Removal of the Upper Swivel Joints
WARNING:
WEAR A FACE SHIELD WHICH IS RESISTANT TO HIGH PRESSURE JETS WHEN YOU WORK ON PRESSURIZED SYSTEMS.
WARNING:
DO NOT GET THE FLUID ON YOUR SKIN OR IN YOUR EYES. IF YOU DO:
- FLUSH IT AWAY WITH CLEAN WATER
- GET MEDICAL AID.
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
- ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST INSTALL HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID AS LUBRICANT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) Make sure that the engine 1(2) shutdown occurred not less than 5 minutes before you do this procedure.
(3) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).

B. Get Access
(1) Open the fan cowl doors: (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-040)

(2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position.

E. Drain of the Lower Rod.
(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the lower blocker door actuator.
(2) Disconnect the lower rod or head supply hose from the lower actuator and letthe hydraulic fluid drain completely.
(3) Reconnect the head supply hose on the actuator.

(5) Reconnect the rod supply hose on the actuator.
(6) TORQUE nut to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )
(7) Remove the container.
4. Procedure(1) Put a CONTAINER 5 L (1.32 USGAL) under the lower blocker door actuator.
(2) Disconnect the lower rod or head supply hose from the lower actuator and letthe hydraulic fluid drain completely.
(3) Reconnect the head supply hose on the actuator.
NOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) all nuts and connections when you have checked their torq ues.
(4) TORQUE nut to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
. (5) Reconnect the rod supply hose on the actuator.
(6) TORQUE nut to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )

(7) Remove the container.
Subtask 78-31-49-020-062-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Remove the Upper Swivel Joints.
(1) Loosen the bolt which attach the half clamps on the middle hydraulic line bracket, remove the other bolt.
(2) Remove the upper heat shield.
(3) Disconnect the upper swivel joint from the rod or head supply junction pipe.
(4) Remove and discard the preformed packing from the swivel joint.
(5) Disconnect the swivel joint from the rod or head supply hose.
(6) Remove the swivel joint.
(7) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
(1) Loosen the bolt which attach the half clamps on the middle hydraulic line bracket, remove the other bolt.
(2) Remove the upper heat shield.
(3) Disconnect the upper swivel joint from the rod or head supply junction pipe.
(4) Remove and discard the preformed packing from the swivel joint.
(5) Disconnect the swivel joint from the rod or head supply hose.
(6) Remove the swivel joint.
(7) Put the PLUG-BLANKING in each disconnected line end.
