A. Removal of Corrosion on Aluminum Alloy
(1) Treatment of areas that have corrosion
Subtask 32-40-00-370-051-A (1) Treatment of areas that have corrosion
- Clean the area that has corrosion with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
- Clean the paint to make sure that it is in the correct condition (flakes). Make a mark on the damaged area.
- Remove all flakes of paint. Make the edges of the area smooth with wet-and-dry emery paper.
- Remove the corrosion from the damaged area with an emery stone.
NOTE: The depth of the material you remove during the repair must not decrease the mechanical strength of the part. If you are not sure, send the part for repairs.
(2) Removal of corrosion-passivation - Fully degrease with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
- Pickle the surface that has corrosion. Rub it lightly with a wad of cotton-wool soaked in a solution of 50% Phosphoric Acid Surface Pretreatment-Metals Corrosion Removing & Metal Conditioning Systems (Material No.10BDC2) and 50% water.
- Flush the surface with a flow of water and do the protective treatment immediately.
- Prepare a solution of Surface Pretreatment-Light Alloys Chemical Conversion Yellow - (Material No.10ABC1) (35 g/liter) (6 oz./US Gal).
- Apply the solution to the damaged surface with a clean wad of cotton-wool.
- Let the solution stay on the surface for approximately 5 minutes. Apply more solution not less than two times but do not rub.
- Make sure that the solution covers the surface fully.
- Flush the surface with a flow of water. Dry it with filtered, compressed air. Let it dry for 12 hours at the ambient temperature.
- DALIC Nickel plating.
B. Repair of Paint that is resistant to Skydrol
(1) Preparation of the areas to be painted
(a) Clean the surfaces to be painted with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) . Dry them with clean, filtered, compressed air.
(b) Apply09EBB1 Methylene Chloride / Phenolic Stripper-General Use Process Improved Efficiency - with a paint-brush. If it is necessary use a brush on the surface.
(c) If you repair the paint in a room, make sure that it is open to the air.
(d) Never let the material touch the surfaces for more than 5 hours.
(f) Dry and clean the surface. Fully degrease it with a chlorine-base solvent. Make sure that there is no oxidation on the surfaces.
(2) Preparation of paint mixtures (by volume)
(a) Primer Wash Primer_- - Structure (Material No.04CMA2)
2 100 parts of hardener.
3 20 parts of thinner.
(b) Undercoat Primer Polyurethane Paint_- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04EAC2)
2 30 parts of hardener.
3 50 parts of thinner.
(c) Top-coat Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3)
2 100 parts of hardener.
3 30 parts of thinner.
(3) Apply the paint
(b) Apply a coat of the undercoat. Let it dry for not less that 3 hours and not more than 4 hours.
(c) Apply a coat of the top-coat. Let it dry for 24 hours before you touch it.
(1) Preparation of the areas to be painted
(a) Clean the surfaces to be painted with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) . Dry them with clean, filtered, compressed air.
(b) Apply
(c) If you repair the paint in a room, make sure that it is open to the air.
(d) Never let the material touch the surfaces for more than 5 hours.
CAUTION:
THE MATERIAL MUST NOT TOUCH RUBBER, PLASTICS OR ASSEMBLY AREAS.
(e) Flush the surface with water (if it is possible, under pressure), until you remove all the paint and cleaning agent.
NOTE: You can keep the mixture for not more than 8 hours at 20°C (68°F).
1 100 parts of primer. 2 100 parts of hardener.
3 20 parts of thinner.
(b) Undercoat Primer Polyurethane Paint_- Corrosion Inhibiting Structure (Material No.04EAC2)
NOTE: You can keep the mixture for not more than 8 hours at 20°C (68°F).
1 100 parts of primer. 2 30 parts of hardener.
3 50 parts of thinner.
(c) Top-coat Top Coat Polyurethane-- Decorative External Structure (Material No.04JMD3)
NOTE: You can keep the mixture for not more than 8 hours at 20°C (68°F). You must prepare it half-an-hour before you use it.
1 100 parts of primer. 2 100 parts of hardener.
3 30 parts of thinner.
(3) Apply the paint
NOTE: Apply the paint with a spray-gun, make an overlap on the adjacent surface. Make sure that the paint and the surfaces are at the same temperature :
(a) Apply a coat of the primer. Let it dry for not less than 2 hours and not more than 3 hours. - between 15°C and 25°C (59°F to 77°F).
The relative humidity must be between 35% and 75%.
(b) Apply a coat of the undercoat. Let it dry for not less that 3 hours and not more than 4 hours.
(c) Apply a coat of the top-coat. Let it dry for 24 hours before you touch it.
NOTE: The paint must dry for 7 days until it becomes resistant to Skydrol.
