Blockage Removal (Orbital Flush Valve)


WARNING: DO NOT DO WORK ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM AND THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM AT THE SAME TIME. THIS WILL PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF THE POTABLE WATER SYSTEM. SUCH CONTAMINATION CAN BE DANGEROUS TO HEALTH.
WARNING: ALWAYS USE RUBBER GLOVES WHEN YOU DO WORK:
  • ON THE TOILET WASTE SYSTEM, OR
  • ON PARTS THAT HAVE CONTAMINATION FROM THE WASTE SYSTEM.

   (1) Get access to the toilet which is blocked.
   (2) Remove the toilet shroud (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001).
   (3) Put a COVER - PLASTIC, FILM on the toilet bowl and safety it with a tape.
   (4) Make sure that the potable-water shutoff valve is in the fully open position.

C. Get Access
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Get access to the toilet which is blocked.
   (2) Remove the toilet shroud (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 25-45-22-000-802).
   (3) Put a COVER - PLASTIC, FILM on the toilet bowl and safety it with a tape.
   (4) Make sure that the potable-water shutoff valve is in the fully open position.

D. Removal of the Motor/Gear Assembly
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Remove the screws (2), the lock washers (3) and the washers (4).
   (2) Pull the motor/gear assembly (1) from the orbital flush-valve body (4).
NOTE: When the motor/gear assembly (1) is removed, you can see the shaft (5) of the orbital flush-valve body (4).

D. Removal of the Motor/Gear Assembly
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Remove the nuts (2) and the washers (1).
   (2) Pull the motor/gear assembly (3) from the orbital flush-valve body (4).
NOTE: When the motor/gear assembly (3) is removed, you can see the shaft (5) of the orbital flush-valve body (4).

D. Removal of the Motor/Gear Assembly
   (1) Remove the nuts (3) and the washers (2).
   (2) Pull the motor/gear assembly (5) from the orbital flush-valve body (4).
NOTE: You can see the shaft (6) after the removal of the motor/gear assembly (5).
   (3) Remove the spacers (1).
4. Procedure
Subtask 38-30-00-160-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Blockage Removal
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Use a open wrench (3/16 inch) to operate the shaft (5) of the disk.
   (2) Turn the shaft (5) of the disk to the left side a maximum of 90 deg. (1/4 turn) (the left side points to the direction of the shaft):
     (a) If there is too much resistance when you turn the shaft (5) (usually a maximum of to between 6.6 and 5.4 lbf.in (0.07 and 0.06 m.daN ) T force is necessary to turn the shaft):
       1 Remove the toilet assembly (
Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-000-001).
       2 Send the orbital valve to the workshop to clean it.
NOTE: It can be necessary to cut a small hole in the plastic film on the toilet bowl to let air into the toilet bowl.
       3 Install the toilet assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-41-400-001).
       4 Do step 4.A.(3) again.
   (3) Make sure that the collected waste moves out of the toilet bowl through the waste drain lines.
   (4) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC, FILM and clean the toilet assembly. Examine the cause for the blockage.

B. Installation of the Motor/Gear Assembly
WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Rotate the shaft (5) of the disk to the right to fully close the orbital valve.
   (3) Make sure that the shaft (5) aligns with the gear assembly.
   (4) Put the motor/gear assembly (1) in position.
   (5) Install the washers (4), the lock washers (3) and the screws (2).

C. Blockage Removal

D. Installation of the Motor/Gear Assembly

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Turn the shaft (5) of the disk to the right side to fully close the orbital valve.
   (3) Make sure that the shaft (5) aligns with the gear assembly.
   (4) Put the motor/gear assembly (3) in position.
   (5) Install the washers (1) and the nuts (2).

WARNING: ALWAYS WEAR RUBBER GLOVES, GOGGLES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHES WHEN YOU DO THIS TASK.
E. Blockage Removal
   (1) Turn the shaft (6) to a maximum of 90 degrees (1/4 turn) counterclockwise:
     (a) If there is too much resistance, when you turn the shaft (6):
       1 Remove the orbital flush-valve body (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-57-000-001).
       2 Send the flush valve assembly to the workshop to clean it.
NOTE: It can be necessary to cut a small hole in the COVER - PLASTIC, FILM on the toilet bowl to let air into the toilet bowl.
       3 Install the orbital flush-valve body (4) (Ref. AMM TASK 38-31-57-400-001).
   (2) Make sure that the collected material moves out of the toilet bowl through the waste drain lines.
   (3) Remove the COVER - PLASTIC, FILM and clean the toilet assembly.
   (4) Turn the shaft (6) clockwise to fully close the orbital flush valve.

F. Installation of the Motor/Gear Assembly
   (1) Make sure that the shaft (6) aligns with the orbital flush-valve body (4).
   (2) Install the spacers (1) on the motor/gear assembly (5).
   (3) Put the motor/gear assembly (5) in its installation position in the orbital flush-valve body (4).
   (4) Install the washers (2) and the nuts (3).
   (5) Tighten the nuts (3).
