Installation of the Interconnecting Strut
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE FLIGHT CONTROL SAFETY-LOCKS AND THE WARNING NOTICES ARE IN POSITION.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
1. Reason for the Job- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Safety Precautions
(2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
Subtask 27-51-44-860-051-B WARNING:
BEFORE YOU START WORK, YOU MUST PUT ON A SAFETY HARNESS AND ATTACH IT TO THE ACCESS PLATFORM. WITHOUT A SAFETY HARNESS, YOU CAN FALL. THIS CAN KILL YOU OR CAUSE YOU INJURY.
(1) Make sure that the SAFETY BARRIER(S) is(are) in position. (2) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is(are) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.
B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the lower kink seal, the cushion seals and the upper kink seals are removed from the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-000-002).
(2) Make sure that the flaps are extended to position 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
Subtask 27-51-44-865-051-A (1) Make sure that the lower kink seal, the cushion seals and the upper kink seals are removed from the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-000-002).
(2) Make sure that the flaps are extended to position 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(3) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).
(4) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE is in position:
- For the left wing, below zone 580
- For the right wing, below zone 680.
C. Make sure that this(these) circuit breaker(s) is(are) open, safetied and tagged:

CAUTION:

Subtask 27-51-44-420-057-A - DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
A. Preparation for Installation
(1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(3) Make sure that the rod-end and the locking device (located between the locknut and nut) are not worn or damaged. Replace a worn or damaged rod-end, or a worn or damaged locking device (Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-44-960-001).
(4) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
Subtask 27-51-44-420-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Clean the component interface and/or the adjacent area with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
(2) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.

B. Installation of the Interconnecting Strut
(1) Install the washer (3) and the bush (4).
(2) Put the interconnecting strut (1) in the correct position for installation. Make sure that the:
(a) The TOP indication on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top position.
(b) The flanged bush on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top position.
(c) The inspection/setting hole/s is/are at the bottom position.
(4) Install the bolt (15), the washer (14) and the nut (13).
(5) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
.
(6) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-010 COTTER PIN (7) or the new AIPC 27-51-85-01-010 COTTER PIN (7).
(7) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
.
(9) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (9) and (10) and the receptacles (8) and (11).
(10) Make sure that:
Subtask 27-51-44-420-055-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the washer (3) and the bush (4).
(2) Put the interconnecting strut (1) in the correct position for installation. Make sure that the:
(a) The TOP indication on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top position.
(b) The flanged bush on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top position.
(c) The inspection/setting hole/s is/are at the bottom position.
NOTE: The strut can have one or two inspection/setting holes.
(3) Install the bolt (2), the washer (5) and the nut (6). (4) Install the bolt (15), the washer (14) and the nut (13).
(5) TORQUE the nut (6) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
. (6) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-010 COTTER PIN (7) or the new AIPC 27-51-85-01-010 COTTER PIN (7).
(7) TORQUE the nut (13) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
. NOTE: It is possible to have a clearance between the flange of the bush and the strut attachment bracket. This is satisfactory.
(8) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-100 COTTER PIN (12) or the new AIPC 27-51-85-01-110 COTTER PIN (12). (9) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (9) and (10) and the receptacles (8) and (11).
(10) Make sure that:
- The electrical connectors (9) and (10) and the receptacles (8) and (11) are clean and in the correct condition.
B. Installation of the Interconnecting Strut
(1) Install the bush (8).
(2) Install the guide washer (7) on the dowel (20). Make sure that the guide washer (7) is in the correct position with the chamfer outboard.
(3) Put the interconnecting strut (1) in the correct position for installation. Make sure that the position is correct as follows:
(a) The TOP indication on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top.
(b) The flanged bush on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top.
(c) The inspection/setting hole/s is/are at the bottom.
(5) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18) and the nut (16).
(6) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
.
(7) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-010 COTTER PIN (2).
(8) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
.
(10) Install the failsafe bracket (9) with the bolts (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (10).
(11) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (14) and (15) and the receptacles (13) and (12).
(12) Make sure that:
Subtask 27-51-44-820-050-A (1) Install the bush (8).
(2) Install the guide washer (7) on the dowel (20). Make sure that the guide washer (7) is in the correct position with the chamfer outboard.
(3) Put the interconnecting strut (1) in the correct position for installation. Make sure that the position is correct as follows:
(a) The TOP indication on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top.
(b) The flanged bush on the interconnecting strut (1) is at the top.
(c) The inspection/setting hole/s is/are at the bottom.
NOTE: The strut can have one or two inspection/setting holes.
(4) Install the bolt (11), the washer (4) and the nut (3). (5) Install the bolt (19), the washer (18) and the nut (16).
(6) TORQUE the nut (3) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
. (7) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-010 COTTER PIN (2).
(8) TORQUE the nut (16) to between 1.7 and 1.1 m.daN (150.44 and 97.35 lbf.in )
. NOTE: It is possible to have a clearance between the flange of the bush and the strut attachment bracket. This is satisfactory.
(9) Install the new AIPC 27-51-05-01-100 COTTER PIN (17) or the new AIPC 27-51-85-01-110 COTTER PIN (17). (10) Install the failsafe bracket (9) with the bolts (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (10).
(11) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors (14) and (15) and the receptacles (13) and (12).
(12) Make sure that:
- The electrical connectors (14) and (15) and the receptacles (13) and (12) are clean and in the correct condition.
C. Adjustment of the Interconnecting Strut
(1) Do the adjustment of the interconnecting strut (1) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-51-44-820-001).

E. Installation of the Interconnecting Strut
(1) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the:

- Bolt (2), the nut (6), the washer (5) and the cotter pin (7)
- Bolt (15), the nut (13), the washer (14) and the cotter pin (12).
E. Installation of the Interconnecting Strut
(1) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the:
Subtask 27-51-44-410-058-A (1) Apply a layer of Corrosion Preventive Compound-Heavy Duty Soft Film - (Material No.12ACC1) to the:
- Bolt (11), the nut (3), the washer (4) and the cotter pin (2)
- Bolt (19), the nut (16), the washer (18) and the cotter pin (17)
- Bolts (5), the washers (6) and the nuts (10).
F. Close Access
(1) Remove the access platform(s).

G. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

H. Test
(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
(2) Do an operational test of the flap system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-00-710-001).
5. Close-up(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever on panel 114VU (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-080-002).
(2) Do an operational test of the flap system (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-00-710-001).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the lower kink seal, the cushion seals and the upper kink seals on the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-400-006).
