Installation of the ACT Vent-Valve Actuator
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.

Subtask 28-28-72-860-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
(7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at zone 195.
(8) Make sure that access panel 195BB is open.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized.
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) When you do maintenance work on the fuel system you must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
(3) On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU, make sure that the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(4) On the FUEL section of panel 40VU, make sure that all the L TK PUMPS and R TK PUMPS pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(5) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is (are) in position:
- On the APU section of overhead panel 25VU to tell persons not to operate the APU/MASTER SW pushbutton switch
- On the FUEL section of panel 40VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system
- On the ENG/APU FIRE panel on overhead panel 20VU to tell persons not to operate the fire extinguishing system.
- On the Additional Center Tank (ACT) section of control panel 28VU to tell persons not to operate the fuel system.
(7) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) is in position at zone 195.
(8) Make sure that access panel 195BB is open.
Subtask 28-28-72-420-050-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the Actuator
(1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 28-28-83-07-090 O-RING (4).
(b) Install the new O-ring (4) on the mounting flange (1).
(5) Install the mounting flange (1) on the actuator (5) as follows:
(a) Install the V-clamp (3) on the mounting flange (1).
(b) Close the V-clamp (3) and tighten the screw (7).

(6) Put the actuator (5) in position. Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves.
(7) Install the four nuts (2) and tighten them.
(8) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(9) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(10) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(11) Connect the electrical connectors (6) to the actuator (5).
Subtask 28-28-72-650-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(2) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
NOTE: A locating pin is installed on the mounting flange (1) for the correct installation of the actuator (5).
(4) Installation of the new AIPC 28-28-83-07-090 O-RING (4): (a) Apply Turbine Fuel-- Kerosene - (Material No.01ABA1) or Mineral Oil base Grease-- Vaseline or Petrolatum - (Material No.03FAB1) to the new AIPC 28-28-83-07-090 O-RING (4).
(b) Install the new O-ring (4) on the mounting flange (1).
(5) Install the mounting flange (1) on the actuator (5) as follows:
(a) Install the V-clamp (3) on the mounting flange (1).
(b) Close the V-clamp (3) and tighten the screw (7).
CAUTION:
DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FLANGE SURFACES.
(c) TORQUE the screw (7) to between 0.11 and 0.10 m.daN (9.73 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(d) Safety the screw (7) with (6) Put the actuator (5) in position. Make sure that the splines of the splined shaft are aligned with their grooves.
(7) Install the four nuts (2) and tighten them.
(8) Do a check of the electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(9) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
(10) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
(11) Connect the electrical connectors (6) to the actuator (5).
B. Fuel Configuration
(1) Refuel, defuel or transfer fuel as necessary (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003), (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-650-001) or (Ref. AMM TASK 28-25-00-869-001).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close access panel 195BB.
(3) De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
