CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT NO SEALANT STAYS ON THE EXTERNAL SURFACE. REMOVE IT FROM THE EXTERNAL SURFACE WITH A CLEAN CLOTH BEFORE IT DRIES. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, DAMAGE TO THE SURFACE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 78-32-42-420-058-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Inner Fixed Structure (IFS) Fire-Seals
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Install the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the IFS and the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the IFS and the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(d) Tighten the bolts (11) until they touch the ACOC fire seal (10). Then turn the bolts (11) 1/3 turn more.
(3) Install the lower aft-bifurcation fire-seal (9).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the IFS and the lower aft-bifurcation fire-seal (9). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid, or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the inner fixed structure and the lower aft bifurcation-fire-seal (9) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the lower aft-bifurcation fire-seal (9) in the applicable seal retainers.
(4) Install the firewall fire seal (8).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the firewall fire seal (8). Clean the mating surfaces of the adjacent lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) and upper latch-beam seal (33), if they are installed. UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the firewall fire seal (8) and the seals (7) and (33), if necessary, with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the mating surfaces of the seals (7) and (33), if necessary, withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit . Lightly rub the mating surface of the IFS where you will apply sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) with PU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit . See the views J and K of the figure.
(d) Clean the mating surfaces of the seals (7) and (33), if necessary and the mating surface of the IFS withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seals (7) and (33), if necessary, and the mating surface of the IFS with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the applicable firewall and the firewall fire seal (8) to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the views J and K of the figure.
(g) Installation of the firewall fire seal (8):
2 Make sure you correctly install all of the edges of the firewall fire seal (8) on the seal retainer.
3 Make sure that the foot of the firewall fire seal (8) is fully installed in the seal retainer. See the section A-A of the figure.
4 You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the IFS and the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the IFS and the lower bifurcation fire-seal (7) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the firewall fire seal (8) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the extension of the firewall fire seal (8) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the firewall fire seal (8) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) to attach it along the extension of the firewall fire seal (8).
(h) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to the mating surfaces of the lower forward bifurcation fire seal (7) and the adjacent firewall fire-seal (8). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(i) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(j) Install the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) in the seal retainer and on the IFS.
(l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (7) and (8) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the IFS and the lower IMC fire-seal (6). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the IFS and the lower IMC fire-seal (6) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the lower IMC fire-seal (6) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the lower IMC fire-seal (6) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) to attach it along the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6).

(h) Clean the mating surface of the IFS withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted material.
(i) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surface of the inner fixed structure with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(j) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the mating surfaces of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) and the adjacent lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(k) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(l) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) and the IFS to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the view H of the figure.
(n) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) into the end of the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7).
(o) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (6) and (7) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(p) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the IMC fire seal (5). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the applicable seal retainers and the IMC fire seal (5) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the lower IMC fire-seal (6) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the IMC fire-seal (5) to attach along the extension of the lower IMC fire-seacase fire-seal (6).
(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure.
(i) Install the IMC fire-seal (5) in the applicable seal retainers.
2 Start at the top or the bottom of the IMC fire seal (5) and compress it fully until it touches the internal seal bumper. Do this at 6 in. (152 mm) to 8 in. (203 mm) intervals. See Section C-C.
3 Do Step 4.A.(7)(i)2_ a minimum of three times.
(j) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) into the end of IMC fire-seal (5).
(l) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) sealant fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the upper IMC fire-seal (2). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the applicable seal retainers and the upper IMC fire-seal (2) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the upper IMC fire-seal (2) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the upper IMC fire-seal (2) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the upper IMC fire-seal (2) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the IMC fire seal (5) to attach it along the extension of the upper IMC fire-seal (2).
(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(i) Install the upper IMC fire-seal (2) in the applicable seal retainers with the pin (3) and nut (4).
(j) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(k) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (2) into the end of case fire seal (5).
(l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (2) and (5) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the IFS structure and the upper bifurcation fire-seal (1). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the IFS and the upper bifurcation fire-seal (1) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the upper IMC fire-seal (2) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the extension of the upper IMC fire-seal (2) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the upper IMC fire-seal (2) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the upper bifurcation fire-seal (1) to attach along the extension of the upper IMC fire-seal (2).
(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure.
(i) Install the upper bifurcation fire-seal (1) in the applicable seal retainers and to the inner fixed structure.
(j) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (2) into the end of upper bifurcation fire-seal (1).
(k) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (1) and (2) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(l) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
Subtask 78-32-42-420-059-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Install the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the IFS and the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10). Use

CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE ACOC SEAL, MAKE SURE THAT THE ARROW ON THE SEAL POINTS UP. IF THE ARROW DOES NOT POINT UP, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACOC SEAL OR TO THE THERMAL BLANKETS.
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE ACOC SEAL, MAKE SURE THAT THERE ARE CHAMFERS ON THE AFT SIDE OF THE ACOC SEAL. IF THERE ARE NO CHAMFERS ON THE AFT SIDE OF THE SEAL, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ACOC SEAL OR TO THE THERMAL BLANKETS.
(c) Install the ACOC inlet fire-seal (10) to the IFS with the 14 bolts (11) and 14 washers (12). (d) Tighten the bolts (11) until they touch the ACOC fire seal (10). Then turn the bolts (11) 1/3 turn more.
(3) Install the lower aft-bifurcation fire-seal (9).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers, the IFS and the lower aft-bifurcation fire-seal (9). Use

(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the firewall fire seal (8). Clean the mating surfaces of the adjacent lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) and upper latch-beam seal (33), if they are installed. Use

(f) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the applicable firewall and the firewall fire seal (8) to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the views J and K of the figure.
(g) Installation of the firewall fire seal (8):
CAUTION:
WHEN YOU INSTALL THE FIREWALL FIRE SEAL IN THE SEAL RETAINER, BE CAREFUL NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE FIRE SEAL.
1 Install the firewall fire seal (8) in the seal retainer. 2 Make sure you correctly install all of the edges of the firewall fire seal (8) on the seal retainer.
3 Make sure that the foot of the firewall fire seal (8) is fully installed in the seal retainer. See the section A-A of the figure.
4 You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: After six hours, the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) sealant will be in the tack-free condition.

(g) Mix the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) and catalyst (Material No.PU3-0015) . Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. (h) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to the mating surfaces of the lower forward bifurcation fire seal (7) and the adjacent firewall fire-seal (8). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(i) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(j) Install the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7) in the seal retainer and on the IFS.
NOTE: Make sure that you install the seal with the pressurization holes facing forward towards the engine inlet.
(k) Put the extension of the firewall fire seal (8) into the end of lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7). (l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (7) and (8) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: To make the curing process faster, increase the temperature of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to 140 deg.F (60.00 deg.C) - 150 deg.F (65.56 deg.C) for at least four hours. Make sure the relative humidity is 20 percent or greater during this time. Use LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT the or equivalent as the heat source.
(6) Install the lower intermediate-case-fire (IMC) seal (6). (a) Clean the mating surfaces of the IFS and the lower IMC fire-seal (6). Use

(c) Lightly rub the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) with
(d) Clean the lower IMC fire-seal (6) with

(g) Lightly rub the mating surface of the IFS where you will apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) with (h) Clean the mating surface of the IFS with

(j) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the mating surfaces of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) and the adjacent lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(k) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(l) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) and the IFS to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the view H of the figure.
NOTE: Make sure that you do not apply too much sealant between the lower IMC fire-seal (6) and the IFS. Too much sealant can cause the top corner of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) to tilt and not align with the IMC fire seal (5). See Section B-B.
(m) Install the lower IMC fire-seal (6) to the IFS. Make sure that the flat surface of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) is between 1.033 in. (26.24 mm) and 1.176 in. (29.87 mm) from the edge of the IFS bond panel. (n) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) into the end of the lower forward bifurcation-fire-seal (7).
(o) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (6) and (7) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(p) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: To make the curing process faster, increase the temperature of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to 140 deg.F (60.00 deg.C) - 150 deg.F (65.56 deg.C) for at least four hours. Make sure the relative humidity is 20 percent or greater during this time. Use the LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT equivalent as the heat source.
(q) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. NOTE: After six hours, the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) will be in the tack-free condition.
(7) Install the IMC fire seal (5). (a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the IMC fire seal (5). Use

