A. Check of the Position of the Manual Handle of the Starter Air Control Valve after the Engine Start
(1) Find the access port at the three o'clock position on the right thrust reverser inner fixed structure.
(2) Use the maintenance interphone jack (or an alternative) and make sure that you can communicate with the cockpit crew from the access port location.
(3) Find the 3/8 in. square drive (manual override drive) of the starter air control valve through the access port.
(4) Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE with a 31.5 in. (0.80 m) EXTENSION or more to turn the manual override drive.
(6) Tell the cockpit crew to make sure that on the ECAM WD, the warning message ENG 1(2) START VALVE FAULT/START VALVE NOT CLOSED does not come into view.
5. Close-up(1) Find the access port at the three o'clock position on the right thrust reverser inner fixed structure.
(2) Use the maintenance interphone jack (or an alternative) and make sure that you can communicate with the cockpit crew from the access port location.
(3) Find the 3/8 in. square drive (manual override drive) of the starter air control valve through the access port.
(4) Use a DRIVE 3/8 IN - SQUARE with a 31.5 in. (0.80 m) EXTENSION or more to turn the manual override drive.
NOTE: To close the square drive, it is necessary to turn it clockwise. To open the square drive, it is necessary to turn it counterclockwise.
(5) Make sure that the valve is in the closed position. NOTE: The valve is spring-loaded to the closed position.
(a) Make sure that you cannot rotate the square drive clockwise. (6) Tell the cockpit crew to make sure that on the ECAM WD, the warning message ENG 1(2) START VALVE FAULT/START VALVE NOT CLOSED does not come into view.
