Installation of the Electronic Engine Control (EEC) Wiring Harness (WC08)

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE OIL AND THE ADJACENT COMPONENTS CAN STAY HOT FOR A LONG TIME. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, INJURY CAN OCCUR.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Ground Maintenance
Subtask 73-21-68-010-057-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
(1) Make sure that you did the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for ground maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-805). D. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position.
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that the thrust reverser cowl-doors are open (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-802):
(a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENG 1)

(2) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position.
CAUTION:
WIPE CLEAN ALL PARTS AND TOOLS AS NECESSARY TO REMOVE UNWANTED DEBRIS AND PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
Subtask 73-21-68-420-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL A. Installation of EEC Wiring Harness WC08
(1) Removal of the protection covers:
(2) Put the harness (WC08) (1) on the engine. See sheets 1 thru 5 of the figure.
(3) Install the bracket (4) on the two brackets and the harness (W04) bracket as follows: See sheet 6 of the figure.
(a) Apply the Anti-Seize Paste (Material No.P06-054) on the threads of the two bolts (2) and (3).
1 Tighten the two bolts (3) with your fingers.
(c) Install the bracket (4) on the harness (W04) bracket with the two bolts (2).
1 Tighten the two bolts (2) with your fingers.
(d) TORQUE the two bolts (3) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
.
(e) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.
(4) Connect the connectors of the harness (WC08) (1) to the engine components as follows:
(a) Connect the connector (P108) to the receptacle (J108) of the harness (W04) as follows: See sheet 6 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(b) Connect the connector (P109) to the receptacle (J109) of the harness (W04) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(c) Connect the connector (P25) to the receptacle (J25) of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Stator Vane Actuator (SVA) as follows: See sheet 8 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(d) Connect the connector (P31) to the receptacle (J31) of the turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) air valve as follows: See sheet 9 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(e) Connect the connector (P21) to the receptacle (J21) of the buffer air-valve solenoid as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(f) Connect the connector (P15) to the receptacle (J15) of the Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC) as follows: See sheet 10 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(g) Connect the connector (P26) to the receptacle (J26) of the Starter Air Control (SAC) valve as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(h) Connect the connector (P30) to the receptacle (J30) of the starter as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(i) Connect the connector (P34) to the receptacle (J34) of the Fuel Filter Differential Pressure (FFDP) sensor as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(j) Connect the connector (P65) to the receptacle (J65) of the core temperature sensor as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(k) Connect the connector (P27) to the receptacle (J27) of the fuel flow transmitter as follows: See sheet 11 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(l) Connect the connector (P46) to the receptacle (J46) of the fuel flow divider as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.

(5) Wind the EIPC 73-21-68-01-130 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (5) around the harness (WC08) (1) between 5.0 in. (127.0 mm) and 7.0 in. (177.8 mm) at the spring clip. See sheets 2 and 12 of the figure:
(a) The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape must be in the center of the spring clip.
(6) Wind the EIPC 73-21-68-01-130 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (5) around the harness (WC08) (1) where it divides.

(7) Install the harness (WC08) (1) in the 15 spring clips as follows: See sheet 7 of the figure.
(a) Start at the middle of the harness (WC08) (1).
(b) Position and push the harness (WC08) (1) into the 15 spring clips.
(c) Make sure that all the spring clips are engaged with the harness (WC08) (1).
(d) Make sure that the tension in the harness (WC08) (1) is sufficient to prevent loose or tight conditions.
(8) Examine the harness (WC08) (1) for contact with the engine hardware which can cause chafing.
(9) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(10) Installation of the protection covers:
5. Close-up(1) Removal of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
REMOVE THE PROTECTION COVERS FROM THE OPENINGS AS NECESSARY TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE.
(a) Make sure that you remove all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine. (2) Put the harness (WC08) (1) on the engine. See sheets 1 thru 5 of the figure.
(3) Install the bracket (4) on the two brackets and the harness (W04) bracket as follows: See sheet 6 of the figure.
(a) Apply the Anti-Seize Paste (Material No.P06-054) on the threads of the two bolts (2) and (3).
NOTE: For the new or refurbished bolts or nuts with baked-on lubricant, do not do the wet application.
(b) Install the bracket (4) on the two brackets with the two bolts (3).1 Tighten the two bolts (3) with your fingers.
(c) Install the bracket (4) on the harness (W04) bracket with the two bolts (2).
1 Tighten the two bolts (2) with your fingers.
(d) TORQUE the two bolts (3) to between 100 and 90 lbf.in (1.13 and 1.02 m.daN )
.(e) TORQUE the two bolts (2) to between 44 and 38 lbf.in (0.50 and 0.43 m.daN )
.(4) Connect the connectors of the harness (WC08) (1) to the engine components as follows:
(a) Connect the connector (P108) to the receptacle (J108) of the harness (W04) as follows: See sheet 6 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(b) Connect the connector (P109) to the receptacle (J109) of the harness (W04) as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(c) Connect the connector (P25) to the receptacle (J25) of the High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Stator Vane Actuator (SVA) as follows: See sheet 8 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.

5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(d) Connect the connector (P31) to the receptacle (J31) of the turbine Active Clearance Control (ACC) air valve as follows: See sheet 9 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(e) Connect the connector (P21) to the receptacle (J21) of the buffer air-valve solenoid as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(f) Connect the connector (P15) to the receptacle (J15) of the Integrated Fuel Pump and Control (IFPC) as follows: See sheet 10 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(g) Connect the connector (P26) to the receptacle (J26) of the Starter Air Control (SAC) valve as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(h) Connect the connector (P30) to the receptacle (J30) of the starter as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(i) Connect the connector (P34) to the receptacle (J34) of the Fuel Filter Differential Pressure (FFDP) sensor as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(j) Connect the connector (P65) to the receptacle (J65) of the core temperature sensor as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(k) Connect the connector (P27) to the receptacle (J27) of the fuel flow transmitter as follows: See sheet 11 of the figure.
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.
(l) Connect the connector (P46) to the receptacle (J46) of the fuel flow divider as follows:
1 Examine, align and engage the connector.
2 Lightly push the connector while you tighten the coupling ring.
3 Use the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT to tighten the connector against the receptacle.
4 Make sure that you can feel the ratchet feature.
5 While you tighten the connector, push it from side to side.
6 Tighten the connector until the PLIERS - JAWED, SOFT slip on the connector ring.

(5) Wind the EIPC 73-21-68-01-130 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (5) around the harness (WC08) (1) between 5.0 in. (127.0 mm) and 7.0 in. (177.8 mm) at the spring clip. See sheets 2 and 12 of the figure:
(a) The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape must be in the center of the spring clip.
(6) Wind the EIPC 73-21-68-01-130 TAPE - PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE (5) around the harness (WC08) (1) where it divides.

(7) Install the harness (WC08) (1) in the 15 spring clips as follows: See sheet 7 of the figure.

(8) Examine the harness (WC08) (1) for contact with the engine hardware which can cause chafing.
(9) Examine the assembly for foreign objects, damage and correct assembly.
(10) Installation of the protection covers:
CAUTION:
INSTALL PROTECTION COVERS ON ALL THE OPENINGS IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE.
(a) Make sure that you install all the necessary COVER - PROTECTION to prevent damage to the engine.Subtask 73-21-68-710-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Test(s)
(1) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

(2) Do the EEC operation test (self-test) (Ref. AMM TASK 73-21-00-710-806).
Subtask 73-21-68-410-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Make sure that all the circuit breakers shown in the paragraph Procedure of the engine interface unit installation are closed. If they are not, close them in the recommended sequence

B. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close the right thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-410-802):
