A. Inspection of the Pulleys
(1) Do a check of the pulley condition for:
(a) Cracked edges
(b) Signs of unusual wear at the bottom of the groove
(c) Cracked hub
(d) Blisters
(e) Too much play in the bearings or the loose bearings
(2) Do an inspection of the pulleys during the operation cycle.
(a) Make sure that there are no hard points when the pulleys turn.
(b) Make sure that the cable does not skid on the pulleys.
(c) Make sure that the eccentricity agrees with the values shown in this table:
(3) Do an inspection of the pulleys after the run-out.
(a) For each turn of the pulley, make sure that the sideways run-out is not more than:

(c) Make sure that the eccentricity agrees with the values shown in this table:
| PULLEY MINOR DIAMETER | MAX. ECCENTRICITY AT TOP OF GROOVE | MAX. ECCENTRICITY AT BOTTOM OF GROOVE |
|---|---|---|
| Less than or equal to 30 mm (1.181 in.) | 0.30 mm (0.012 in.) | 0.15 mm (0.006 in.) |
| From 30 mm (1.181 in.) to less than 80 mm (3.150 in.) | 0.40 mm (0.016 in.) | 0.20 mm (0.008 in.) |
| More than or equal to 80 mm (3.150 in.) | 0.50 mm (0.020 in.) | 0.20 mm (0.008 in.) |
(a) For each turn of the pulley, make sure that the sideways run-out is not more than:
- 0.25 mm (0.0098 in.) for pulleys with a diameter less than 80 mm (3.150 in.)
- 0.30 mm (0.012 in.) for pulleys with a diameter of 80 mm (3.150 in.) or more.
