Subtask 78-36-42-941-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 78-36-42-010-056-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.
D. Get Access
(1) Remove the thrust reverser half doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040).
(2) Remove the hold-open rods and attachment fittings as follows :

(a) Remove the quick release pin from the hold-open rod and the lower bracket.
(b) Remove the hold-open rod and upper bracket from the outer flange.
1 Remove the nuts, bolts and washers which attach the upper bracket on the outer flange.
2 Remove the hold-open rod and the upper bracket.
(c) Remove the lower bracket.
1 Remove the two nuts, bolts and washers which attach the lower bracket on the outer flange.
2 Remove the lower bracket.
(d) If necessary, remove the crankpin.
1 Remove the three nuts, bolts, washers and spacers which attach the crankpin on the cheeks.
2 Remove the crankpin.
4. Procedure(1) Remove the thrust reverser half doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040).
(2) Remove the hold-open rods and attachment fittings as follows :

(a) Remove the quick release pin from the hold-open rod and the lower bracket.
(b) Remove the hold-open rod and upper bracket from the outer flange.
1 Remove the nuts, bolts and washers which attach the upper bracket on the outer flange.
2 Remove the hold-open rod and the upper bracket.
(c) Remove the lower bracket.
1 Remove the two nuts, bolts and washers which attach the lower bracket on the outer flange.
2 Remove the lower bracket.
(d) If necessary, remove the crankpin.
1 Remove the three nuts, bolts, washers and spacers which attach the crankpin on the cheeks.
2 Remove the crankpin.
Subtask 78-36-42-020-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the Adaptor Ring Assembly
(1) Remove the upper strut and the upper channel bracket as follows :
(a) Remove the six screws which attach the upper strut on the channel bracket.
(b) Remove the upper strut.
(c) Remove the eight bolts and eight washers which attach the channel bracket on the strut.
(d) Remove the channel bracket.
(2) Remove the upper outer seal fitting as follows :
(a) Remove the bead of sealant between the upper outer seal fitting and the outer flanges No. 1 and No. 2 with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(b) Remove four bolts, two screws and nuts which attach the seal fitting on the fan frame.
(c) Remove the fitting.
(3) Remove the lower struts as follows :
(a) Remove the beads of sealant between the lower struts and the lower strut engine with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(b) Remove the nine screws which attach the lower struts.
(c) Remove the lower struts.
(4) Remove the lower stop fitting as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, two screws, washers and nuts which attach the stop fitting.
(b) Remove the fitting.
(5) Remove the outer flange as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, washers and nuts which attach the outer flanges on the fan frame.
(b) Remove the bolts and the nuts that attach the fan case acoustical panel to the outer flange.
(c) Remove the outer flange.
(6) Remove the struts as follows :
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire which attaches the bolts.
(b) Remove eight bolts and washers.
(c) Remove the struts.
(7) Remove right splice assembly as follows :
(a) Remove screws which attach the splice.
(b) Remove right splice assembly.
(8) Remove the upper forward seal fitting as follows :
(a) Remove screws which attach the seal fitting on the left and right inner flanges.
(b) Remove upper forward seal fitting.
(9) Remove the inner flange as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, washers and screws which attach the flange on the fan frame.
(b) Remove the flange.
Subtask 78-36-42-110-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: At several locations, brackets are installed on the forward face of the flange with the same hardware that attaches the adaptor ring to the aft face of the flange. When you remove the adaptor ring, reinstall the nuts loosely to hold these brackets in their proper locations untill the ring is reinstalled.
(1) Remove the upper strut and the upper channel bracket as follows :
(a) Remove the six screws which attach the upper strut on the channel bracket.
(b) Remove the upper strut.
(c) Remove the eight bolts and eight washers which attach the channel bracket on the strut.
(d) Remove the channel bracket.
(2) Remove the upper outer seal fitting as follows :
(a) Remove the bead of sealant between the upper outer seal fitting and the outer flanges No. 1 and No. 2 with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(b) Remove four bolts, two screws and nuts which attach the seal fitting on the fan frame.
(c) Remove the fitting.
(3) Remove the lower struts as follows :
(a) Remove the beads of sealant between the lower struts and the lower strut engine with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(b) Remove the nine screws which attach the lower struts.
(c) Remove the lower struts.
(4) Remove the lower stop fitting as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, two screws, washers and nuts which attach the stop fitting.
(b) Remove the fitting.
(5) Remove the outer flange as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, washers and nuts which attach the outer flanges on the fan frame.
(b) Remove the bolts and the nuts that attach the fan case acoustical panel to the outer flange.
(c) Remove the outer flange.
(6) Remove the struts as follows :
(a) Remove and discard the lockwire which attaches the bolts.
(b) Remove eight bolts and washers.
(c) Remove the struts.
(7) Remove right splice assembly as follows :
(a) Remove screws which attach the splice.
(b) Remove right splice assembly.
(8) Remove the upper forward seal fitting as follows :
(a) Remove screws which attach the seal fitting on the left and right inner flanges.
(b) Remove upper forward seal fitting.
(9) Remove the inner flange as follows :
(a) Remove bolts, washers and screws which attach the flange on the fan frame.
(b) Remove the flange.
B. Cleaning
(1) Remove the sealant from the lower struts, the lower stop, the pipe bundle box, the lower channel bracket, the upper forward seal fitting, the outer flanges, the upper outer seal fitting, the inner flanges and the splice assemlbly with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(2) Clean the zone.
(3) Wipe dry zone with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(1) Remove the sealant from the lower struts, the lower stop, the pipe bundle box, the lower channel bracket, the upper forward seal fitting, the outer flanges, the upper outer seal fitting, the inner flanges and the splice assemlbly with a SCRAPER - PLASTIC.
(2) Clean the zone.
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
(a) Clean zone where you removed sealant with acetone (Material No.CP1039) or stoddard solvent (Material No.CP2011) or ardrox 552 (Material No.CP2559) or turco ind 79 (Material No.CP2560) or mag-chem teksol (Material No.CP2566) or degreasol 99 R (Material No.CP2584) or mag-chem skysol (Material No.CP2656) or isopropyl alcohol (Material No.CP1041) . (3) Wipe dry zone with a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
