Installation of the Air Cycle Machine

MAKE SURE THAT AIR IS NOT SUPPLIED TO THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FROM THE MAIN ENGINE, THE APU OR A GROUND SOURCE.

Subtask 21-52-21-860-050-A
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that these access panels are removed from the belly fairing structure (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002):
(a) FOR [10HM1] (MACHINE-AIR CYCLE)
(b) FOR [11HM1] (MACHINE-AIR CYCLE)
(3) Make sure that the pipe assembly is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-000-001).
(4) Make sure that bypass valve 10HH (30HH) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-000-001).
(5) On AIR COND panel 30VU, make sure that:
(a) The APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(b) The ENG 1 BLEED and the ENG 2 BLEED pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(c) The WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate these pushbutton switches.
(6) On the HP ground connector, make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to supply the ground air.
Subtask 21-52-21-865-051-A (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
(2) Make sure that these access panels are removed from the belly fairing structure (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002):
(a) FOR [10HM1] (MACHINE-AIR CYCLE)
(b) FOR [11HM1] (MACHINE-AIR CYCLE)
(3) Make sure that the pipe assembly is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-000-001).
(4) Make sure that bypass valve 10HH (30HH) is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-000-001).
(5) On AIR COND panel 30VU, make sure that:
(a) The APU BLEED pushbutton switch is released (the ON legend is off).
(b) The ENG 1 BLEED and the ENG 2 BLEED pushbutton switches are released (the OFF legends are on).
(c) The WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to operate these pushbutton switches.

A. Installation of the Attachment Components
(1) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in their correct installation position in the brackets (1).
(2) Install the bushings (22), (if installed, washers (23)), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
Subtask 21-52-21-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in their correct installation position in the brackets (1).
(2) Install the bushings (22), (if installed, washers (23)), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
B. Installation of the Air Cycle Machine
(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(6) If the anti-ice valve sense-lines are installed, make sure that they are in good condition (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-003).
(a) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) powder as a paste. To make a paste, mix the molybdenum disulfide powder with pure water or white spirit.
(b) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) or Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) on the new AIPC 21-52-41-29-170 PACKING (6), AIPC 21-52-41-26-040 PACKING (15) and AIPC 21-52-41-28-020 PACKING (19) before you install them.
(9) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is in good condition and is correctly installed.
(10) If necessary, replace the lip seal (18) as follows:
(a) If the lip seal (18) is damaged, remove it from the jet pump (80).
(b) Remove the remaining sealant from the jet pump (80).
(c) Clean the bond surfaces with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Acetone - (Material No.08BBH1) .
(d) Make the bond surfaces of the jet pump (80) and groove of the lip seal (18) rough with Abrasive-- Scotch Brite Pads - (Material No.14FAB1) .
(e) Remove the unwanted abrasive cloth particles.
(f) Clean the rough areas of the jet pump (80) and the lip seal (18) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Acetone - (Material No.08BBH1) .
(g) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-Solvant Resistant One part - (Material No.06CDD1) to the bond surfaces of the housing (81) with the BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT.
(h) Let the silicon sealant cure for 2 hours.
(i) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-Solvant Resistant One part - (Material No.06CDD1) to the groove of the lip seal (18) and make sure that you apply the compound equally to the groove.
(j) Install the lip seal (18) on the jet pump (80).
(k) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is installed correctly on the jet pump (80).
(l) Make a fillet edge with the sealant that comes out of the groove of the lip seal (18), on the inner and outer surfaces of:
(n) Hold the lip seal (18) in its correct installation position.
(o) Let the silicon sealant cure for 12 hours.
(11) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (10) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (10).
(12) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the air cycle machine and install the clamp (10).

