CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 78-31-49-860-075-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

   (2) Make sure that the thrust reverser doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-040)

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-49-420-066-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the HCU Bracket and Hydraulic Line Middle Bracket.
   (1) Remove blanking plugs from disconnect line ends.
NOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) .
   (2) Install the HCU bracket
F HCU Bracket ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the bracket on the hydrualic control unit and attach it with bolts.
     (b) TORQUE the nut to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the actuator rod supply pipe on bracket.
     (d) TORQUE the nut to between 410 and 370 lbf.in (4.63 and 4.18 m.daN )
T
     (e) Install the actuator head supply pipe.
     (f) TORQUE the nut to between 700 and 610 lbf.in (7.91 and 6.89 m.daN )
T
     (g) Install the lower blocker door supply pipe.
     (h) TORQUE the nut to between 300 and 260 lbf.in (3.39 and 2.94 m.daN )
T.
     (i) Connect the interface hydraulic hoses on the bracket.
     (j) TORQUE nut of the interface hydraulic hose connected to the supply pipe of the lower blocker door to between 125 and 113 lbf.in (1.41 and 1.28 m.daN )
T.
     (k) TORQUE nut of the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator head supply pipe to between 560 and 540 lbf.in (6.33 and 6.10 m.daN )
T.
     (l) TORQUE nut of the interface hydraulic hose connected to the actuator rod supply pipe to between 300 and 270 lbf.in (3.39 and 3.05 m.daN )
T.
     (m) Apply a layer:
WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
       1 Apply a layer of blindexite RT 342-2 (Material No.
CP2318) on the bracket surfaces in contact with the forward frame.
   (3) Install the hydraulic line middle bracket as follows:

F Hydraulic Line Brackets ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the bracket on the forward frame and attach it with bolts and nuts.
     (b) TORQUE the nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN ) T.
     (c) Install the rod supply junction pipe
     (d) TORQUE the nut to between 410 and 370 lbf.in (4.63 and 4.18 m.daN )
T.
     (e) Install the head supply junction pipe.
     (f) TORQUE the nut to between 700 and 610 lbf.in (7.91 and 6.89 m.daN )
T
     (g) Connect the rod supply pipe on the middle bracket.
     (h) TORQUE the nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
T:
     (i) Connect the head supply pipe on the middle bracket.
     (j) TORQUE the nut to between 500 and 450 lbf.in (5.65 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
     (k) Install the heat shield, half clamps, washer and bolt on bracket.
     (l) TORQUE the bolt to between 30 and 27 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.31 m.daN )

B. Bring the Blocker Door
CAUTION: BLOCKER DOOR LATCH MUST BE OPENED WHEN YOU CLOSE THE BLOCKER DOOR OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
   (1) Manually bring blocker doors to stows position (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-041).
