| 1.Initial test: | |
| (a) Connect all the connectors to the buckle assembly. | (a) The connectors engage. |
| (b) Turn the buckle control clockwise to release the connectors from the buckle assembly. | (b) Only one connector stays engaged and all the others are released. The buckle control moves back to the CLOSED position. |
| (c) Do step (a) again. Then, turn the buckle control counterclockwise to release the connectors from the buckle assembly. | (c) Only one connector stays engaged and all the others are released. The buckle control moves back to the CLOSED position. |
| (d) Slowly pull the shoulder straps out of the reel assembly to the fully extended position. Monitor the shoulder straps to make sure that the reel operates correctly. Do a general visual inspection of the shoulder straps. | (d) The shoulder straps extend. Make sure that the shoulder straps do not have too much web fray or cuts. |
| (e) Slowly let the shoulder straps move into the reel assembly. | (e) The shoulder straps retract. |
| (f) Do steps (d) and (e) again for mininum of four cycles. | (f) The shoulder straps retract smoothly and fully and do not catch. |
| (g) Hold the reel assembly and pull approximately 25% of the shoulder straps from the reel assembly. Then, quickly pull the shoulder straps until the system locks. | (g) The locking system locks and the shoulder straps cannot extend. |
| (h) Slowly let the shoulder straps move into the reel assembly. | (h) The shoulder straps retract. |

| (a) Move the control handle from the LOCK position to the UNLOCK position. | (a) The linkage of the control handle moves at the same time as the control handle. |

| (c) Move the control handle to the LOCK position. | (c) The reel assembly locks. The shoulder straps cannot extend. |
| (d) Move the control handle to the UNLOCK position. | (d) The shoulder straps can extend freely. The reel assembly only locks if you pull the shoulder straps quickly. |
