3. Job Set-up
Subtask 75-31-05-941-053-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) are in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Make sure that the WARNING NOTICE(S) is in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-809).

D. Get Access
   (1) Make sure that the right thrust-reverser cowl-door is open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 75-31-05-420-051-A
A. Installation of the Right VBV Actuator
   (1) Remove all the COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION from the openings, tubes, hoses and disconnected connectors.
   (2) Put the right VBV actuator (2) in position on the fan hub frame (1).
   (3) Apply graphite grease (Material No.CP2101) on the threads of the bolt (9).
   (4) Install the bolt (9) and the washer (16) to attach the bonding strap (8) to the fan hub frame (1).
   (5) TORQUE the bolt (9) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
NOTE: The bolt (7) and the bonding strap (8) are components of the VBV actuator (2) and must not be removed.
   (6) Apply graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) on the threads of the bolt (14).
   (7) Install the bolt (14) that attaches the right VBV actuator (2) to the actuator turnbuckle clevis (15).
   (8) TORQUE the bolt (14) to between 101.8 and 92.2 lbf.in (1.15 and 1.04 m.daN ) T.
   (9) Apply graphite grease (Material No.
CP2101) on the threads of the bolts (6).
   (10) Install the three bolts (6) that attach the right VBV actuator (2) to the fan hub frame (1).
   (11) Put the new EIPC 73-00-00-20-560 GASKET SEAL (10) between the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (12) and the right VBV actuator (2).
   (12) Apply engine oil (Material No.
CP2442) on the threads of the four bolts (11).
   (13) Install the four bolts (11) that attach the VBV-VSV fuel-hydraulic manifold (12) to the right VBV actuator (2).
   (14) TORQUE the four bolts (11) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.
   (15) TORQUE the three bolts (6) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

   (16) Connection of the electrical connectors:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Connect the electrical connector (13) to the right VBV actuator (2) receptacle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT:
  • YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR UNDER STRESS, AND
  • THE CONNECTOR DOES NOT MOVE AFTER YOU FULLY ENGAGE IT.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS, FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: TIGHTEN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTOR UNTIL YOU CANNOT SEE THE COLOR MARK ON THE RECEPTACLE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM CAN OCCUR.
       1 Tighten the coupling ring. Use PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT, if necessary (
Ref. AMM TASK 70-70-00-910-804).
   (17) Apply engine oil (Material No.CP2442) on the threads of the two bolts (5).

   (18) Install the support bracket (3) in position on the support bracket (4).
   (19) Install the two bolts (5) that attach the support bracket (3) to the support bracket (4).
   (20) TORQUE the two bolts (5) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN ) T.

   (21) Install the support brackets (3) and (17) in position on the support bracket (4).
   (22) Install the two bolts (18) that attach the support brackets (3) and (17) to the support bracket (4).
   (23) Torque the two bolts (18) to between 120 and 110 lbf.in (1.36 and 1.24 m.daN )

   (24) Install VBV duct 3 (
Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-80-400-801).
   (25) Install segment shroud 3 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
   (26) Install segment shroud 2 (Ref. AMM TASK 72-24-01-400-801).
