A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures when you do work on the fuel system (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).
   (2) In the cockpit, put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
Subtask 28-12-00-650-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Fuel Configuration
   (1) Refuel the aircraft with the necessary quantity of fuel (Ref. AMM TASK 12-11-28-650-003).
   (2) Before you continue with this procedure make sure that:
  • the quantity of fuel onboard the aircraft is correct
  • the refuel/defuel panel door is closed.

Subtask 28-12-00-040-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. To Set the LH Wing Transfer Valves 27QM and 28QM Open for Flight
   (1) If overpressure protector 102QM or 103QM is damaged do this procedure:

NOTE: The circuit breakers must be opened and closed in the sequence given.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the panel 49VU:

  • open the circuit breaker 2QP

  • wait ten seconds.
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the open position
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the intermediate (amber) position
  • the left-wing outer-cell fuel content decreases and the left-wing inner-cell fuel content increases.
2.On the panel 121VU:

  • open the circuit breaker 4QP

  • wait ten seconds.
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator, open position stays in view
  • the amber right-wing transfer-valve indicator, intermediate (amber) position stays in view
  • the left-wing outer-cell fuel content decreases and the left-wing inner-cell fuel content increases.
3.On the panel 49VU:

  • close the circuit breaker 2QP.
  • the amber right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the intermediate position to the green open position
  • both wing outer-cell fuel contents decrease and the inner-cell fuel contents increase.
4.On the panel 121VU:
  • close the circuit breaker 4QP.

   (2) Monitor the wing fuel quantity indications on the ECAM display unit. Make sure the quantity of fuel in the wing tank inner cell increases as fuel moves from the outer cell. The LH wing transfer valves are now set to the open position and the aircraft is ready for flight.
NOTE: The wing transfer valves will close again if the refuel/defuel panel door is opened.

B. To Set the RH Wing Transfer Valves 29QM and 30QM Open for Flight
   (1) If overpressure protector 102QM or 103QM is damaged do this procedure:

NOTE: The circuit breakers must be opened and closed in the sequence given.
ACTION
RESULT
1.On the panel 49VU:

  • open circuit breaker 1QP

  • wait ten seconds.
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the open position
  • the green left-wing transfer-valve indicator moves from the closed position to the intermediate (amber) position
  • the right-wing outer-cell fuel content decreases and the right-wing inner-cell fuel content increases.
2.On the panel 121VU:

  • open the circuit breaker 3QP

  • wait ten seconds.
  • the green right-wing transfer-valve indicator, open position stays in view
  • the amber left-wing transfer-valve indicator, intermediate (amber) position stays in view
  • the right-wing outer-cell fuel content decreases and the right-wing inner-cell fuel content increases.
3.On the panel 49VU:

  • close the circuit breaker 1QP.
  • the amber left-wing transfer valve indicator moves from the intermediate position to the green open position
  • both wing outer cell fuel contents decrease and the inner cell fuel contents increase.
4.On panel 121VU:
  • close the circuit breaker 3QP.

   (2) Monitor the wing fuel quantity indications on the ECAM display unit. Make sure the quantity of fuel in the wing tank inner cell increases as fuel moves from the outer cell. The RH wing transfer valves are now set to the open position and the aircraft is ready for flight.
NOTE: The wing transfer valves will close again if the refuel/defuel panel door is opened.
