Replacement of the Lens and the Mirror of the Take Off Light
WARNING:
WEAR GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE CLOTHING WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE LIGHT. THE LAMP IS PRESSURIZED AND AN EXPLOSION CAN OCCUR.
WARNING:
DO NOT DISCONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS FOR AT LEAST 2 MINUTES AFTER YOU DE-ENERGIZE THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS.
CAUTION:
DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS WITH YOUR FINGERS.
THE OILS FROM YOUR SKIN WILL QUICKLY CAUSE DETERIORATION OF THE LAMP.
IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY TOUCH THE LAMP GLASS, CLEAN IT WITH A LINT-FREE CLOTH.
NOTE: This procedure is only applicable for halogen-bulb take off lights.

Subtask 33-46-11-020-057-A
A. Removal of the Lens and the Mirror
(a) Remove the screw (1) and the retainer (4).
(b) Remove the lamp:
(c) Disconnection of the electrical terminals
2 Attach together the two red electrical wires (12) that are connected to the same terminal stud with TAPE - ADHESIVE.
3 Disconnect the red electrical wires (12) from the terminal stud.
(d) Pull the lens (5) away from the mirror (10).
(e) Remove the screws (6) and washers (7).
(f) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (9).
(g) If the gasket (13) on the support (14) is defective, remove and discard it.
(2) For the ZODIAC take off light:
(a) Remove the screw (2), the washer (3) and the insulating washer (1).
(b) Remove the clamp (4).
(c) Remove the lamp:
(d) Disconnection of the electrical terminals
2 Attach together the two red electrical wires (12) that are connected to the same terminal stud with TAPE - ADHESIVE.
3 Disconnect the red electrical wires (12) from the terminal stud.
(e) Pull the lens (5) away from the mirror (10).
(f) Remove the two screws (6) and the two washers (7).
(g) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (9).
(h) If the gasket (13) on the support (14) is defective, remove and discard it.
Subtask 33-46-11-420-057-A CAUTION:
MAKE MATCH MARKS ON ALL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT THEM. INCORRECT CONNECTION OF WIRES WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) For the HONEYWELL take off light: (a) Remove the screw (1) and the retainer (4).
(b) Remove the lamp:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY UNTIL IT IS FULLY DISCONNECTED. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
1 Pull the lamp away from the support (14). (c) Disconnection of the electrical terminals
CAUTION:
DO NOT PULL THE LAMP TOO FAR OUT OF THE LIGHT. THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE LAMP WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM.
1 Disconnect the white electrical wire (11) from the terminal stud. 2 Attach together the two red electrical wires (12) that are connected to the same terminal stud with TAPE - ADHESIVE.
3 Disconnect the red electrical wires (12) from the terminal stud.
(d) Pull the lens (5) away from the mirror (10).
(e) Remove the screws (6) and washers (7).
(f) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (9).
(g) If the gasket (13) on the support (14) is defective, remove and discard it.
(2) For the ZODIAC take off light:
(a) Remove the screw (2), the washer (3) and the insulating washer (1).
(b) Remove the clamp (4).
(c) Remove the lamp:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY UNTIL IT IS FULLY DISCONNECTED. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
1 Pull the lamp away from the support (14). (d) Disconnection of the electrical terminals
CAUTION:
DO NOT PULL THE LAMP TOO FAR OUT OF THE LIGHT. THE WIRES CONNECTED TO THE LAMP WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM.
1 Disconnect the white electrical wire (11) from the terminal stud. 2 Attach together the two red electrical wires (12) that are connected to the same terminal stud with TAPE - ADHESIVE.
3 Disconnect the red electrical wires (12) from the terminal stud.
(e) Pull the lens (5) away from the mirror (10).
(f) Remove the two screws (6) and the two washers (7).
(g) Carefully remove and keep the halogen bulb (9).
(h) If the gasket (13) on the support (14) is defective, remove and discard it.
B. Installation of the Lens and the Mirror
(1) For the HONEYWELL take off light:
(a) Do a check of the halogen bulb (9) condition. If the halogen bulb (9) is damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (9).
(b) Carefully put the halogen bulb (9) in position on the new AIPC 33-46-11-02-020 MIRROR (10).
(d) Tighten the two screws (6). Tighten the two screws (6) again a quarter turn after contact.
(e) Install a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-100 GASKET (13) on the support (14).
(f) Put a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-010 LENS (5) in position on the mirror (10) with the halogen bulb (9) installed.
(g) Connection of the electrical terminals on a new lamp:
2 Connect the red electrical wires (12) to the other terminal stud.
3 Remove the adhesive tape that attaches the two electrical red wires.
(h) Install the lamp:
(i) Do a check of the retainer (4) condition. If the retainer (4) is twisted, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-020 RETAINER (4).
(j) Put the retainer (4) in position.
(k) Install the screw (1).
(l) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 7 and 6 lbf.in (0.08 and 0.07 m.daN ).
(m) Make sure that there are no signs of distortion of the retainer (4).
(2) For the ZODIAC take off light:
(a) Do a check of the halogen bulb (9) condition. If the halogen bulb is damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (9).
(b) Carefully put the halogen bulb (9) in position on a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-020 MIRROR (10).
(d) Tighten the two screws (6). Tighten the two screws (6) again a quarter turn after contact.
(e) Install a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-110 GASKET (13) on the support (14).
(f) Put a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-010 LENS (5) in position on the mirror (10) with the halogen bulb (9) installed.
(g) Connection of the electrical terminals on a new lamp:
2 Connect the red electrical wires (12) to the other terminal stud.
3 Remove the adhesive tape that attaches the two electrical red wires.
(h) Install the lamp:
(i) Do a check of the clamp (4) condition. If the clamp (4) is twisted, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-010 CLAMP (4).
(j) Put the clamp (4) in position.
(k) Install the insulating washer (1), the washer (3) and the screw (2).
(l) Compress the clamp with your hand.
(m) Put a gage with a thickness of 11 +0 mm or -0.2 mm (0.4331 +0.0000 in. or -0.0079 in.) between the two brackets of the clamp (4).
(n) Tighten the screw (2) until the two brackets touch the gage. Be careful not to twist the clamp (4).
(o) Remove the gage.
Subtask 33-46-11-865-072-A (1) For the HONEYWELL take off light:
(a) Do a check of the halogen bulb (9) condition. If the halogen bulb (9) is damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (9).
(b) Carefully put the halogen bulb (9) in position on the new AIPC 33-46-11-02-020 MIRROR (10).
NOTE: The end of the pinched seal (8) must point forward.
(c) Install the two washers (7) and the two screws (6). (d) Tighten the two screws (6). Tighten the two screws (6) again a quarter turn after contact.
(e) Install a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-100 GASKET (13) on the support (14).
(f) Put a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-010 LENS (5) in position on the mirror (10) with the halogen bulb (9) installed.
(g) Connection of the electrical terminals on a new lamp:
CAUTION:
DO NOT PULL THE ELECTRICAL WIRES WHEN YOU CONNECT THE TERMINALS TO THE LAMP. IF YOU PULL THE WIRES, YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THEM.
1 Connect the white electrical wire (11) to the terminal stud. 2 Connect the red electrical wires (12) to the other terminal stud.
3 Remove the adhesive tape that attaches the two electrical red wires.
(h) Install the lamp:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GASKET IS IN THE CORRECT POSITION. IF NOT, YOU CAN DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE LAMP.
1 Put the lamp in position on the support (14). (i) Do a check of the retainer (4) condition. If the retainer (4) is twisted, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-020 RETAINER (4).
(j) Put the retainer (4) in position.
(k) Install the screw (1).
(l) TORQUE the screw (1) to between 7 and 6 lbf.in (0.08 and 0.07 m.daN )
. (m) Make sure that there are no signs of distortion of the retainer (4).
(2) For the ZODIAC take off light:
(a) Do a check of the halogen bulb (9) condition. If the halogen bulb is damaged, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-050 HALOGEN BULB (9).
(b) Carefully put the halogen bulb (9) in position on a new AIPC 33-46-11-02-020 MIRROR (10).

