A. Safety Precautions
(2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.
(3) If the fuel temperature is less than 0 DEG.C (32.00 DEG.F) and/or the water drain valves are frozen, to keep the flight turnaround times:
Subtask 12-32-28-941-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
(1) You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001) when you do work on the fuel system.
- use the aircraft air conditioning system to heat the ACT,
or - remove ice from inside the ACT with ambient air heat in a hangar,
or - remove the fuel samples 30 minutes after the refuel procedure.
NOTE: Fuel samples removed 1 hour after the refuel procedure remove water content more satisfactory than samples removed after 30 minutes.
NOTE: Do not apply unusually high force to open the water drain valve.

A. Fuel Sampling for Water Contamination
(1) To get access to the ACT water drain-valves, attach the 98D28108293001 ADAPTER-WATER DRAIN, ADDITIONAL CENTER TANK as follows:
(a) Put the thrust rod (2) into the sleeve (1).
(b) Install the sleeve (1) in the water drain-valve tube.
(c) Hold the sleeve (1) and turn the nut (3) clockwise against the nut (4) to hold the water drain adapter in position.
(2) Put the CONTAINER 3 L(3/4 USGAL) below the applicable water drain valve in the correct position below the thrust rod (2).
(3) Use the PROBE - NON METALLIC, FLEXIBLE to lift the thrust rod (2) against the water drain valve and drain approximately 1.0 l (0.26 USgal) of fuel from the water drain valve.
(4) Remove the probe to close the water drain valve.
(5) Hold the sleeve (1) and turn the nut (3) counter-clockwise from the nut (4) to release the water drain adapter from the water drain-valve tube.
(6) Remove the thrust rod (2) from the sleeve (1).
(7) Examine the water drain valve for leakage:
(a) Make sure that there are no leaks.
(8) Put the fuel sample into a clean and sterilized CONTAINER 1.5 L (0.4 USGAL) MINIMUM - GRADUATED:
(a) If you do not do the analysis immediately, seal the container.