(14) Put the packing (19) in position.
(15) Put the packings (6) in position on the air-cycle machine flange and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(16) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the pipe assembly flange (2).
(17) Put the packings (15) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(18) Put the sleeve (16) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(19) Install the air cycle machine as follows:
(c) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in position.
(d) Install the bushings (22), washers (23) (if installed), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
(20) Get access to the fan plenum outlet (30) and feel the surfaces around the lip seal (18) with your fingers to make sure that it is correctly installed.
(21) Make sure that the packing (19) is in position and install the clamp (3).
(22) Make sure that the clamp (3) is in the correct position.
(23) TORQUE the clamp (3) to between 0.55 and 0.5 m.daN (48.67 and 44.25 lbf.in )

(24) Move the sleeve (16) in position on the condenser flange (17).
(25) Make sure that the sleeve (16) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(26) Install the half clamp (14) vertically with the clearances in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions.
(27) Install the clamp (13) in the correct position on the half clamp (14).
(28) TORQUE the clamp (13) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )

(29) Safety the clamp (13) with14QDB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(30) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(31) Make sure that the sleeve (7) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(32) Install the half clamp (4) vertically with the clearances in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions.
(33) Install the clamp (5) in the correct position on the half clamp (4).
(34) TORQUE the clamp (5) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )

