Installation of the Oil Tank
WARNING:
DO NOT LET ENGINE OIL STAY ON YOUR SKIN FOR A LONG TIME. FLUSH THE OIL FROM YOUR SKIN WITH WATER. THE OIL IS POISONOUS AND CAN GO THROUGH YOUR SKIN AND INTO YOUR BODY.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL DURING THE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION OF THE OIL TANK. IT WEIGHS APPROXIMATELY 20lb (9.1kg).
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

Subtask 79-11-41-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 79-11-41-010-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.

4. ProcedureSubtask 79-11-41-630-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove all for the covers/caps/plugs from the openings.
Subtask 79-11-41-110-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL B. Clean the components
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) , to clean these components:
(a) The oil tank mounting flange.
(b) The oil tank flange on the gearbox.
(c) The coupling (16).
(d) The coupling (18).
(2) Dry the components with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
Subtask 79-11-41-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with cleaning fluid (Material No.V01-002) , to clean these components:
(a) The oil tank mounting flange.
(b) The oil tank flange on the gearbox.
(c) The coupling (16).
(d) The coupling (18).
(2) Dry the components with a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
C. Installation of the Oil Tank
(1) Install the oil tank.
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-11-41-80-030 PACKING (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010) into the groove of the oil tank (21) mounting flange.
(b) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to the oil tank seat on the gearbox casing.
(c) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to the packing (20).
(d) Carefully move the free ends of the oil tank breather tube (1), oil tube (2), oil spill tube (4) and oil tank drain tube (13) to permit the installation of the oil tank on the gearbox casing.
(e) Install the oil tank on the left flange of gearbox. Align the holes on the oil tank flange with the studs on the gearbox flange.
(f) Install the brackets (14) and (22) on the oil tank flange and align with the studs.
(g) Install the washers on the two studs without brackets.
(h) Install the six nuts (23) which attach the oil tank to the gearbox casing.
(i) TORQUE the nuts (23) to between 200 and 180 lbf.in (2.26 and 2.03 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(2) Connect the oil spill tube on to the oil tank.
(a) Connect the oil spill tube (4) to the union (9) on the oil tank sight glass.
(b) Put the clip (3) adjacent to the bracket (8).
(c) Install the bolt (6), washer (5) and nut (7).
(d) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 45 and 36 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.41 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(e) TORQUE the tube connector to between 177 and 159 lbf.in (2.00 and 1.80 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(3) Install the transferable parts.
(a) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-00-20-80-020 PACKING (15).
(b) Put the packing (15) on to the coupling (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(c) Install the coupling (16) into the oil tank (21).
(d) TORQUE the coupling (16) to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(e) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-00-20-80-050 PACKING (19) .
(f) Put the packing (19) on to the coupling (18) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(g) Install the coupling (18) into the oil tank (21).
(h) TORQUE the coupling (18) to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(i) Put a dust covers (17) on the couplings (16) and (18).
(4) Connect the oil tank drain tube.
(a) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-73-48-80-030 PACKING (11).
(b) Put the packing (11) on the small diameter end of the union (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(d) TORQUE the union (12) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
(e) Connect the dust covers (17) lanyards to the bracket (10).
(f) Connect the oil tank drain tube (13) to the union (12).
(g) TORQUE the tube (13) connector to between 180 and 160 lbf.in (2.03 and 1.81 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).
5. Close-up(1) Install the oil tank.
(a) Install a new AIPC 79-11-41-80-030 PACKING (20) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010) into the groove of the oil tank (21) mounting flange.
(b) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to the oil tank seat on the gearbox casing.
(c) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to the packing (20).
(d) Carefully move the free ends of the oil tank breather tube (1), oil tube (2), oil spill tube (4) and oil tank drain tube (13) to permit the installation of the oil tank on the gearbox casing.
(e) Install the oil tank on the left flange of gearbox. Align the holes on the oil tank flange with the studs on the gearbox flange.
(f) Install the brackets (14) and (22) on the oil tank flange and align with the studs.
(g) Install the washers on the two studs without brackets.
(h) Install the six nuts (23) which attach the oil tank to the gearbox casing.
(i) TORQUE the nuts (23) to between 200 and 180 lbf.in (2.26 and 2.03 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (2) Connect the oil spill tube on to the oil tank.
(a) Connect the oil spill tube (4) to the union (9) on the oil tank sight glass.
(b) Put the clip (3) adjacent to the bracket (8).
(c) Install the bolt (6), washer (5) and nut (7).
(d) TORQUE the nut (7) to between 45 and 36 lbf.in (0.51 and 0.41 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (e) TORQUE the tube connector to between 177 and 159 lbf.in (2.00 and 1.80 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). WARNING:
USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
(f) Safety the tube connector with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) . (3) Install the transferable parts.
(a) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-00-20-80-020 PACKING (15).
(b) Put the packing (15) on to the coupling (16) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(c) Install the coupling (16) into the oil tank (21).
(d) TORQUE the coupling (16) to between 225 and 200 lbf.in (2.54 and 2.26 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (e) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-00-20-80-050 PACKING (19) .
(f) Put the packing (19) on to the coupling (18) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
(g) Install the coupling (18) into the oil tank (21).
(h) TORQUE the coupling (18) to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013). (i) Put a dust covers (17) on the couplings (16) and (18).
(4) Connect the oil tank drain tube.
(a) Apply the approved engine oils (Material No.V10-077) to a new AIPC 71-73-48-80-030 PACKING (11).
(b) Put the packing (11) on the small diameter end of the union (12) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-13-911-010).
NOTE: The small diameter end goes into the oil tank.
(c) Install the union (12) on the oil tank (21). (d) TORQUE the union (12) to between 245 and 215 lbf.in (2.77 and 2.43 m.daN )
(Ref. AMM TASK 70-23-11-911-013).(e) Connect the dust covers (17) lanyards to the bracket (10).
(f) Connect the oil tank drain tube (13) to the union (12).
(g) TORQUE the tube (13) connector to between 180 and 160 lbf.in (2.03 and 1.81 m.daN )

(h) Safety the tube connector with the lockwire (Material No.V02-126) . Subtask 79-11-41-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of Equipment:
(1) Install the oil tank pressure valve (Ref. AMM TASK 79-11-51-400-010).
(2) Install the scavenge oil filter housing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 79-22-43-400-010).
(3) Install the oil quantity transmitter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-15-400-010).

(2) Install the scavenge oil filter housing assembly (Ref. AMM TASK 79-22-43-400-010).
(3) Install the oil quantity transmitter (Ref. AMM TASK 79-31-15-400-010).
C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the fan cowls (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-010):
(a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

(3) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
