Subtask 78-31-41-860-063-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) On the center pedestal, on the ENG panel 115VU, make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to start the engine.
(2) On the overhead maintenance panel 50VU, make sure that the ON legend of the ENG/FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off. Make sure that a WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize the FADEC 1(2).
(3) Make sure that the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) is in position on the right side of the engine.
(4) For the lower blocker door, make sure that the clevis access door is removed as follows:
(a) Make sure that the three screws are removed.
(b) Make sure that the access door is removed.
(5) For the upper blocker door, make sure that the clevis access door is removed as follows:
(a) Make sure that the eight screws are removed.
(b) Make sure that the access door is removed.

Subtask 78-31-41-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of the Nipples on the Hydraulic Actuator
(2) Lubrication
(3) Installation of the nipples
(4) TORQUE the rod nipple to between 300 and 260 lbf.in (3.39 and 2.94 m.daN )

(5) TORQUE the head nipple to between 411 and 368 lbf.in (4.64 and 4.16 m.daN )

Subtask 78-31-41-869-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL NOTE: You should apply a witness line of finish paint EA4 blue 5991 (Material No.CP2245) on all nuts and connections when you have checked their torques.
(1) Remove the PLUG-BLANKING from each disconnected line end.(2) Lubrication
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THERE IS NO UNWANTED MATERIAL IN THE PORTS AND ORIFICES OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Lubricate the AIPC 78-31-41-02-130 PREFORMED PACKING (20) and AIPC 78-31-41-02-110 PREFORMED PACKING (10) with hydraulic fluid NSA-307-110 type 4 (Material No.CP2212) and install it on the nipple. (3) Installation of the nipples
CAUTION:
YOU MUST LUBRICATE UNIONS AND HYDRAULIC TUBES WITH HYDRAULIC FLUID BEFORE INSTALLATION.
(a) Install the nipples on the hydraulic actuator. (4) TORQUE the rod nipple to between 300 and 260 lbf.in (3.39 and 2.94 m.daN )
. (5) TORQUE the head nipple to between 411 and 368 lbf.in (4.64 and 4.16 m.daN )
. B. Extend the rod hydraulic actuator with HIX3007 STAND-HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR ROD.
(1) Install the hydraulic actuator on the extension/retraction stand.
(2) Tighten the actuator with the two knurled bolts.
(3) Remove the spindle from the truck.
(4) Bring the truck to the actuator rod ball joint.
(5) Install the spindle.
(6) Put an appropriate CAN - DRAIN under the hydraulic actuator.
(7) Remove the two plugs from the rod and head nipples.
(8) Turn manually the release square to release the hydraulic actuator secondary lock.
(10) Install the plugs on the rod and head nipples.
(11) Remove the spindle.
(12) Untighten the two knurled bolts.
(13) Remove the hydraulic actuator from the extension/retraction stand.
Subtask 78-31-41-420-071-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Install the hydraulic actuator on the extension/retraction stand.
(2) Tighten the actuator with the two knurled bolts.
(3) Remove the spindle from the truck.
(4) Bring the truck to the actuator rod ball joint.
(5) Install the spindle.
(6) Put an appropriate CAN - DRAIN under the hydraulic actuator.
(7) Remove the two plugs from the rod and head nipples.
(8) Turn manually the release square to release the hydraulic actuator secondary lock.
NOTE: The manual release square of the hydraulic actuator will automatically return to the lock (closed) position after the first cycle of the thrust reverser blocker doors.
(9) Deploy the actuator rod of 200 mm (7.87 in.). (10) Install the plugs on the rod and head nipples.
(11) Remove the spindle.
(12) Untighten the two knurled bolts.
(13) Remove the hydraulic actuator from the extension/retraction stand.
C. Prepare the Hydraulic Actuator Clevis for Installation
(1) Make sure that the sliding bushing is installed on the hydraulic actuator clevis lug.
(a) If the bushing is installed on the clevis lug, install the hydraulic actuator clevis. Go to Para. 4.D.
(b) If the bushing is not installed on the clevis lug, install the sliding bushing.
(2) Installation of the sliding bushing on the hydraulic actuator clevis (Ref. FIG 401/Sheet 3)

(3) Make sure that the sliding bushing is installed on the hydraulic actuator clevis lug.
(a) Apply lubricant Mastinox (commercially available) only to the outer diameter of the sliding bushing.
(b) Install the sliding bushing into the lug.