(35) Safety the clamp (5) with14QDB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(37) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the fan plenum (30) and install the clamp (8).
.
(39) Install the sense line (11).
(40) TORQUE the sense line (11) to between 1.2 and 1 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
.
(41) Put the bonding strap (26) in position and install the screw (25), the washer (27) and the nut (28).
(42) Tighten the nut (28).
(43) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(44) Install bypass valve 10HH (30HH) (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-400-001).
(45) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(46) Install the pipe assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-400-001).
(47) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(48) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 21-52-21-420-050-C ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) To prevent damage to the packings (6) and (15), turn the sleeves (8) and (16) when you move or install them.(2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
(3) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(5) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(6) If the anti-ice valve sense-lines are installed, make sure that they are in good condition (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-003).
CAUTION:
USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED LUBRICANT TO LUBRICATE THE O-RINGS AND THE PACKINGS. OTHER LUBRICANTS CAN CAUSE SMOKE OR A SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN THEY BECOME HOT.
(7) Apply the lubricants that follow:(a) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) powder as a paste. To make a paste, mix the molybdenum disulfide powder with pure water or white spirit.
(b) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) or Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) on the new AIPC 21-52-41-29-170 PACKING (6), AIPC 21-52-41-26-040 PACKING (15) and AIPC 21-52-41-28-020 PACKING (19) before you install them.
NOTE: Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) is applied dry.
(8) Apply a small quantity of Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) to the screw connector of the sense line (11). (9) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is in good condition and is correctly installed.
(10) If necessary, replace the lip seal (18) as follows:
(a) If the lip seal (18) is damaged, remove it from the jet pump (80).
(b) Remove the remaining sealant from the jet pump (80).
(c) Clean the bond surfaces with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Acetone - (Material No.08BBH1) .
(d) Make the bond surfaces of the jet pump (80) and groove of the lip seal (18) rough with Abrasive-- Scotch Brite Pads - (Material No.14FAB1) .
(e) Remove the unwanted abrasive cloth particles.
(f) Clean the rough areas of the jet pump (80) and the lip seal (18) with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Acetone - (Material No.08BBH1) .
(g) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-Solvant Resistant One part - (Material No.06CDD1) to the bond surfaces of the housing (81) with the BRUSH - BRISTLED, SOFT.
(h) Let the silicon sealant cure for 2 hours.
(i) Apply a thin layer of Silicone Adhesive Sealant-Solvant Resistant One part - (Material No.06CDD1) to the groove of the lip seal (18) and make sure that you apply the compound equally to the groove.
(j) Install the lip seal (18) on the jet pump (80).
(k) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is installed correctly on the jet pump (80).
(l) Make a fillet edge with the sealant that comes out of the groove of the lip seal (18), on the inner and outer surfaces of:
- The lip seal (18)
- The jet pump (80).
(n) Hold the lip seal (18) in its correct installation position.
(o) Let the silicon sealant cure for 12 hours.
(11) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (10) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (10).
(12) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the air cycle machine and install the clamp (10).
NOTE: The screw of the clamp (10) is at the 5 o'clock position when you look from the rear.
(13) TORQUE the clamp (10) to between 0.12 and 0.10 m.daN (10.62 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. (14) Put the packing (19) in position.
(15) Put the packings (6) in position on the air-cycle machine flange and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(16) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the pipe assembly flange (2).
(17) Put the packings (15) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(18) Put the sleeve (16) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(19) Install the air cycle machine as follows:
WARNING:
SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(a) Carefully put the air cycle machine in position on the reheater flange (1) and the condenser flange (17) and in the lip seal (18). NOTE: The air cycle machine weighs approximately 22 kg (48.50 lb).
(b) Make sure that you do not cause damage to the lip seal (18) or twist it when you put the air cycle machine in position. (c) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in position.
(d) Install the bushings (22), washers (23) (if installed), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
(20) Get access to the fan plenum outlet (30) and feel the surfaces around the lip seal (18) with your fingers to make sure that it is correctly installed.
(21) Make sure that the packing (19) is in position and install the clamp (3).
(22) Make sure that the clamp (3) is in the correct position.
(23) TORQUE the clamp (3) to between 0.55 and 0.5 m.daN (48.67 and 44.25 lbf.in )
. (24) Move the sleeve (16) in position on the condenser flange (17).
(25) Make sure that the sleeve (16) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(26) Install the half clamp (14) vertically with the clearances in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions.
(27) Install the clamp (13) in the correct position on the half clamp (14).
(28) TORQUE the clamp (13) to between 0.35 and 0.3 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
. (29) Safety the clamp (13) with
(30) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(31) Make sure that the sleeve (7) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(32) Install the half clamp (4) vertically with the clearances in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions.
(33) Install the clamp (5) in the correct position on the half clamp (4).
(34) TORQUE the clamp (5) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
. (35) Safety the clamp (5) with
NOTE: You can install the lockwire only on the clamp(s) with a hole in the screw.
(36) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (8) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (8).(37) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the fan plenum (30) and install the clamp (8).
NOTE: The screw of the clamp (8) is at the 5 o'clock position when you look from the rear.
(38) TORQUE the clamp (8) to between 0.12 and 0.10 m.daN (10.62 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. (39) Install the sense line (11).
(40) TORQUE the sense line (11) to between 1.2 and 1 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (41) Put the bonding strap (26) in position and install the screw (25), the washer (27) and the nut (28).
(42) Tighten the nut (28).
(43) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(44) Install bypass valve 10HH (30HH) (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-400-001).
(45) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(46) Install the pipe assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-400-001).
(47) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(48) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
B. Installation of the Air Cycle Machine
(2) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is in good condition and is correctly installed. If necessary, replace the plenum chamber.
(4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(5) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(6) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(7) If the anti-ice valve sense-lines are installed, make sure that they are in good condition (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-003).
(a) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) powder as paste. To make a paste, mix the molybdenum disulfide powder with pure water or white spirit.
(b) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) or Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) on the new AIPC 21-52-41-29-170 PACKING (6), AIPC 21-52-41-26-040 PACKING (15) and AIPC 21-52-41-28-020 PACKING (19) before you install them.
(10) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (10) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (10).
(11) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the air cycle machine and install the clamp (10).

