Subtask 11-00-00-120-058-A
B. Removal of the Adhesive Decorative Film
CAUTION: DO NOT USE A METAL SCRAPER TO REMOVE THE UNWANTED MATERIAL. A METAL SCRAPER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE OF THE COMPONENT.
   (1) Preparation for Installation:
     (a) If necessary, identify the location of the adhesive decorative film before you remove it.
     (b) Apply a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) width of TAPE - MASKING on the area adjacent to the adhesive decorative film.
     (c) As necessary, remove the Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) from the top of the adhesive decorative film:
  • Lightly rub the Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) with the PAPER - ABRASIVE (GRADE 320) or the PAPER - ABRASIVE (GRADE 400).
  • Make sure that you do not remove the adjacent paint.
     (d) Use the SCRAPER - PLASTIC to remove the adhesive decorative film from the corner edges.
NOTE: You can use WATER - WARM, CLEAN or the GUN - HOT AIR - MAX OPERATING 55 DEG.C (131 DEG.F) to remove the adhesive decorative film.
     (e) Remove and discard the masking materials.
     (f) Clean the work area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
     (g) Let the area dry.
     (h) Apply a minimum of 10 mm (0.3937 in.) width of TAPE - MASKING on the area adjacent to the adhesive decorative film.
     (i) Use the PAPER - ABRASIVE (GRADE 320) or the PAPER - ABRASIVE (GRADE 400) to carefully rub the varnish edges until the surface where the marks were becomes smooth.
     (j) Lightly rub the area with a very smooth SCOTCHBRITE.
     (k) Clean the surface area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
     (l) Let the area dry.
4. Procedure
Subtask 11-00-00-960-052-A
A. Replacement or Application of the Adhesive Decorative Film
NOTE: More than one person is necessary to do this procedure.
   (1) If necessary, clean the surface area with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-- Petroleum Based - (Material No.08BBB1) .
   (2) Let the area dry.
   (3) Install the adhesive decorative film
     (a) To adjust the durability of the adhesive decorative film, install the different pieces (if there are more than one) as follows:
  • From the rear to the front and from the bottom to the top, with the overlap in the flight direction to prevent the exposure to erosion.
     (b) Make sure that the new piece that is above the last one is 10 mm (0.3937 in.) wide (overlap in the "gravity" direction to prevent fluid infiltration).
     (c) Obey the overlap sequence to prevent the infiltration of fluids because of the gravity.
NOTE: The minimum time between the last paint coating and the application of the adhesive decorative film is 72 hours at 23 deg.C (73.40 deg.F) (for standard paint systems ( SRM 512311) with a total thickness of 0.160 mm (0.0063 in.)).
     (d) Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 15 deg.C (59.00 deg.F) and 35 deg.C (95.00 deg.F).
     (e) Make sure that the temperature of the component and the ambient temperature are aproximately equivalent.
     (f) Put on the GLOVES - COTTON, LINT-FREE, CLEAN.
     (g) Put the adhesive decorative film in position and attach it with Adhesive Film Tape-Masking - - (Material No.05RDA1) not to let it move.
     (h) Carefully and slowly remove the carrier paper from the adhesive decorative film at an angle of approximately 180 degrees.
     (i) Lightly pull the adhesive decorative film at an angle of aproximately 30 degrees to prevent bubbles or to prevent it to fold.
     (j) Carefully and slowly remove the application tape from the adhesive decorative film at an angle of more than 90 degrees.
     (k) If necessary, carefully remove the air bubbles with the NEEDLE.
     (l) Move the ROLLER - RUBBER from the center to the edges to push the adhesive decorative film.
     (m) Make sure that the edges of the adhesive decorative film are correctly bonded.
     (n) Make sure that the ambient temperature is between 15 deg.C (59.00 deg.F) and 35 deg.C (95.00 deg.F).
     (o) Clean the mating surface with the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) soaked with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) .
   (4) Apply the last varnish layer
     (a) If necessary, apply the Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) on all the surface of the adhesive decorative film.
     (b) Apply a minimum of one cross coat layer of Varnish Polyurethane-Low VOC - External Structure (Material No.04SBA3) of minimum 6 mm (0.2362 in.) wide on the adhesive decorative film and its edges with:
  • The GUN - SPRAY, or
  • A fiber soft bristled-brush, or
  • The ROLLER - RUBBER, FOAM.
