A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) In the cockpit, on the overhead panel, on AIR COND panel 30VU:
  • Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position to tell persons not to push the APU BLEED pushbutton switch.
   (2) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position at the aft cargo-compartment door.
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE is in position at the applicable access door 312AR, 314AR, 315AL and 316AR.

B. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

C. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the aft cargo-compartment door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 52-30-00-860-001).
   (2) Make sure that partition panel 161DW is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 25-55-12-000-001).
   (3) Make sure that access doors 312AR, 314AR, 315AL and 316AR are open.

D. Inspection of the Spring Rod
   (1) Make sure that the spring rod is not damaged and does not have corrosion.
   (2) Make sure that the piston part of the spring rod moves freely in the cylinder part.
   (3) Make sure that you can see the threaded end of the spring rod through the inspection hole.
4. Procedure

A. Installation of the Spring Rods
NOTE: The installation procedure for all the spring rods is the same.
   (1) Put the spring rod (4) in position between the brackets.
   (2) Install the bolts (1) in the brackets.
   (3) Install the washers (2) and the nuts (3) on the bolts (1).
   (4) Torque the nuts (3) to between 1.06 and 0.82 m.daN (93.81 and 72.57 lbf.in ) T.

B. Put the aircraft back to its initial configuration.
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