(13) Put the packing (19) in position.
(14) Put the packings (6) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(15) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the pipe assembly flange (2).
(16) Put the packings (15) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(17) Put the sleeve (16) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(18) Set the air cycle machine in position as follows:
(a) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in position.
(b) Install the bushings (22), washers (23) (if installed), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
(20) Do a check of the lip seal abutment:
(21) Make sure that the packing (19) is in position.
(22) Install the clamp (3).
(23) Make sure that the clamp (3) is in the correct position.
(24) TORQUE the clamp (3) to between 0.55 and 0.5 m.daN (48.67 and 44.25 lbf.in )

(25) Move the sleeve (16) in position on the condenser flange (17).
(26) Make sure that the sleeve (16) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(27) Put the half clamp (14) in position and install the clamp (13).
(28) Make sure that the clamp (13) is in the correct position.
(29) TORQUE the clamp (13) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )

(30) Safety the clamp (13) with14QDB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(31) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(32) Make sure that the sleeve (7) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(33) Put the half clamp (4) in position and install the clamp (5).
(34) Make sure that the clamp (5) is in the correct position.
(35) TORQUE the clamp (5) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )

(36) Safety the clamp (5) with14QDB1 Wire-Locking Dia: 0.5 mm (0.020 inch) CRES Nickel Alloy - .
(38) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the fan plenum (30) and install the clamp (8).

(40) Install the sense line (11).
(41) TORQUE the sense line (11) to between 1.2 and 1 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )

(42) Put the bonding strap (26) in position and install the screw (25), the washer (27) and the nut (28).
(43) Tighten the nut (28).
(44) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
(45) Install bypass valve 10HH (30HH) (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-400-001).
(46) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(47) Install the pipe assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-400-001).
(48) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(49) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
Subtask 21-52-21-865-058-A WARNING:
SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
USE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(1) To prevent damage to the packings (6) and (15), turn the sleeves (7) and (16) when you move or install them.(2) Make sure that the lip seal (18) is in good condition and is correctly installed. If necessary, replace the plenum chamber.
NOTE: This work step is not applicable to the plenum chamber with part number 1816A0000-01 or 1816B0000-01.
(3) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.(4) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.
(5) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are clean and in the correct condition.
(6) Prepare the surface of the bonding point(s)
(Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-803).
(7) If the anti-ice valve sense-lines are installed, make sure that they are in good condition (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-003).
CAUTION:
USE ONLY THE SPECIFIED LUBRICANT TO LUBRICATE THE O-RINGS AND THE PACKINGS. OTHER LUBRICANTS CAN CAUSE SMOKE OR A SMELL IN THE CABIN WHEN THEY BECOME HOT.
(8) Apply the lubricants that follow:(a) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) powder as paste. To make a paste, mix the molybdenum disulfide powder with pure water or white spirit.
(b) Apply a small quantity of Dry lubricant-General Assembly Molybdenum Disulfide - (Material No.03QBB9) or Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) on the new AIPC 21-52-41-29-170 PACKING (6), AIPC 21-52-41-26-040 PACKING (15) and AIPC 21-52-41-28-020 PACKING (19) before you install them.
NOTE: Dry lubricant-General Assembly Graphite - (Material No.03QBD1) is applied dry.
(9) Apply a small quantity of Lubricant-Anti Seize High Temp. - (Material No.03PBB1) to the screw connector of the sense line (11). (10) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (10) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (10).
(11) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the air cycle machine and install the clamp (10).
NOTE: The screw of the clamp (10) is at the 5 o'clock position when you look from the rear.
(12) TORQUE the clamp (10) to between 0.12 and 0.10 m.daN (10.62 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. (13) Put the packing (19) in position.
(14) Put the packings (6) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(15) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the pipe assembly flange (2).
