Removal of the Torque Shaft
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear doors.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap controls.
Subtask 27-54-45-860-050-A (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(2) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the landing-gear doors.
(3) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap controls.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS or 98D27803500002 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
Subtask 27-54-45-865-050-A WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009). (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS or 98D27803500002 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU.
C. Open, safety and tag this(these) circuit breaker(s):

D. Get Access
(1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in the applicable position.
4. Procedure(1) Open the MLG doors (Ref. AMM TASK 32-12-00-010-001).
(2) Make sure that the 460005835 SLEEVE - GROUND LOCK is on the applicable MLG door actuator.
(3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in the applicable position.
CAUTION:

Subtask 27-54-45-020-050-A - DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Removal of the Torque Shaft
(2) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (101).
(3) Remove and discard the nuts (101).
(4) Remove the washers (103) and the U-bolt (102).
(5) Remove and discard the nuts (3) and (9).
(6) Remove the bolts (4) and (8) and the torque shaft (2).
(7) Remove the universal joint (1).
(8) Remove the retaining ring (5), the pin (6) and the universal joint (7).
WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) Install the 98D27504030001 LOCK-TORQUE SHAFT (FLAPS AND SLATS) WITH CLAMP-PIVOT on a flap torque shaft, outboard of the component that you remove (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-400-003). (2) Remove and discard the lockwire from the nuts (101).
(3) Remove and discard the nuts (101).
(4) Remove the washers (103) and the U-bolt (102).
(5) Remove and discard the nuts (3) and (9).
(6) Remove the bolts (4) and (8) and the torque shaft (2).
(7) Remove the universal joint (1).
(8) Remove the retaining ring (5), the pin (6) and the universal joint (7).
