Subtask 78-36-42-860-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):

(2) Make sure that the thrust reverser half doors are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040).
(3) Make sure that the hold-open rods and attachment fittings are removed.
Subtask 78-36-42-040-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL 4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):

(2) Make sure that the thrust reverser half doors are removed (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040).

A. Preparation before Installation as follows :
(1) Make sure that parts are clean and damage free especially check for impact marks.
(2) Washing

(2) Washing
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) If necessary, wash parts with stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or acetone (Material No.CP1039) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) and dry with clean compressed air. B. Installation of the Adaptor Ring Assembly
(a) Install the stop fitting on fan frame.
(b) Attach with washers, bolts, screws and nuts.
(c) TORQUE bolts and screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

(2) Install the lower struts as follows :
(a) Install the lower struts.
(b) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on the lower stops fitting, the lower channel bracket and on the pipe bundle box.
(c) Attach with screws.
(d) TORQUE screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )
.
(3) Install the inner flanges as follows :
(a) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on pipe bundle box and between splice assembly and inner flange.
(b) Install the splice assemblies.
(c) Attach with screws on pipe bundle box.
(d) TORQUE screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )
.
(e) Install the inner flanges.
(f) Attach with washers and bolts.
(g) TORQUE bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(h) Apply a bead of sealant RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) at the junction of lower struts with the lower strut engine .
(4) Install the upper forward seal fitting as follows :
(a) Install the seal fitting.
(b) Attach with screws.
(c) TORQUE screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(d) Apply a bead of sealant RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) between the upper forward seal fitting and the inner flanges.
(5) Install the struts as follows :
(a) Install the struts.
(b) Attach with washers and bolts.
(c) TORQUE bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(d) Safety bolts withCP8001 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002 lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia
(6) Install the upper outer seal fitting as follows :
(a) Install the seal fitting.
(b) Attach with washers, four bolts and two screws.
(c) TORQUE bolts and screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

(7) Install the adaptor ring flanges as follows :
.
(e) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) between upper outer seal fitting and outer flanges No 1 and No 2.
(f) Install the bolts and nuts that install the acoustic panel to the adaptor ring.
(g) Torque the nuts to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
.
(8) Install the upper strut and upper channel bracket as follows :
(a) Install the channel bracket with washers and bolts.
(b) TORQUE the bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
(c) Attach the upper strut with the screws.
(d) TORQUE the screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )
.
5. Close-upNOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all nuts and connections when you have checked their torques.
(1) Install the lower stop fittings as follows : (a) Install the stop fitting on fan frame.
(b) Attach with washers, bolts, screws and nuts.
(c) TORQUE bolts and screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (2) Install the lower struts as follows :
(a) Install the lower struts.
(b) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on the lower stops fitting, the lower channel bracket and on the pipe bundle box.
(c) Attach with screws.
(d) TORQUE screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )
. (3) Install the inner flanges as follows :
(a) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) on pipe bundle box and between splice assembly and inner flange.
(b) Install the splice assemblies.
(c) Attach with screws on pipe bundle box.
(d) TORQUE screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )
. (e) Install the inner flanges.
(f) Attach with washers and bolts.
(g) TORQUE bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (h) Apply a bead of sealant RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) at the junction of lower struts with the lower strut engine .
(4) Install the upper forward seal fitting as follows :
(a) Install the seal fitting.
(b) Attach with screws.
(c) TORQUE screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (d) Apply a bead of sealant RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) between the upper forward seal fitting and the inner flanges.
(5) Install the struts as follows :
(a) Install the struts.
(b) Attach with washers and bolts.
(c) TORQUE bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (d) Safety bolts with
(6) Install the upper outer seal fitting as follows :
(a) Install the seal fitting.
(b) Attach with washers, four bolts and two screws.
(c) TORQUE bolts and screws to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (7) Install the adaptor ring flanges as follows :
NOTE: In order to retain the datum plane of the outer flange aft face, no more than three outer flange segments maximum may be replaced at any one time. No consecutive part changes are allowed.
NOTE: If more than three outer flange segments are replaced per half thrust reverser, replace all five outer flange segments.
(a) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) between lower stops and adaptor ring flanges No 9 and No 10. CAUTION:
TO PREVENT MISMATCH, MAKE SURE THE OUTER FLANGE IS HELD TIGHTLY AGAINST THE ENGINE FLANGE. NO MISMATCH IS ALLOWED OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.
(b) Attach the adaptor ring flanges with the bolts, the washers and the nuts. Do not torque the nuts. NOTE: Do not install bolts in holes 1, 2, 4 and 5 of both sides when you install the adaptor ring flanges.
(c) Tighten the nuts, checking the gaps between the engine flange and the adaptor ring flanges. NOTE: The maximum gap given relates to possible mismatch defect between the fan flange and adaptor ring flange.
NOTE: You can use the HIX3013-0G adaptor ring flange locator tool to secure the outer flange during adjustment.
(d) TORQUE the adaptor ring flange nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (e) Apply RTV 106 (Material No.CP2267) between upper outer seal fitting and outer flanges No 1 and No 2.
(f) Install the bolts and nuts that install the acoustic panel to the adaptor ring.
(g) Torque the nuts to between 75 and 65 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.73 m.daN )
. (8) Install the upper strut and upper channel bracket as follows :
(a) Install the channel bracket with washers and bolts.
(b) TORQUE the bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (c) Attach the upper strut with the screws.
(d) TORQUE the screws to between 53 and 45 lbf.in (0.60 and 0.51 m.daN )

A. Close Access
(1) Install the hold-open rods and attachment fitting as follows :

(a) If necessary, prepare the lower bracket.
1 Apply a thin layer of molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) on the crankpin locator.
2 Install the crankpin between the two cheeks.
3 Install the three spacers, washers, bolts and nuts.
4 TORQUE nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
(b) Install the lower bracket on the outer flange.
1 Install the lower bracket with washers, bolts and nuts.
2 TORQUE the nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

(c) Install the hold-open rod and the upper bracket on the adaptor ring flange.
1 Install the upper bracket on the adaptor ring flange.
2 Attach with washers, bolts and nuts.
3 TORQUE the nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )

(d) Install and attach the hold-open rod on the lower bracket with the quick release pin.
(2) Install the thrust reverser half doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-040).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

. (c) Install the hold-open rod and the upper bracket on the adaptor ring flange.
1 Install the upper bracket on the adaptor ring flange.
2 Attach with washers, bolts and nuts.
3 TORQUE the nuts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. (d) Install and attach the hold-open rod on the lower bracket with the quick release pin.
(2) Install the thrust reverser half doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-040).
(3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