(16) Put the packings (15) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(17) Put the sleeve (16) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(18) Set the air cycle machine in position as follows:
NOTE: This step is not applicable to the plenum chamber with part number 1816A0000-01 or 1816B0000-01.
1 Carefully put the air cycle machine in position on the reheater flange (1) and the condenser flange (17) and in the lip seal (18).NOTE: The air cycle machine weighs approximately 22 kg (48.50 lb).
2 Make sure that you do not cause damage to the lip seal (18) or twist it when you put the air cycle machine in position. NOTE: This step is applicable to the plenum chamber with part number 1816A0000-01 or 1816B0000-01.
1 Carefully put the air cycle machine in position on the reheater flange (1) and the condenser flange (17). NOTE: The air cycle machine weighs approximately 22 kg (48.50 lb).
(19) Install the air cycle machine as follows:(a) Put the support rods (74), (75), (78) and (79) in position.
(b) Install the bushings (22), washers (23) (if installed), bolts (24), washers (21) and nuts (20).
(20) Do a check of the lip seal abutment:
NOTE: This step is not applicable to the plenum chamber with part number 1816A0000-01 or 1816B0000-01.
(a) Get access to the fan plenum outlet (30) and feel the surfaces around the lip seal (18) with your fingers to make sure that it is correctly installed. (21) Make sure that the packing (19) is in position.
(22) Install the clamp (3).
(23) Make sure that the clamp (3) is in the correct position.
(24) TORQUE the clamp (3) to between 0.55 and 0.5 m.daN (48.67 and 44.25 lbf.in )
. (25) Move the sleeve (16) in position on the condenser flange (17).
(26) Make sure that the sleeve (16) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the condenser flange (17).
(27) Put the half clamp (14) in position and install the clamp (13).
(28) Make sure that the clamp (13) is in the correct position.
(29) TORQUE the clamp (13) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
. (30) Safety the clamp (13) with
(31) Put the sleeve (7) in position on the air-cycle machine flange (12).
(32) Make sure that the sleeve (7) is fully installed on the air-cycle machine flange (12) and the pipe assembly flange (2).
(33) Put the half clamp (4) in position and install the clamp (5).
(34) Make sure that the clamp (5) is in the correct position.
(35) TORQUE the clamp (5) to between 0.35 and 0.30 m.daN (30.97 and 26.55 lbf.in )
. (36) Safety the clamp (5) with
NOTE: You can install the lockwire only on the clamp(s) with a hole in the screw.
(37) Make sure that the lock-washer and the screw on the clamp (8) are in good condition and without signs of wear. If not, replace the clamp (8).(38) Put the sleeve (9) in position on the fan plenum (30) and install the clamp (8).
NOTE: The screw of the clamp (8) is at the 5 o'clock position when you look from the rear.
(39) TORQUE the clamp (8) to between 0.12 and 0.10 m.daN (10.62 and 8.85 lbf.in )
. (40) Install the sense line (11).
(41) TORQUE the sense line (11) to between 1.2 and 1 m.daN (106.19 and 88.50 lbf.in )
. (42) Put the bonding strap (26) in position and install the screw (25), the washer (27) and the nut (28).
(43) Tighten the nut (28).
(44) Do the electrical resistance measurement and the final protection of the bonding point(s)

(45) Install bypass valve 10HH (30HH) (Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-53-400-001).
(46) Do not install the access panels at this time.
(47) Install the pipe assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-23-400-001).

(49) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

D. Test(s)
(1) Do the pre-conditioning through the HP ground connector (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) or with the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
(2) Do a leak check of the air cycle machine.
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(4) Do a check of the spray pattern of the water injector (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-012).
(5) Make sure that there is no blockage in the drain line/water injector.
(6) After approximately 15 minutes, stop the pre-conditioning (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
(7) Do the operational test of the cockpit and the cabin temperature control (Ref. AMM TASK 21-63-00-710-004).
5. Close-up(1) Do the pre-conditioning through the HP ground connector (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) or with the APU (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
(2) Do a leak check of the air cycle machine.
NOTE: Minimum leakage is permitted. After the pack operates for some minutes, the leakage of air will decrease because the seals have their correct operating temperature.
(3) Do a leak check of the sense line connections:(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(4) Do a check of the spray pattern of the water injector (Ref. AMM TASK 21-52-00-200-012).
(5) Make sure that there is no blockage in the drain line/water injector.
(6) After approximately 15 minutes, stop the pre-conditioning (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001) (Ref. AMM TASK 12-33-21-618-001).
