A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the flap and slat control lever, on panel 114VU, install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE PNEUMATIC SYSTEM IS DEPRESSURIZED BEFORE YOU START WORK. PRESSURIZED AIR CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in positions that follow before you start the work on the ice protection system:
  • On the high-pressure ground-power connections, to tell persons not to pressurize the pneumatic system
  • In the cockpit, to tell persons not to operate the engines or APU control switch
  • On the panel 30VU, to tell persons not to pressurize the bleed air system
  • On the panel 114VU, to tell persons not to operate the slat controls.
   (3) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) in position below zone 522(622).
   (2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004):
     (a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)
Remove access panel 522AB
     (b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)
Remove access panel 622AB.

C. Get Access
   (1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below zone 522(622).
   (2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-41-37-000-004):
     (a) FOR [9DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, L)
Remove access panel 522YB.
     (b) FOR [10DL] (VALVE-WING ANTI ICE CONTROL, R)
Remove access panel 622YB.
4. Procedure
Subtask 30-11-51-020-050-A
WARNING: DO NOT TOUCH THE ANTI-ICE DUCTS UNTIL THEY ARE COOL. THE TEMPERATURE OF THE DUCTS STAYS HIGH FOR SOME TIME AFTER THE ENGINE STOPS.
A. Removal of the Wing Anti-Ice Control-Valve (for the Part Numbers (PN) SAS911-002A and SAS912-002A)
NOTE: The wing anti-ice control-valve with the PN SAS912-002A is not approved for the Extended Range Operations for Two-Engine Aeroplanes (ETOPS).
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: TO PREVENT POSSIBLE CROSS-CONNECTION OF THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS, MAKE SURE THAT PLUGS AND RECEPTACLES ARE CLEARLY IDENTIFIED.
     (a) Disconnect the electrical connectors (8), (9) and (10).
     (b) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (2) Remove the clamp (3) from the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) and move the duct (4) outboard.
   (3) Hold the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) and remove the clamp (1).
   (4) Move the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) outboard to disconnect the locating pin (6) and lower the wing anti-ice control-valve (2) from its location.
   (5) Put the CAP - BLANKING on the open ends of the anti-ice ducts (4) and (11) and the wing anti-ice contol-valve (2).

B. Removal of the Wing Anti-Ice Control Valve (for part number 38E93-X)
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
   (1) Disconnect the electrical connectors (14), (15) and (16).
   (2) Remove the clamp (12) and move the duct (13) away from the anti-ice control valve (11).
   (3) Hold the anti-ice control valve (11) and remove the clamp (10).
   (4) Move the anti-ice control valve (11) away from the duct (17) to disconnect the location pin (19). Remove the anti-ice control valve (11).
   (5) Put CAP - BLANKING on the:
  • Open ends of the anti-ice ducts (13) and (17)
  • Electrical connectors (14), (15) and (16)
  • Electrical connectors and the openings on the anti-ice control valve (11).
