B. Get Access
   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-36-00-210-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. General Visual Inspection (GVI) of the Thrust Reverser Door Opening System (DOS)
CAUTION: WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
   (1) Do not discard a part until you are sure there are no repairs available. If you reject a part and no repair is available, contact United Technologies Aerospace Systems (UTAS) for disposition.
   (2) Examine the left and right DOS actuators.
     (a) Examine the left and right actuators for cracks, holes, gouges and corrosion. If you find damage, replace the actuator or contact UTAS for disposition. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-400-801)
     (b) Examine the bolts, bushings, washers and nuts that attach the left and right actuators to the torque box and fitting. Look for cracks, corrosion, wear, other damage and loss of torque. If you find damage or loss of torque, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-400-801).
     (c) Examine the left and right fittings. Look for cracks, gouges, too much wear, corrosion and other damage. If you find damage, replace the fitting or contact UTAS for disposition. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-400-801)
     (d) Examine the bolts and washers that attach the left and right fittings to the engine case. Look for cracks, corrosion, wear, other damage and loss of torque. If you find damage or loss of torque, replace the part (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-02-400-801).
   (3) Examine the left and right thrust reverser Hold Open Rods (HORs).
     (a) Examine the left and right HORs. Look for cracks, holes, gouges, corrosion or other damage. If you find damage, replace the HORs or contact UTAS for disposition. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-04-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-04-400-801).
     (b) Examine the hardware that attach the left and right HORs to the torque box. Look for cracks, corrosion, wear, other damage and loss of torque. If you find damage or loss of torque, replace the part. (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-04-000-801) and (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-04-400-801).

A. Reactivation of the Thrust Reserser System
   (1) Do the reactivation of the thrust reverser system after maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-440-805).

B. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Close the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-410-802):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

   (3) Remove the access platform(s).
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
