A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
   (3) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in to position.

   (1) Open the thrust reverser doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040):

   (2) Remove bolt and access door to get access to the aft latch.

REMARKS
1.Inspect the door latches for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-040).
B.Cracks
No cracks permitted
If you find cracks, replace the door latch (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-040).
2.Inspect the related hardware of the door latches for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the defective part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-040).
3.Inspect the bushings for:
A.Wear
The wear serviceable limits are shown in the referenced figure.
If two bushings, on each side of the latch, are not correct, replace the half door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-040). If three bushings are not correct, replace the half door (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-000-040) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-11-400-040).
4.Inspect the stirrups for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the defective part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-041).
B.Wear
No wear permitted
If there is wear, replace the stirrups (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-041).
C.Cracks
No cracks permitted
If there are cracks, replace the stirrups (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-041).
5.Inspect the related hardware of the stirrups for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the defective part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-041) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-041).
6.Inspect the centering pins for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-042) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-042).
B.Cracks
No cracks permitted
If there are cracks, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-042) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-042).
C.Wear
The wear serviceable limits are shown in the referenced figure.
If the wear is not in the limits, replace the centering pin (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-042) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-042).
7.Inspect the related hardware of the centering pins for:


A.Damage
No damage permitted
If you find damage, replace the defective part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-000-042) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-400-042).
8.Examine the thrust reverser structure adjacent to the door latches, look for:


A.Cracks
No cracks permitted
If you find cracks, repair them, refer to CFM56-5A Nacelle SRM 54-30-00 (Cage Code 51563).
B.Loose fastener
Not permitted
If you find a loose fastener, tighten it SPM 707011.
C.Missing fastener
Not permitted
If a fastener is missing, replace it SPM 707011, SPM 704321, SPM 704331, SPM 704332.
D.Damage
Not permitted
If you find damage, repair the damage, refer to CFM56-5A Nacelle SRM 54-30-00 (Cage Code 51563).
5. Close-up
Subtask 78-36-41-410-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Installation of the access door.
   (2) Install the access door which give access to the aft door latch.
     (a) Secure with the bolt.
     (b) TORQUE the bolt to between 44 and 36 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.41 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: Apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all the nuts and connections when you have done check of their torques.
   (3) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (4) Close the thrust reverser doors but do not make the thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
     (a) FOR [1000EM1] (ENGINE-1)

B. Adjustment
   (1) If you have changed a door latch or a stirrup, adjust the half doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-41-820-040).
