4. Procedure
Subtask 75-31-50-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Make sure that the translating nut of the bleed valve and ballscrew actuator can move freely.
Subtask 75-31-50-820-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
B. Precaution before installation
   (1) Set bleed valve near closed position.
   (2) Make sure that the bleed valve stop mechanism is in CLOSED stop position as follows:
     (a) Turn counterclockwise (aft looking forward) the main flexible shaft (80) engaged in the bleed valve stop mechanism (140) and the bleed valve fuel gear motor assembly (10).
Subtask 75-31-50-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: TAKE CARE NOT TO DAMAGE THE PROTECTIVE BOOT ON THE STOP MECHANISM.
C. Installation of the Bleed Valve and Master Ballscrew Actuator Assembly
PRE SB CFM56-5 72-469
Not applicable
POST SB CFM56-5 72-469
CAUTION: THE INNER DIAMETER OF THE NEW FERRULE HAS BEEN INCREASED AS THE HEXAGONAL END OF THE NEW MAIN FLEXIBLE SHAFT HAS BEEN ENLARGED.
   (1) Main flexible shaft/ferrule configuration.
Do not intermix old and new configurations of main flexible shaft/ferrule assembly.
END OF SB CFM56-5 72-469
   (2) Push main flexible shaft (80) into bleed valve stop mechanism (140) and bleed valve fuel gear motor assembly (10). Make sure the spring is present onto the main flexible shaft.
   (3) Visually check for the presence of the silicone rubber plug (replace the bleed valve and master ballscrew actuator if missing).
   (4) Install bleed valve and master ballscrew actuator (40).
   (5) Release main flexible shaft so that it comes against master ballscrew actuator (40) and bleed valve stop mechanism (140) mating face.
NOTE: A slight rotation of the main flexible shaft (Clockwise (CW) or Counterclockwise (CCW)) may be necessary to get the correct engagement of the main flexible shaft in the hex drive of bleed valve and master ballscrew actuator.
   (6) Complete master ballscrew actuator installation by engaging main flexible shaft in its housing.
   (7) Hand-tighten screws (70) securing bleed valve and master ballscrew actuator to 9 o'clock strut.
NOTE: Do not lubricate threaded part of bolts.
   (8) Hand-tighten horizontal bolts (210) then vertical bolts (130).
Subtask 75-31-50-820-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
D. Check of the Correct Position of the Variable Bleed Valve (VBV) Door
   (1) Check that VBV door penetrates in fan frame. If not, perform the following :
     (a) Disengage main flexible shaft hexagonal end by pushing it into the bleed valve stop mechanism/bleed valve fuel gear motor assembly. Use an ALLEN KEY - DRIVER 2 MM (5/64 IN) across flats.
     (b) Rotate bleed valve and master ballscrew actuator (40) control drive (100) to move VBV door (110) using a 856A2501 WRENCH-VBV MANUAL CONTROL (856A2501G01). Check that door is correctly centered in fan frame seat.
