Removal of the Interconnecting Strut

   (1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
   (2) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat controls.

   (1) Extend the flaps to position 1 (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Install the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION on the flap/slat control lever (Ref. AMM TASK 27-00-00-480-002).

   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 5M (16 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position:
  • For the left wing, below zone 580
  • For the right wing, below zone 680.
   (2) Remove the lower kink seal, the cushion seals and the upper kink seals from the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-000-002).
4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Removal of the Interconnecting Strut
NOTE: When you put the interconnecting strut into storage, make sure that all the removed items stay together with the strut.
   (1) Put a LABEL - IDENTIFICATION on the electrical connectors (9) and (10) and receptacles (8) and (11) before you remove them.
   (2) Remove the electrical connectors (9) and (10) from the receptacles (8) and (11) on the inboard flap.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Remove and discard the cotter pins (7) and (12).
   (5) Hold the interconnecting strut (1).
   (6) Remove the nuts (6) and (13) and the washers (5) and (14).
   (7) Remove the bolts (2) and (15) and remove the interconnecting strut (1).
   (8) Remove the washer (3) and the bush (4).

A. Removal of the Interconnecting Strut
NOTE: When you put the interconnecting strut into storage, make sure that all the removed items stay together with the strut.
   (1) Put a LABEL - IDENTIFICATION on the electrical connectors (14) and (15) and receptacles (13) and (12) before you remove them.
   (2) Remove the electrical connectors (14) and (15) from the receptacles (13) and (12) on the inboard flap.
   (3) Put the CAP-BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector and receptacle.
   (4) Remove the nuts (10), the bolts (5) with the washers (6) and remove the failsafe bracket (9).
   (5) Remove and discard the cotter pins (2) and (17).
   (6) Hold the interconnecting strut (1).
   (7) Remove the nuts (3) and (16) and the washers (4) and (18).
   (8) Remove the bolts (11) and (19) and remove the interconnecting strut (1).
   (9) Remove the guide washer (7) and the bush (8).
