Removal of the Anti-Ice Interbulkhead System
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 30-21-49-010-113-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.
4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below the engine.

A. Remove the coupling that attaches the Anti-ice Duct 5 to the Anti-ice Interbulkhead System (Ref. AMM TASK 30-21-49-000-014)
Subtask 30-21-49-020-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL B. Removal of the Thermal Anti-Ice (TAI) Access Panel (37)
(1) Remove the bolts (36) from the TAI access panel (37).
(2) Pull the TAI access panel (37) away from the outer duct (42).
Subtask 30-21-49-020-069-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the bolts (36) from the TAI access panel (37).
(2) Pull the TAI access panel (37) away from the outer duct (42).
C. Removal of the Inner Duct (47) and the Outer Duct (42).
(1) Remove the bolts (41) that attach the half locating plate (34) to the rear bulkhead (35).
(2) Remove the bolts (40) that attach the half locating plate (39) to the rear bulkhead (35).
(3) Remove the two half locating plates (34) and (39) from the rear bulkhead (35).
(4) Put your hand into the air exhaust (49) and hold the inner duct (47).
(5) Pull the inner duct (47) and the outer duct (42) away from the spray ring (44).
(6) Keep the two ducts (42) and (47) together and remove them through the opening for the TAI access panel (37).
(7) Pull the inner duct (47) out of the outer duct (42).
(8) If necessary, remove the D-rings (48) and (50), and the 3-ring pack (43) from the outer duct (42).
(9) If necessary, remove the D-ring (46) from the spray ring (44).
(10) Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all the openings.
(1) Remove the bolts (41) that attach the half locating plate (34) to the rear bulkhead (35).
(2) Remove the bolts (40) that attach the half locating plate (39) to the rear bulkhead (35).
(3) Remove the two half locating plates (34) and (39) from the rear bulkhead (35).
(4) Put your hand into the air exhaust (49) and hold the inner duct (47).
(5) Pull the inner duct (47) and the outer duct (42) away from the spray ring (44).
(6) Keep the two ducts (42) and (47) together and remove them through the opening for the TAI access panel (37).
(7) Pull the inner duct (47) out of the outer duct (42).
(8) If necessary, remove the D-rings (48) and (50), and the 3-ring pack (43) from the outer duct (42).
(9) If necessary, remove the D-ring (46) from the spray ring (44).
(10) Put the applicable COVER - BLANKING on all the openings.