(c) Install the two washers (7) and the two screws (6). (d) Tighten the two screws (6). Tighten the two screws (6) again a quarter turn after contact.

1 Connect the white electrical wire (11) to the terminal stud. 2 Connect the red electrical wires (12) to the other terminal stud.
3 Remove the adhesive tape that attaches the two electrical red wires.
(h) Install the lamp:
CAUTION:
HOLD THE LAMP FIRMLY WHEN YOU INSTALL IT. DO NOT PULL OR TWIST THE WIRES. THE WIRES WILL BECOME DAMAGED IF YOU PULL OR TWIST THEM, OR IF THE LAMP FALLS AND HANGS AT THE END OF THE WIRES.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GASKET IS IN THE CORRECT POSITION. IF NOT, YOU CAN DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE LAMP.
1 Put the lamp in position on the support (14). (i) Do a check of the clamp (4) condition. If the clamp (4) is twisted, replace it with a new AIPC 33-46-11-01-010 CLAMP (4).
(j) Put the clamp (4) in position.
(k) Install the insulating washer (1), the washer (3) and the screw (2).
(l) Compress the clamp with your hand.
(m) Put a gage with a thickness of 11 +0 mm or -0.2 mm (0.4331 +0.0000 in. or -0.0079 in.) between the two brackets of the clamp (4).
(n) Tighten the screw (2) until the two brackets touch the gage. Be careful not to twist the clamp (4).
(o) Remove the gage.
C. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Operational Test
(1) Do the operational test of the take off light (Ref. AMM TASK 33-46-00-710-001).

A. Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
