Removal of the Quantity Indicator
NOTE: You can use two persons to do this task. One person to work on the inner side of zone 170 and the other person to work on the outer side of zone 170.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to ON.
(4) Remove partition 161DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
(5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(6) Open potable-water service door 171AL.
Subtask 38-13-21-614-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Open the aft cargo-compartment door (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-003).
(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(3) Set CARGO COMPT LIGHT switch 8LU to ON.
(4) Remove partition 161DW (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
(5) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.
(6) Open potable-water service door 171AL.
C. Depressurize the potable water system
(1) Drain the water from the potable water tank 3000MM (Ref. AMM TASK 38-10-00-614-002).

Subtask 38-13-21-020-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Quantity Indicator 6MA
(1) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the quantity indicator (2).
(2) Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.
(3) Remove the sealant from from the fasteners of the quantity indicator (2) with a nonmetallic scraper (inside of zone 170).
(4) Remove the nuts (5) and the washers (6) from the screws (9).
(5) Remove the screws (9), the flange (8) and the seal (7).
(6) Hold the quantity indicator (2) from the outside of zone 170 and remove the screws (4) and (10).
(7) Remove the clamp (3) from inside zone 170 and the quantity indicator (2) from outside of zone 170.
Subtask 38-13-21-020-051-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the quantity indicator (2).
(2) Put blanking caps on the disconnected electrical connectors.
(3) Remove the sealant from from the fasteners of the quantity indicator (2) with a nonmetallic scraper (inside of zone 170).
(4) Remove the nuts (5) and the washers (6) from the screws (9).
(5) Remove the screws (9), the flange (8) and the seal (7).
(6) Hold the quantity indicator (2) from the outside of zone 170 and remove the screws (4) and (10).
(7) Remove the clamp (3) from inside zone 170 and the quantity indicator (2) from outside of zone 170.
A. Removal of Quantity Indicator 6MA
(2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Remove the sealant from the fasteners of the quantity indicator (2) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(4) Hold the quantity indicator (2) and remove the nuts (5), the washers (4) and the screws (3).
(5) Remove the quantity indicator (2).
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the quantity indicator (2). (2) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
(3) Remove the sealant from the fasteners of the quantity indicator (2) with the SCRAPER - NON METALLIC.
(4) Hold the quantity indicator (2) and remove the nuts (5), the washers (4) and the screws (3).
(5) Remove the quantity indicator (2).