(g) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to the mating surfaces of the IMC fire seal (5) and the adjacent lower IMC fire-seal (6). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. (h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure.
(i) Install the IMC fire-seal (5) in the applicable seal retainers.
NOTE: Make sure that you install the seal with the pressurization-holes-facing forward towards the engine inlet.
1 Put the IMC fire seal (5) in the seal retainers. Visually examine the IMC fire seal (5) to make sure that it fully engages the retainers. 2 Start at the top or the bottom of the IMC fire seal (5) and compress it fully until it touches the internal seal bumper. Do this at 6 in. (152 mm) to 8 in. (203 mm) intervals. See Section C-C.
3 Do Step 4.A.(7)(i)2_ a minimum of three times.
(j) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) into the end of IMC fire-seal (5).
NOTE: Make sure that the top surfaces of the IMC fire seal (5) and lower IMC fire-seal (6) align with the seal depressor on the engine. Make sure that the top corner of the lower IMC fire-seal (6) is not above or below the top surface of the IMC fire seal (5). See Section B-B.
(k) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (5) and (6) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals. (l) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) sealant fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. (i) Install the upper IMC fire-seal (2) in the applicable seal retainers with the pin (3) and nut (4).
(j) TORQUE the nut (4) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
. (k) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (2) into the end of case fire seal (5).
(l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (2) and (5) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. (i) Install the upper bifurcation fire-seal (1) in the applicable seal retainers and to the inner fixed structure.
(j) Put the extension of the lower IMC fire-seal (2) into the end of upper bifurcation fire-seal (1).
(k) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (1) and (2) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(l) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the fire seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.

B. Installation of the Inner Fixed Structure Pressure Seals
(1) Install the gearbox breather seal (46).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the gearbox breather seal (46). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the seal retainer and the gearbox breather seal (46) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the gearbox breather seal (46) in the seal retainer.
(2) Install the lower aft bifurcation seal (42).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the lower aft bifurcation seal (42). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the seal retainers and the lower aft bifurcation seal (42) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the lower aft bifurcation seal (42) in the applicable seal retainers.
(3) Install the fairing latch beam seal (44).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the latch beams and the fairing latch beam seal (44). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the latch beams and the fairing latch beam seal (44) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the fairing latch beam seal (44) to the latch beams with two bolts (45) and two bolts (43).
(d) TORQUE the two bolts (45) and the two bolts (43) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
.
(4) Install the aft latch beam seal (41).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the aft latch beam seal (41). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl the from the seal retainer and the aft latch beam seal (41) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the aft latch beam seal (41) in the seal retainer.
(5) Install the drain mast seal (40).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the drain mast seal support and the drain mast seal (40). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the drain mast seal support and the drain mast seal (40) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the lower aft bifurcation fire seal (9) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the extension of the lower aft bifurcation fire seal (9) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the lower aft bifurcation fire seal (9) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the drain mast seal (40) to attach it along the extension of the lower aft bifurcation fire seal (9).
(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(i) Install the drain mast seal (40) in the seal retainer.
(j) Put the extension of the lower aft bifurcation fire seal (9) into the end of the drain mast seal (40).
(k) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the fire seals (9) and (40) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(l) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the pressure seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the mid-latch beam seal (39). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) RemovePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the seal retainer and the mid-latch beam seal (39) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the mid-latch beam seal (39) in the seal retainer.
(7) Install the forward latch beam seal (37).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer and the forward latch beam seal (37). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the seal retainer and the forward latch beam seal (37) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the forward latch beam seal (37) on the seal retainer with seven bolts (38).
(d) TORQUE the bolts (38) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(8) Install the latch beam-fan case seal (34).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the inner fixed structure and the latch beam-fan case seal (34). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the inner fixed structure and the latch beam-fan case seal (34) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the latch beam-fan case seal (34) on the inner fixed structure with the four nuts (35).
(d) TORQUE the nuts (35) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(9) Install the upper latch beam seal (33).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the inner fixed structure and the upper latch beam seal (33). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the inner fixed structure and the upper latch beam seal (33) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Install the upper latch beam seal (33) to the inner fixed structure with the three bolts (32) and the three nuts (36).
(d) TORQUE the nuts (36) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(10) Install the forward hinge beam seal (30).
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the retainer support, the inner fixed structure and the forward hinge beam seal (30). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the retainer support, the inner fixed structure and the forward hinge beam seal (30) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support and the seal retainer support where you will apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit . See the view L of the figure:
(d) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the retainer support and the inner fixed structure withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the retainer support and the inner fixed structure with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support, the seal retainer and the forward hinge beam seal (30) to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the view L of the figure:
(g) Install the forward hinge beam seal (30) on the seal retainer support with the two bolts (31) and two nuts (27).
(h) TORQUE the nuts (27) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the inner fixed structure and the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Clean the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.
(e) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(f) If necessary, cut the end of the forward hinge beam seal (30) to attach along the extension of the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28).
(h) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(i) Install the forward outboard hinge beam seal (28) and the adjacent forward hinge beam seal (30) to the inner fixed structure with the two bolts (29).
(j) TORQUE the bolts (29) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(k) Put the extension of the forward hinge beam seal (28) into the end of the forward hinge beam seal (30).
(l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the seals (28) and (30) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the pressure seals into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the seal retainer support, the inner fixed structure and the hinge beam seal (23). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.
(b) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surfaces of the seal retainer, the seal retainer support, the inner fixed structure and the hinge beam seal (23) with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(c) Lightly rub the extension of the forward hinge beam seal (30) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(d) Lightly rub the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support and the seal retainer support where you will apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit . See the view L of the figure:
(e) Clean the extension of the forward hinge beam seal (30) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.

