A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

4. Procedure
Subtask 79-21-10-020-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Supply Filter
PRE SB 79-0039
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND BE CAREFUL WITH OIL SPLASHES WHEN YOU DISCONNECT OIL TUBES. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE DEEP BURNS.
CAUTION: UNLIKE THE O-RINGS, THE BACK-UP SEALS ON THE SUPPLY FILTER COVER AND DRAIN PLUG ARE NOT EXPENDABLE ITEMS. DO NOT REMOVE THEM IF A VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWS THEY ARE SERVICEABLE. REMOVE THEM ONLY IF DAMAGED BY TEARS, CUTS AND/OR DISTORTION.
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) under the filter to collect the remaining oil.
   (2) Cut and remove the lockwire from the drain plug (60).
   (3) Loosen the drain plug (60) and let the oil drain.
   (4) Remove the drain plug (60) from the filter cover (40). Remove and discard the packing (50).
   (5) Do not remove the back-up seal (80) from the drain plug, but give it a visual inspection.
   (6) Only if indications are found, cut the back-up seal (80) with a sharp blade. Remove and discard.
   (7) Remove the 4 bolts (70) which attach the filter cover (40) to the lubrication unit housing.
   (8) Remove the filter cover (40) by its 2 integral ears from the housing. Remove and discard the O-ring (30).
   (9) Do not remove the back-up seal (90) from the cover, but give it a visual inspection.
   (10) Do a visual inspection of the cover back-up seal (90). Do not remove if serviceable.
   (11) Only if indications are found, cut the back-up seal (90) with a sharp blade. Remove and discard.
   (12) Inspect the 4 inserts on the housing at the supply filter location for indications as insert pulled out, insert movement, impacted thread insert. If any, replace the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-000-004) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-400-004).
   (13) Remove the supply filter (20) from the lubrication unit housing.
   (14) Discard the supply filter (20) and the O-ring (10).

B. Removal of the Supply Filter
POST SB 79-0039
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GLOVES AND BE CAREFUL WITH OIL SPLASHES WHEN YOU DISCONNECT OIL TUBES. HOT OIL CAN CAUSE DEEP BURNS.
CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE THE BACK-UP SEAL FROM THE LUBE FILTER COVER IF A VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWS THAT IT IS SERVICEABLE. REMOVE THE BACK-UP SEAL ONLY IF IT IS DAMAGED (TEARS, CUTS AND/OR DISTORTION). THE BACK-UP SEAL IS NOT AN EXPENDABLE ITEM.
   (1) Put the CONTAINER 1 L (1/4 USGAL) capacity under the filter to collect the remaining oil.
   (2) Cut and remove the lockwire from the drain plug (100).
   (3) Loosen the drain plug (100) and let the oil drain.
   (4) Remove the drain plug (100) from the filter cover (140). Remove and discard the O-ring (110).
   (5) Remove the bolt (120) which attach the filter cover (140) to the lubrication unit housing.
   (6) Remove the three nuts (130) and the three bolts (120) which attach the filter cover (140) to the lubrication unit housing. Discard the three nuts (130).
   (7) Remove the filter cover (140) by its three integral ears from the housing. Remove and discard O-ring (30).
   (8) Do a visual inspection of the cover back-up seal (90). Do not remove if serviceable.
   (9) Only if damaged, cut the back-up seal (90) with a sharp blade. Remove and discard.
   (10) Inspect the insert on the housing at the main oil filter location for indications as insert pulled out, insert movement, impacted thread insert. If any, replace the lubrication unit (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-000-004) and (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-10-400-004).
   (11) Remove the filter element (20) from the lubrication unit housing.
   (12) Discard the filter element (20) and the O-ring (10).

