A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

   (1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

4. Procedure
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT TWIST THE EGT HARNESS. IF YOU DO, DAMAGE TO THE EGT HARNESS CAN OCCUR.
Subtask 77-21-05-420-051-A
A. Installation of the Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) Harness 2
   (1) Remove all COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
   (2) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the two bolts (62).
   (3) Put the EGT harness 2 (61) in position on the engine.
NOTE: When you install the harness, make sure that there is correct clearance between the harness and the fuel lines, oil line, pneumatic ducts, sensor lines and other hardware. Make sure that the harness does not touch sharp edges on the engine or the engine components.
   (4) Install the EGT harness 2 (61) in the support bracket (64).
   (5) Install the two bolts (62) that attach the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (64).
   (6) TORQUE the two bolts (62) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN ) T.
   (7) Connect the electrical connector (63) to the EGT harness 2 (61) connector (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (8) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the bolt (65), bolt (68), bolt (72), bolt (74), bolt (76), bolt (79), bolt (84), bolt (87), bolt (90), bolt (93), bolt (96), bolt (99), bolt (102), bolt (105) and bolt (108).
   (9) Loosely install the bolts that attach the loop clamps and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the brackets as follows:
     (a) Loosely install the bolt (102) that attaches the loop clamp (101) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (100).
     (b) Loosely install the bolt (99) that attaches the loop clamp (98) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (97).
     (c) Loosely install the bolt (96) that attaches the loop clamp (95) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (94).
     (d) Loosely install the bolt (93) that attaches the loop clamp (92) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (91).
     (e) Loosely install the bolt (90) that attaches the loop clamp (89) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (88).
     (f) Loosely install the bolt (87) that attaches the loop clamp (86) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (85).
     (g) Loosely install the bolt (84) that attaches the loop clamp (83) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (82).
     (h) Loosely install the bolt (108) that attaches the loop clamp (107) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (106).
     (i) Loosely install the bolt (105) that attaches the loop clamp (104) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (103).
     (j) Loosely install the bolt (79) that attaches the loop clamp (80) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (81).
     (k) Loosely install the bolt (76) that attaches the loop clamp (77) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (78).
     (l) Loosely install the bolt (74) that attaches the loop clamp (75) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (78).
     (m) Loosely install the bolt (72) that attaches the loop clamp (71) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (73).
     (n) Loosely install the bolt (68) that attaches the loop clamp (69) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (70).
     (o) Loosely install the bolt (65) that attaches the loop clamp (66) and the EGT harness 2 (61) to the support bracket (67).
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE EGT HARNESS LEADS ARE IN THE CORRECT POSITION BEFORE YOU TIGHTEN THE CAPTIVE NUTS. IF THE LEADS ARE NOT IN THE CORRECT POSITION, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EGT HARNESS LEADS AND THE EGT SENSOR.
CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE CAPTIVE NUTS. IF YOU APPLY TOO MUCH TORQUE TO THE CAPTIVE NUTS, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TERMINALS ON THE EGT SENSORS.
CAUTION: AFTER THE CONNECTION OF THE LEAD WIRES TO THE EGT SENSOR, DO NOT PUT STRAIN OR FORCE ON THE LEAD WIRES OR ON THE ELECTRICAL STUDS OF THE EGT SENSOR. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS PRECAUTION, DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE CAN OCCUER.
   (10) Connect the eight EGT harness 2 (61) leads to the four EGT sensors (109) as follows:
NOTE: If there is any overlength of lead wire (110) and (111), wrap the longest branch of the harness around the smallest one.
NOTE: The EGT sensor has a large terminal and a small terminal. Make sure that you install the nuts on the correct terminals.
     (a) Install the four EGT harness 2 (61) large-terminal-leads (111) hand-tight to the large terminals of the four EGT sensors (109).
     (b) Install the four EGT harness 2 (61) small-terminal-leads (110) hand-tight to the small terminals of the four EGT sensors (109).
     (c) TORQUE the large terminal captive-nuts of the four EGT harness 2 leads (111) to between 32.6 and 29.5 lbf.in (0.37 and 0.33 m.daN ) T.
     (d) TORQUE the small terminal captive-nuts of the four EGT harness 2 leads (110) to between 17.9 and 16.2 lbf.in (0.20 and 0.18 m.daN )
T.
   (11) TORQUE the loop clamp bolt (65), bolt (68), bolt (72), bolt (74), bolt (76), bolt (79), bolt (84), bolt (87), bolt (90), bolt (93), bolt (96), bolt (99), bolt (102), bolt (105) and bolt (108) to between 38 and 32 lbf.in (0.43 and 0.36 m.daN )

   (12) Install the upper Environmental Control System (ECS) duct (
Ref. AMM TASK 36-11-49-400-827).