(k) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the mating surfaces of the hinge beam seal (23) and the adjacent forward hinge beam seal (30). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(l) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure
(m) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surfaces of the seal retainer support and the hinge beam seal (23) to fill holes and gaps. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. See the view L of the figure:
(n) Install the hinge beam seal (23) on the seal retainer support with the two bolts (21) and two nuts (26).
(o) TORQUE the nuts (26) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(p) Install the hinge beam seal (23) on the inner fixed structure with the bolt (22) and nut (25).
(q) TORQUE the nut (25) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )

(s) Put the extension of the forward hinge beam seal (30) into the end of the hinge beam seal (23).
(t) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the seals (23) and (30) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(u) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the pressure seal into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
(a) Clean the mating surfaces of the applicable seal retainers and the upper bifurcation seal (24). UsePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove all loose soil, grease, hydraulic fluid or oil.

(d) Clean the upper bifurcation seal (24) withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove the unwanted material.

(h) Apply a thin brush layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the mating surfaces of the upper bifurcation seal (24), the adjacent hinge beam seal (23) and the upper intermediate case fire seal (2). Refer to the manufacturer's instructions. (i) Apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the extension of the seal. Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. (j) Install the upper bifurcation seal (24) in the applicable seal retainers.
NOTE: Make sure that you install the seal with the pressurization holes facing forward towards the engine inlet.
(k) Put the extension of the upper intermediate case fire seal (2) into the end of the upper bifurcation seal (24). (l) Put the extension of the upper bifurcation seal (24) into the end of the hinge beam seal (23).
(m) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the seals (2), (23) and (24) and the adjacent surfaces with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.

Also apply the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) mixture to the inner surface of the end of the other seal. Make sure the layers are between 0.01 in. (0.254 mm) and 0.02 in. (0.508 mm) thick. See the figure:
(i) Install the vapor barrier seal (51) on the seal retainer support with the four nuts (52).
(j) TORQUE the nuts (52) to between 20 and 18 lbf.in (0.23 and 0.20 m.daN )
. (k) Put the extension of the hinge beam seal (23) into the end of the vapor barrier seal (51).
(l) Clean unwanted sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) from the seals (23) and (51) with a lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before the sealant dries. Make the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) flush with the surfaces of the adjacent seals.
(m) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) fully cure before you put the vapor barrier seal (51) into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
NOTE: To make the curing process faster, increase the temperature of the sealant (Material No.PU3-0003) to 140 deg.F (60.00 deg.C) - 150 deg.F (65.56 deg.C) for at least four hours. Make sure the relative humidity is 20 percent or greater during this time. Use the LIGHT SOURCE - HEAT or equivalent as the heat source.
E. Examine all the seals that you installed. Make sure that there are no holes or gaps between the seals and the structure below them. If you find holes or gaps, fill them with sealant as follows:
(1) Light rub the mating surface of the structure withPU1-0003 abrasive paper, 220-Grit .
(2) Clean the mating surface of the structure withPU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl on a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) to remove unwanted material.
(3) Remove thePU2-0001 alcohol, isopropyl from the mating surface of the structure with a clean lint-free cotton cloth (Material No.PU1-0001) before it dries.
(4) Apply a layer of sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) to the mating surface of the structure so that it fully fills the hole or gap.
(5) You must let the sealant (Material No.PU3-0002) cure for at least six hours before you put the aircraft aircraft into operation. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