C. Installation of the Supply Filter
PRE SB 79-0039
F O-ring Installation Area ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Lubricate a new AIPC 79-21-10-01-290 O-RING (10) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (2) Install the new O-ring (10) in the groove of the upper part of the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-280 SUPPLY FILTER (20).
   (3) Prepare the filter cover (40) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BACK-UP SEAL IS INSTALLED. THE ABSENCE OF THE BACK-UP SEAL CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BACK-UP SEALS OF THE DRAIN PLUG AND THE COVER ARE CORRECTLY SET WHEN YOU INSTALL THEM. IF NOT, DAMAGE TO THE SEALS AND LEAKS FROM THE DRAIN PLUG OF THE COVER CAN OCCUR.
     (a) If the cover back-up seal (90) has been removed, you must install a new back-up seal as follows:
NOTE: For a correct installation of the back-up seal (90), it is necessary to put the lip of seal positioned to the chamfer of the filter housing.
       1 Lubricate the new
AIPC 79-21-10-01-260 BACK-UP SEAL (90) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
       2 Make sure that the back-up seal groove is clean and in good condition.
       3 Install the new back-up seal (90) in the groove of the filter cover (40).
     (b) Lubricate the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-270 O-RING (30) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Make sure that the O-ring groove is clean and in good condition.
     (d) Install the new O-ring (30) in the groove of the filter cover (40).
   (4) Install the new supply filter (20) in the filter cover (40).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FILTER PIN IS CORRECTLY LOCATED BETWEEN TWO INNER RIBS OF THE COVER. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
     (a) Install the new supply filter (20) into the filter cover (40) with the filter locator pin correctly located between two inner ribs of the cover.
     (b) Make sure that the supply filter (20) touches the ribs of the filter cover (40).
     (c) Lubricate the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-230 PACKING (50) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (d) Make sure that the O-ring recess on the filter cover is clean and in good condition.
     (e) Install the new packing (50).
CAUTION: DO NOT INSTALL THE BLACK PACKING (50) ON THE DRAIN PLUG (60).
       1 Install the new packing (50) in the recess of the supply filter cover.
   (5) Install the drain plug (60) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BACK-UP SEAL IS INSTALLED. THE ABSENCE OF THE BACK-UP SEAL CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BACK-UP SEALS OF THE DRAIN PLUG AND THE COVER ARE CORRECTLY SET WHEN YOU INSTALL THEM. IF NOT, DAMAGE TO THE SEALS AND LEAKS FROM THE DRAIN PLUG OF THE COVER CAN OCCUR.
     (a) If the drain plug back-up seal (80) has been removed, you must install a new back-up seal as follows:
NOTE: For a correct installation of the back-up seal (80), it is necessary to put the lip of seal positioned to the chamfer of the filter cover (40).
       1 Lubricate the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-220 BACK-UP SEAL (80) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
       2 Make sure that the back-up seal groove is clean and in good condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTLY INSTALL THE BACK-UP SEAL. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY, AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR DURING ENGINE OPERATION. THIS CAN CAUSE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
         a Install the new back-up seal (80) in the groove of the drain plug (60).
     (b) Tighten the drain plug (60) in the filter cover (40) by hand until the head of the drain plug touch the filter cover.
       1 If you can see the green back-up seal (80), it is possible that the packing (50) is not correctly installed. Remove the drain plug (60) and do an inspection.
NOTE: If the inner packing (50) sits on the back-up seal (80), the packing installation done before is possibly incorrect.
         a Remove the drain plug (60) from the filter cover (40).
         b Remove and discard the packing (50), install again the new packing (50) and make sure that it is correctly installed in the filter cover (40) recessed groove.
         c If necessary, remove and discard the back-up seal (80), and install again a new back-up seal (80) on the drain plug (60).
   (6) Do a check of the correct installation of the supply filter (20).
     (a) Turn the supply filter (20) clockwise and counter-clockwise.
NOTE: The filter must turn freely between two filter cover ribs and you must feel and hear the pin stopping against the ribs.
   (7) Install the filter cover (40) with the supply filter (20) as follows:
     (a) Set the filter cover in position. Push the filter cover that has the supply filter into the lube unit housing until it comes against the filter housing flange.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (70) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install the bolts (70).
CAUTION: TORQUE THE BOLTS WITH APPLICABLE TOOLS (PRESET TORQUE WRENCH). DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE BOLTS BECAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
       1 TORQUE the bolts (70) to between 45 and 34 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.38 m.daN ) T.
     (d) TORQUE the drain plug (60) to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Safety the plug (60) to the filter cover (40) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (8) Remove the oil drain container from under the lube filter.

