General Check of the IDG Oil Cooling Tubes
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 24-21-49-010-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.

4. Procedure(1) Open the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)
437AL 438AR.
(b) FOR [1000EM2] (ENGINE-2)
447AL 448AR.
Subtask 24-21-49-110-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Cleaning of the IDG oil-cooling tubes
(2) Dry the tubes with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 24-21-49-210-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) to clean the tubes. - FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
(2) Dry the tubes with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
B. Visual Inspection of the Oil Cooling Tubes for Security
(1) Examine the IDG oil-cooling tubes for security. Use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) If the IDG oil-cooling tubes are loose, examine the items below for damage, wear and loosening:
(a) The attachment nuts and bolts.
(b) The clips.
(c) The tube connection nuts.
1 If above items show signs of damage or wear, replace them.
Subtask 24-21-49-210-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the IDG oil-cooling tubes for security. Use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) If the IDG oil-cooling tubes are loose, examine the items below for damage, wear and loosening:
(a) The attachment nuts and bolts.
(b) The clips.
(c) The tube connection nuts.
1 If above items show signs of damage or wear, replace them.
C. Visual Inspection of the Oil Cooling Tubes for Leaks
(1) Examine the oil cooling tubes for leaks. Use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) If leaks are found:
(a) Examine the attachment bolts and the tube connection nuts for loosening.
1 If the bolts or nuts are loose, examine them for damage and wear. If the above items show signs of damage or wear, replace them.
Subtask 24-21-49-210-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Examine the oil cooling tubes for leaks. Use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) If leaks are found:
(a) Examine the attachment bolts and the tube connection nuts for loosening.
1 If the bolts or nuts are loose, examine them for damage and wear. If the above items show signs of damage or wear, replace them.
D. Visual Inspection of the Oil Cooling Tubes for General Condition
(1) Examine the general condition of the oil cooling tubes. For this, use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) Examine the oil cooling tubes for cracks.
(a) If one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) cracks, replace it(them).
(3) Examine the oil cooling tubes for nicks or scratches.
(a) If one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) nicks or scratches, replace it(them).
(4) Examine the oil cooling tubes for dents.
(a) If the bent area of one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) dents, replace it(them).
(b) On the straight area, if:
1 Oil cooling tube 1 has a dent, replace it.
2 Oil cooling tube 2 or 3 has:
a More than one dent, with less than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents, replace it.
b One or more dent(s), with more than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents (with a depth of maximum 0.075 in. (1.9050 mm) and the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.4224 mm)), the tube is serviceable.
a More than one dent, with less than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents, replace it.
b One or more dent(s), with more than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents (with a depth of maximum 0.063 in. (1.6002 mm) and the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.4224 mm)), the tube is serviceable.
a More than one dent, with less than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents, replace it.
b One or more dent(s), with more than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents (with a depth of maximum 0.070 in. (1.7780 mm) and the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.4224 mm)), the tube is serviceable.
(a) If the bent area of one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) distortions, replace it(them).
(b) On the straight area, if:
1 Oil cooling tube 1 has distortion, replace it.
2 Oil cooling tube 2 has a distortion of more than 0.038 in. (0.9652 mm), replace it.
3 Oil cooling tube 3 has a distortion of more than 0.050 in. (1.2700 mm), replace it.
4 Oil cooling tube 4 or 5 has a distortion of more than 0.025 in. (0.6350 mm), replace it.
5 Oil cooling tube 6 has a distortion of more than 0.035 in. (0.8890 mm), replace it.
(6) Examine the oil cooling tubes for rubs.
(a) If the bent area of one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) rubs, replace it(them).
(b) On the straight area, if:
1 Oil cooling tube 1, 2, 4, 5, or 6 has rubs, replace it.
2 Oil cooling tube 3 has rubs of more than 0.010 in. (0.2540 mm), replace it.
5. Close-up(1) Examine the general condition of the oil cooling tubes. For this, use the inspection lamp and the inspection mirror.
(2) Examine the oil cooling tubes for cracks.
(a) If one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) cracks, replace it(them).
(3) Examine the oil cooling tubes for nicks or scratches.
(a) If one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) nicks or scratches, replace it(them).
(4) Examine the oil cooling tubes for dents.
(a) If the bent area of one or more oil cooling tube(s) has(have) dents, replace it(them).
(b) On the straight area, if:
1 Oil cooling tube 1 has a dent, replace it.
2 Oil cooling tube 2 or 3 has:
a More than one dent, with less than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents, replace it.
b One or more dent(s), with more than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents (with a depth of maximum 0.075 in. (1.9050 mm) and the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.4224 mm)), the tube is serviceable.
- If the oil cooling tube is out of the tolerances, replace it.
a More than one dent, with less than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents, replace it.
b One or more dent(s), with more than 1.00 in. (25.4000 mm) between the edges of the dents (with a depth of maximum 0.063 in. (1.6002 mm) and the radius of the dent not less than 0.056 in. (1.4224 mm)), the tube is serviceable.
- If the oil cooling tube is out of the tolerances, replace it.
