Installation of the N1 Sensor
WARNING:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
(a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
(b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
(c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
(a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
(b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).
Subtask 77-11-05-010-052-A (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
Subtask 77-11-05-010-053-A WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):

A. General
(1) Remove all COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
Subtask 77-11-05-420-051-A (1) Remove all COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and connectors.
B. Installation of the N1 Sensor
(a) Lubricate the new preformed EIPC 77-11-05-01-020 PACKING (5) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new preformed EIPC 77-11-05-01-020 PACKING (5) on the groove of the N1 sensor (7).
(c) Lubricate the two bolts (8) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(e) Tighten by hand the two captive bolts (8) of the N1 sensor (7).
(f) TORQUE the two captive bolts (8) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
.
(2) Connect the electrical connector (6) and electrical connector (9) to the N1 sensor (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(3) Install the plate (1) as follows:
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (2) and the bolt (4) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(b) Install the four bolts (2) that attach the plate (1) to segment shroud 3 (3) hand-tight.
(c) Install the bolt (4) that attaches the plate (1) to segment shroud 3 (3) hand-tight.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (2) to between 65 and 58.8 lbf.in (0.73 and 0.66 m.daN )
.
(e) TORQUE the bolt (4) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
.
(4) Install segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
5. Close-upCAUTION:
HANDLE THE N1 SPEED SENSOR CAREFULLY. THE SENSOR IS APPROXIMATELY 20 INCH (508 MM) LONG. DAMAGE TO THE SENSOR CAN OCCUR.
(1) Install the N1 sensor (7) in the fan hub frame (10) as follows: (a) Lubricate the new preformed EIPC 77-11-05-01-020 PACKING (5) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
(b) Install the new preformed EIPC 77-11-05-01-020 PACKING (5) on the groove of the N1 sensor (7).
(c) Lubricate the two bolts (8) with engine oil (Material No.CP2442) .
CAUTION:
MAKE SURE THAT THE HOLES ARE CORRECTLY ALIGNED. IF THEY ARE NOT ALIGNED, DAMAGE TO THE SENSOR CAN OCCUR.
(d) Install the N1 sensor (7) in the fan hub frame (10). (e) Tighten by hand the two captive bolts (8) of the N1 sensor (7).
(f) TORQUE the two captive bolts (8) to between 124 and 106 lbf.in (1.40 and 1.20 m.daN )
. (2) Connect the electrical connector (6) and electrical connector (9) to the N1 sensor (7) (Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
(3) Install the plate (1) as follows:
(a) Lubricate the threads of the four bolts (2) and the bolt (4) with graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) .
(b) Install the four bolts (2) that attach the plate (1) to segment shroud 3 (3) hand-tight.
(c) Install the bolt (4) that attaches the plate (1) to segment shroud 3 (3) hand-tight.
(d) TORQUE the four bolts (2) to between 65 and 58.8 lbf.in (0.73 and 0.66 m.daN )

. (4) Install segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
