask 52-22-00-820-068-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Adjustment of the Slide Release Bolt
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCK PIN IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED IN THE REGULATOR VALVE ASSEMBLY OF THE INFLATION RESERVOIR. THIS SAFETIES ALL COMPONENTS OF THE INFLATION SYSTEM IN OPERATION AND PREVENTS ACCIDENTAL:
  • DISCHARGE OF THE INFLATION RESERVOIR
  • DEPLOYMENT OF THE ESCAPE SLIDE
WHICH CAN CAUSE INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Disconnect the cable from the inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-46-000-001).
   (2) Close and lock overwing emergency-exit door 833(843) or 834(844) (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (3) Move the unlock lever (10) until it touches the disarm bracket (11).
   (4) Then, fully push the unlock lever (10) on the side.
   (5) Make sure that the slide release pin (1) of the overwing emergency-exit door is in the ARMED position.
   (6) Removal of the lockwire:
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Cut and discard the lockwire from the adjustable screw (4).
   (7) Adjust clearance C to 9 -1 mm or +0 mm (0.3543 -0.0394 in. or +0.0000 in.) between the activation lever (3) of the overwing emergency-exit door and the structure.
   (8) Make sure that:
  • One person holds the overwing emergency-exit door in the closed position.
  • The other person sets the latch handle to the DOOR OPEN position.
   (9) Adjust clearance D with the adjustable screw (4) on the main lever to more than 0 mm (0.00 in.).
   (10) Make sure that:
  • One person holds the overwing emergency-exit door in the closed position.
  • The other person sets the latch handle to the DOOR CLOSED position.
   (11) Safety the adjustable screw (4):
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Safety the adjustable screw (4) with the 14QGC1Wire-Locking Dia: 1 mm (0.041 inch) CRES -.
   (12) Connect the cable to the inflation reservoir (Ref. AMM TASK 25-62-46-400-001).
Subtask 52-22-00-220-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
E. Dimensional Check
   (1) Make sure that the overwing emergency-exit door is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (2) Make sure that the clearances that follow are correct:
     (a) Between the latching hooks (1) and the rear of the rollers (2).
NOTE: The permitted clearance between the middle latching hooks (1) and the rear of the rollers (2) is 0 -0 mm or +0.25 mm (0.0000 +0.0000 in. or +0.0098 in.).
   (3) Do a check of the clearances that follow:
     (a) Make sure that lateral clearances L1 thru L7 are correct.
     (b) Make sure that skin offsets S1 thru S4 are correct.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Make sure that the overwing emergency-exit door 833(843) or 834(844) is closed (Ref. AMM TASK 52-22-00-410-802).
   (4) Install the applicable insulation (Ref. AMM TASK 25-80-00-400-001).
   (5) Install the cove light panel (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-48-400-001).
   (6) Install the lining of the overwing emergency-exit door (Ref. AMM TASK 25-23-47-400-803).

   (3) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
   (4) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