(4) Install the sliding bushing on the clevis lug.
(a) Apply molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) to the outer diameter of the sliding bushing.

Subtask 78-31-41-420-051-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that the sliding bushing is installed on the hydraulic actuator clevis lug.
(a) If the bushing is installed on the clevis lug, install the hydraulic actuator clevis. Go to Para. 4.D.
(b) If the bushing is not installed on the clevis lug, install the sliding bushing.
(2) Installation of the sliding bushing on the hydraulic actuator clevis (Ref. FIG 401/Sheet 3)

(a) Apply lubricant Mastinox (commercially available) only to the outer diameter of the sliding bushing.
(b) Install the sliding bushing into the lug.

D. Installation of the Hydraulic Actuator Clevis
(1) Apply a layer of protective coating Sealant MC-780 B2 (Material No.CP2318) on the hydraulic actuator surface in contact with the forward frame.
(2) Installation of the hydraulic actuator.
(3) Install the four nuts and bolts which attach the hydraulic actuator on the forward frame.
(4) TORQUE the nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN )
.
(5) Install the hydraulic actuator clevis on the actuator.
(b) Install the pin, the washer and put the castellated nut on the thread.
(c) Measure the braking torque (A) of the nut.
(d) Measure the breakaway torque (A) of the nut (31) as follows:
1 Use the WRENCH - TORQUE to tighten the nut (31).
2 Make sure that the minimum breakaway torque to turn the nut (31) is more than 1.07 m.N (9.5 lbf.in).
a If the minimum breakaway torque is not in the limits, discard the nut (31) and install a new AIPC 78-31-41-02-040 NUT (31).
3 TORQUE the nut (31) to torque (A) plus 24.5 m.N (18 lbf.ft).