D. Installation of the Supply Filter

F O-ring Installation Area ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Lubricate a new AIPC 79-21-10-01-290 O-RING (10) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
   (2) Install the new O-ring (10) in the groove of the upper part of the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-280 SUPPLY FILTER (20).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BACK-UP SEAL IS INSTALLED. THE ABSENCE OF THE BACK-UP SEAL CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
   (3) Prepare the filter cover (140) as follows:
     (a) If the cover back-up seal (90) has been removed, you must install a new back-up seal as follows:
NOTE: For a correct installation of the back-up seal (90), it is necessary to put the lip of seal positioned to the chamfer of the filter housing.
       1 Lubricate the new
AIPC 79-21-10-01-260 BACK-UP SEAL (90) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
       2 Make sure that the back-up seal groove is clean and in good condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTLY INSTALL THE BACK-UP SEAL. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY, AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR DURING ENGINE OPERATION. THIS CAN CAUSE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
       3 Install the new back-up seal (90) in the groove of the filter cover (140).
     (b) Lubricate the new AIPC 79-21-10-01-270 O-RING (30) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Make sure that the O-ring groove is clean and in good condition.
     (d) Install the new O-ring (30) in the groove of the filter cover (140).
   (4) Install the new filter element (20) in the filter cover (140).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FILTER PIN IS CORRECTLY LOCATED BETWEEN TWO INNER RIBS OF THE COVER. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
     (a) Install the new filter element (20) into the filter cover (140) with the filter locator pin correctly located between two inner ribs of the cover.
     (b) Make sure that the filter element (20) touches the ribs of the filter cover (140).
     (c) Make sure that the O-ring recess on the filter cover (140) is clean and in good condition.
CAUTION: DO NOT FORGET TO INSTALL AN O-RING. THE ABSENCE OF THE O-RING CAN CAUSE IMPORTANT OIL LOSSES DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE ENGINE FAILURE.
   (5) Install the drain plug (100) as follows:
     (a) Lubricate a new AIPC 79-21-10-01-230 PACKING (110) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (b) Make sure that the O-ring recess on the drain plug (100) is clean and in good condition.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU CORRECTLY INSTALL THE O-RING. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL IT CORRECTLY, AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE CAN OCCUR DURING ENGINE OPERATION. THIS CAN CAUSE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
     (c) Install the new O-ring (110) on the recess of the drain plug (100).
     (d) Tighten the drain plug (100) in the filter cover by hand and stop when you feel a counter-torque.
   (6) Do a check of the correct installation of the filter element (20).
     (a) Turn the filter element (20) clockwise and counter-clockwise.
     (b) Make sure that the locating pin is not seated on top of the rib inside the filter cover (140).
NOTE: The filter must turn freely between two filter cover ribs and you must feel and hear the pin stopping against the ribs.
   (7) Install the filter cover (140) as follows:
     (a) Set the supply filter cover in position. Push the cover that has the filter into the lube unit housing until it comes against the filter housing flange.
     (b) Lubricate the threads of the bolts (120) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
     (c) Install a bolt (120) on the lug with insert.
     (d) Install three bolts (120) on the other lugs.
     (e) Install three new AIPC 79-21-10-01-245 NUT (130) on the bolts.
CAUTION: TORQUE THE BOLTS WITH APPLICABLE TOOLS (PRESET TORQUE WRENCH). DO NOT OVERTORQUE THE BOLTS BECAUSE THIS CAN CAUSE AN IMPORTANT OIL LEAKAGE DURING ENGINE OPERATION WITH POSSIBLE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN AND ENGINE FAILURE.
     (f) TORQUE the bolts (120) to between 44 and 35 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.40 m.daN )
T.
     (g) TORQUE the drain plug (100) to between 80 and 62 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.70 m.daN )
T.
     (h) Safety the drain plug (100) to the filter cover (140) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (8) Remove the oil drain container from under the lube filter.
