CAUTION: USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
  • ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
  • ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE PARTS.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
   (2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
   (3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position.

B. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the fan cowl doors are open: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

C. Make sure that the thrust reverser is unserviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-481-041).
4. Procedure
Subtask 78-31-49-420-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Install the Head Supply Junction Pipe.
   (1) Remove blanking plugs from disconnected line ends.
   (2) Lubricate the new AIPC 78-31-49-01-250 PREFORMED PACKING (10) with thrust reverser hydraulic fluid and install it on fixed part of the upper head swivel joint.
   (3) Connect the fixed part of the upper swivel joint on the head supply junction pipe.
NOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) all nuts and connections when you have checked their torques.
   (4) TORQUE nut to between 410 and 370 lbf.in (4.63 and 4.18 m.daN ) T.
   (5) Install the junction pipe on the forward frame.
   (6) Connect the pipe on the middle hydraulic line bracket.
   (7) TORQUE nut to between 700 and 610 lbf.in (7.91 and 6.89 m.daN )
T.
   (8) Connect the upper swivel joint on the upper head supply hose.
   (9) TORQUE nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
T.
   (10) Connect the junction pipe on the lower head swivel joint.
   (11) TORQUE Nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
T.
   (12) Connect the head supply pipe on the middle hydraulic line bracket.
   (13) TORQUE nut to between 500 and 450 lbf.in (5.65 and 5.09 m.daN )
T.
   (14) Install the lower heat shield, bolts and nuts on the forward frame.
   (15) TORQUE nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN )
T.
   (16) Install the upper heat shield, and bolts on the middle hydraulic line bracket.
   (17) TORQUE bolt to between 30 and 27 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.31 m.daN )
T.
   (18) Install the upper half clamp of the middle hydraulic line bracket.
     (a) Install the upper half clamp, washer and bolt.
     (b) TORQUE nut to between 30 and 27 lbf.in (0.34 and 0.31 m.daN )

   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
