A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
Subtask 77-21-10-420-066-A
A. Installation of the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Sensor 3
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (3) Do an inspection of the component interfaces and the adjacent area.
   (4) Make sure that the EGT sensor 3 (41) is serviceable.

PRE SB 72-0086

   (5) Install a new EIPC 77-21-10-03-030 GASKET (45) on the turbine center frame (4).

POST SB 72-0086

   (6) Install a new
EIPC 77-21-10-03-025 GASKET (45) on the turbine center frame (4) with the spline on the frame side.

   (7) Put the EGT sensor 3 (41) in position on the turbine center frame (4).
   (8) Apply graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) to the threads and friction surfaces of the two bolts (44).
   (9) Install the two bolts (44) that attach the EGT sensor 3 (41) to the turbine center frame (4).
   (10) TORQUE the two bolts (44) to between 75.0 and 67.5 lbf.in (0.85 and 0.76 m.daN ) T.
   (11) Installation of the lockwire
WARNING: USE PROTECTIVE GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL LOCKWIRE. EACH TIME YOU CUT LOCKWIRE, REMOVE AND DISCARD IT IMMEDIATELY. LOOSE LOCKWIRE CAN CUT YOU OR MAKE YOU BLIND, AND/OR CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
     (a) Safety the two bolts (44) with CP8001lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia. or CP8002lockwire 0.032 in. (0.8 mm) dia.
   (12) Connect the large terminal tag of the EGT harness 2 lead (42) and the small terminal of the EGT harness 2 lead (43) to the EGT sensor 3 (41) as follows:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE EGT HARNESS LEADS ARE IN THE CORRECT POSITION BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN THE CAPTIVE NUTS. IF THE LEADS ARE NOT IN THE CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EGT HARNESS LEADS AND THE EGT SENSOR.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE CAPTIVE NUTS. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE CAPTIVE NUTS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TERMINALS ON THE EGT SENSORS.
     (a) Connect the large terminal tag of the EGT harness 2 lead (42) to the EGT sensor 3 (41) large terminal.
     (b) Connect the small terminal tag of the EGT harness 2 lead (43) to the EGT sensor 3 (41) small terminal.
     (c) TORQUE the large terminal tag of the EGT harness 2 lead (42) to between 32.6 and 29.5 lbf.in (0.37 and 0.33 m.daN )

     (d) TORQUE the small terminal tag of the EGT harness 2 lead (43) to between 17.9 and 16.2 lbf.in (0.20 and 0.18 m.daN )
