A. Remove the main oil filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 79-21-06-960-801).
Subtask 79-00-00-210-095-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Visual Inspection of the Main Oil Filter Element for Contamination
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE AND ADJACENT COMPONENTS.
   (1) Examine the main oil filter element as follows:
     (a) Make sure that the BOTTLE - SQUEEZE, the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) and the P05-126brush, short bristle nylon are clean and dry before you use them. If you do not, you could get contamination from a different source in your collection.
NOTE: The metal particles and other contamination from the oil filter element will stay on the surface of the solvent which you used to clean the oil filter element.
     (b) Put the petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027) through the new P05-181filter, paper into the clean and dry BOTTLE - SQUEEZE.
     (c) Put the clean and dry CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL) under the oil filter element.
     (d) Apply the petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027) on the screen area on the outside of the oil filter element with the BOTTLE - SQUEEZE.
     (e) Use the petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027) with the P05-126brush, short bristle nylon to remove any contamination from the outside screen area of the oil filter element. The petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027) may also be applied on the inside of the oil filter element to backflush the contamination to the outside screen area.
     (f) Let the solvent fall into the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL).
     (g) Slowly put the solvent, which is caught in the CONTAINER 20L (5 USGAL), through the P05-181filter, paper or equivalent to catch the contamination in the solvent.
NOTE: Try to keep the contamination in one area of the paper filter.
     (h) If necessary, use the BOTTLE - SQUEEZE and the petroleum solvent (Material No.P11-027) to rinse all the contamination into the P05-181filter, paper.
     (i) If there is contamination, do the steps that follow:
1 Do a laboratory analysis of the contamination from the oil filter element (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-210-811).
2 If the magnetic chip collectors are clean, and there are flakes or chips on the oil filter element or oil filter bowl, refer to the criteria that follow:
a If the debris contamination on the oil filter element is more than an area of 0.500 in. (12.700 mm) in diameter, remove the engine from service.
b If there are less than five chips or flakes in the filter (oil filter element and oil filter bowl), return the engine to service.
3 If five or more chips are found, the engine is permitted for ten flight hours or five flight cycles (whichever is less) while an analysis of the debris from the oil filter is completed.
a If Pyrowear Alloy 53 (AMS 6308) is found in the debris analysis, remove the engine from service.
b All other material types are permitted. The engine can continue in service with a magnetic chip collector, and the oil filter inspection is necessary in 15 flight hours.
NOTE: The criteria contained in this procedure are intended to give instructions for the oil filter debris findings. Magnetic chip collector debris is addressed by the criteria contained in the magnetic chip collector inspection procedure (Ref. AMM TASK 79-00-00-281-802). If one or more type(s) of debris is (are) found on each oil filter and magnetic chip collector, do the more restrictive steps.
