A. Repair a layer of Cold Phosphate
WARNING: DO NOT APPLY ADHESIVE TAPE ON THE PROBES, DUCTS, SENSORS (STATIC, PITOT, TAT, AOA). USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED TOOLS FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE SPECIFIED TOOLS:
  • GIVE THE CORRECT PROTECTION TO THE AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT,
  • ARE EASY TO SEE FROM THE GROUND,
  • ARE EASY TO REMOVE.
IF YOU USE TAPE, THERE IS A RISK THAT SOME TAPE, OR ADHESIVE FROM THE TAPE, WILL STAY ON THE PROBES, DUCTS OR SENSORS. THIS CAN CAUSE INCORRECT INDICATIONS ON THE RELATED COCKPIT INSTRUMENTS.
   (1) Cover the equipment and fittings adjacent to the area with the PAPER - MASKING or TAPE - MASKING.
   (2) Remove the damaged phosphate layer from an area of 20 mm (0.7874 in.) around the repair with the CLOTH-EMERY (GRADE 400).
   (3) Clean the area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
   (4) Apply a layer of Phosphoric Acid Surface Pretreatment-Metals Corrosion Removing - (Material No.10BDB1) with the BRUSH - NON METALLIC or a clean lintfree cloth.
   (5) Let the phosphatic liquid soak into the metal surface for 5 to 15 minutes.
   (6) When the surface of the metal has changed to a grey-white color, rinse the area with clean water.
   (7) Dry the area with a the HOT AIR SOURCE.
   (8) Remove the masking paper or the masking tape.

A. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
   (3) Make an entry in the aircraft logbook and attach a tag on the captain side stick to tell the crew that:
  • Protection covers/devices have been installed.