(e) Install the new AIPC 78-31-41-02-030 COTTER PIN (30).
(6) Install the hydraulic actuator clevis on the blocker door.
1 Make sure that the bolts protrude through the locknut a minimum of 1.5 threads.
(b) TORQUE the bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
.
Subtask 78-31-41-080-053-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Apply a layer of protective coating Sealant MC-780 B2 (Material No.CP2318) on the hydraulic actuator surface in contact with the forward frame.
(2) Installation of the hydraulic actuator.
CAUTION:
YOU MUST HOLD THE END OF THE HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR WHEN YOU REMOVE/INSTALL IT.
THIS MAKES SURE YOU DO NOT DAMAGE THE RAMP FAIRING.
(a) Install the hydraulic actuator through the forward frame. (3) Install the four nuts and bolts which attach the hydraulic actuator on the forward frame.
(4) TORQUE the nuts to between 70 and 61 lbf.in (0.79 and 0.69 m.daN )
. (5) Install the hydraulic actuator clevis on the actuator.
CAUTION:
ADJUSTMENTS TO THE ROD EYE END OF THE HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR ROD, CAN ONLY BE PERFORMED IN THE SHOP SETTING USING THE FIXTURE PNR Q21806. ON WING ADJUSTMENTS MAY LEAD TO MISSRIGGING OF ACTUATOR AND UNCORRECT LOCK OF THE BLOCKER DOOR. THIS COULD CAUSE THE BLOCKER DOOR TO UNLOCK DURING FLIGHT.
CAUTION:
BEFORE PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING CHECK, THE CLEVIS PIN THREADS MUST BE FREE OF DEBRIS AND CONTAMINATION.
(a) Apply lubricant molykote G rapid (Material No.CP2104) on the pin. (b) Install the pin, the washer and put the castellated nut on the thread.
(c) Measure the braking torque (A) of the nut.
(d) Measure the breakaway torque (A) of the nut (31) as follows:
1 Use the WRENCH - TORQUE to tighten the nut (31).
2 Make sure that the minimum breakaway torque to turn the nut (31) is more than 1.07 m.N (9.5 lbf.in).
a If the minimum breakaway torque is not in the limits, discard the nut (31) and install a new AIPC 78-31-41-02-040 NUT (31).
3 TORQUE the nut (31) to torque (A) plus 24.5 m.N (18 lbf.ft).
NOTE: The nut can be tightened 1/12 of a turn maximum to put the bolt hole in line with a castle of the nut (31).
4 The final torque (A + 24.5 m.N (18 lbf.ft) + 1/12 of a turn) must be to between 40 and 26 m.N (29.50 and 19.17 lbf.ft )
.(e) Install the new AIPC 78-31-41-02-030 COTTER PIN (30).
(6) Install the hydraulic actuator clevis on the blocker door.
NOTE: Before installation, take care to align the clevis holes with the blocker door holes.
(a) Install the four washers and the bolts. 1 Make sure that the bolts protrude through the locknut a minimum of 1.5 threads.
(b) TORQUE the bolts to between 80 and 70 lbf.in (0.90 and 0.79 m.daN )
. E. Remove the Hold-open Rod of the Blocker Door (HIX3002)
(1) Remove the knurled bolts from the blocker door and the lock-out fitting.
(2) Manually bring the blocker door
(3) Install the lock-out fairing and the screw on the blocker door.
(4) TORQUE the screw to between 17 and 15 lbf.in (0.19 and 0.17 m.daN )
.
Subtask 78-31-41-420-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the knurled bolts from the blocker door and the lock-out fitting.
(2) Manually bring the blocker door
CAUTION:
BLOCKER DOOR LATCH MUST BE OPENED WHEN YOU CLOSE THE BLOCKER DOOR OR DAMAGE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Move the blocker doors to the closed position manually (Ref. AMM TASK 78-32-41-860-002). (3) Install the lock-out fairing and the screw on the blocker door.
(4) TORQUE the screw to between 17 and 15 lbf.in (0.19 and 0.17 m.daN )
. F. Connect Hoses on the Hydraulic Actuator
(1) Lubricate rod and head supply hoses with hydraulic fluid NSA-307-110 type 4 (Material No.CP2212) as lubricant.
(2) Installation of the rod and head supply hoses.
(3) TORQUE the rod nuts to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )

(4) TORQUE the head nuts to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
.
Subtask 78-31-41-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Lubricate rod and head supply hoses with hydraulic fluid NSA-307-110 type 4 (Material No.CP2212) as lubricant.
(2) Installation of the rod and head supply hoses.
CAUTION:
USE TWO WRENCHES TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TUBE COUPLING NUTS:
- ONE WRENCH TO HOLD THE UNION, AND
- ONE TO LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN THE COUPLING NUT.
CAUTION:
WHEN POSITIONING THE HOSES, TAKE CARE THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE HOSES AND OTHER PARTS OF THE HALF DOOR.
(a) Install the rod and head supply hoses on the hydraulic actuator nipples. (3) TORQUE the rod nuts to between 150 and 130 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.47 m.daN )
. (4) TORQUE the head nuts to between 260 and 235 lbf.in (2.94 and 2.66 m.daN )
. G. Close Access
(1) Close half door without making thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):

(3) For the upper blocker door, install the clevis access door as follows:
(a) Install the eight screws to attach access door.
(b) TORQUE the screws to between 44 and 35 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.40 m.daN )
.
(4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
5. Close-up(1) Close half door without making thrust reverser serviceable (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-040):
