WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO WORK ON THE ENGINE PARTS AFTER THE ENGINE SHUTDOWN. USE APPLICABLE THERMAL GLOVES. THE ENGINE PARTS CAN STAY HOT FOR ONE HOUR AFTER SHUTDOWN AND CAN BURN YOU.

1. Reason for the Job
A. A two-person alternative method is available for the EEC installation/removal procedures.
(1) A minimum of two persons are necessary to handle the EEC during the installation/removal procedures if the jack stand and the EEC adapter support equipment are not used.
B. The weight of the EEC is approximately 37 lb (16.8 kg).

3. Job Set-up
Subtask 73-21-55-740-052-A
A. Do the following task:
CAUTION: IF YOU REPROGRAM THE TWO CHANNELS, PRINT THE INSTALLED FAN-BALANCE WEIGHTS AND ENTER THEM AGAIN IN THE EEC. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE ENGINE FAN-BALANCE WEIGHTS WILL NOT AGREE WITH THE WEIGHTS SAVED IN THE EEC MEMORY. THIS CAN CAUSE INCORRECT FAN-TRIM-BALANCE CALCULATION AND A FAN UNBALANCE.
   (1) Do a print-out of the engine hours and cycles (Ref. AMM TASK 31-36-00-740-015).
   (2) Do a print-out of the Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) identification report (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-740-809).
   (3) Do a print-out of the Nacelle Anti-Icing (NAI) lock-open configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-808).
   (4) If the EEC B installation is part of a dual channel replacement (EEC A and EEC B are replaced), do a print-out of the fan balance weight configuration (Ref. AMM TASK 73-29-00-710-804). Do this step on the two channels.
   (5) Do a print-out of the Oil Debris Monitoring System (ODMS) chip count (Ref. AMM TASK 79-36-00-740-801).

B. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch, and
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):

4. Procedure
Subtask 73-21-55-020-052-A
A. Removal of the EEC Channel B

PRE CFM SB 73-00-0010 and PRE CFM SB 73-00-0024
   (1) Disconnect the harness connectors from the applicable receptacles of EEC channel B (1):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the HJ8B harness electrical connector (3) from EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Disconnect the HJ7A harness electrical connector (4) from EEC channel B (1).
     (c) Disconnect the HJ6B harness electrical connector (5) from EEC channel B (1).
     (d) Disconnect the HJ5B harness electrical connector (6) from EEC channel B (1).
     (e) Disconnect the HJ4B harness electrical connector (7) from EEC channel B (1).
     (f) Disconnect the HJ3B harness electrical connector (8) from EEC channel B (1).
     (g) Disconnect the HJ2B harness electrical connector (9) from EEC channel B (1).

POST CFM SB 73-0016

     (h) Disconnect the HJ9B harness electrical connector (19) from EEC channel B (1). See the sheet 2 of the figure:

   (2) Remove the EEC cooling duct (2) from EEC channel B (1):
     (a) Loosen the screw (10) from the clamp (11) that attaches the EEC cooling duct (2) to EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Remove the clamp (11) from the EEC cooling duct (2).
     (c) Disconnect the EEC cooling duct (2) from EEC channel B (1).
   (3) Remove EEC channel B (1) from the mounting brackets (13):
NOTE: If the two-person alternative method is used, Para. 4.A.(3)(a), Para. 4.A.(3)(b), Para. 4.A.(3)(e) and Para. 4.A.(3)(f) must not be done.
     (a) Install the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC on EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Install the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (c) Loosen the four bolts (12) that attach EEC channel B (1) to the four mounting brackets (13).
     (d) Remove EEC channel B (1) with its bonding jumpers from the mounting brackets (13).
     (e) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (f) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from EEC channel B (1).
   (4) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.

B. Removal of the EEC Channel B

POST CFM SB 73-00-0010 and PRE CFM SB 73-00-0024
   (1) Disconnect the harness connectors from the applicable receptacles of EEC channel B (1):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the HJ8B harness electrical connector (3) from EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Disconnect the HJ7A harness electrical connector (4) from EEC channel B (1).
     (c) Disconnect the HJ6B harness electrical connector (5) from EEC channel B (1).
     (d) Disconnect the HJ5B harness electrical connector (6) from EEC channel B (1).
     (e) Disconnect the HJ4B harness electrical connector (7) from EEC channel B (1).
     (f) Disconnect the HJ3B harness electrical connector (8) from EEC channel B (1).
     (g) Disconnect the HJ2B harness electrical connector (9) from EEC channel B (1).

POST CFM SB 73-0016

     (h) Disconnect the HJ9B harness electrical connector (19) from EEC channel B (1).

END OF POST CFM SB 73-0016

   (2) Remove the EEC cooling duct (2) from EEC channel B (1):
     (a) Loosen the screw (10) from the clamp (11) that attaches the EEC cooling duct (2) to EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Remove the clamp (11) from the EEC cooling duct (2).
     (c) Disconnect the EEC cooling duct (2) from EEC channel B (1).
   (3) Remove EEC channel B (1) from the mounting brackets (13):
NOTE: If the two-person alternative method is used, Para. 4.B.(3)(a), Para. 4.B.(3)(b), Para. 4.B.(3)(h) and Para. 4.B.(3)(i) must not be done.
     (a) Install the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC on EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Install the956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC on the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (c) Remove the bolts (21) and the nuts (22) that attach the retaining cables (23) and (24). It is possible to keep the nuts and the bolts with the retaining cables.
     (d) Remove the bolts (21) and the nuts (22) that attach the retaining cable (25). It is possible to keep the nut and the bolts with the retaining cable.

PRE CFM SB 73-0016

     (e) Remove the cap from the J9 connector of the EEC which is tied to the engine.
NOTE: The cap is attached to the engine. It is possible to unscrew the cap from the EEC and keep it attached to the engine.

     (f) Loosen the four bolts (12) that attach EEC channel B (1) to the four mounting brackets (13).
     (g) Remove EEC channel B (1) with its bonding jumpers from the mounting brackets (13).
     (h) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (i) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from EEC channel B (1).
   (4) Install the COVER - PROTECTION and the CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.

C. Removal of EEC Channel B

POST CFM SB 73-00-0024
   (1) Disconnect the harness connectors from the applicable receptacles of EEC channel B (1):
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE CLEAN BEFORE YOU DISCONNECT OR CONNECT THEM. CONTAMINATION ON THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Disconnect the HJ8B harness electrical connector (3) from EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Disconnect the HJ7 harness electrical connector (4) from EEC channel B (1).
     (c) Disconnect the HJ6B harness electrical connector (5) from EEC channel B (1).
     (d) Disconnect the HJ5B harness electrical connector (6) from EEC channel B (1).
     (e) Disconnect the HJ4B harness electrical connector (7) from EEC channel B (1).
     (f) Disconnect the HJ3B harness electrical connector (8) from EEC channel B (1).
     (g) Disconnect the HJ2B harness electrical connector (9) from EEC channel B (1).
     (h) Disconnect the HJ9B harness electrical connector (19) from EEC channel B (1).
   (2) Remove EEC channel B (1) from the mounting brackets (13):
NOTE: If the two-person alternative method is used, Para. 4.C.(2)(a), Para. 4.C.(2)(b), Para. 4.C.(2)(h) and Para. 4.C.(2)(i) must not be done.
     (a) Install the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EECon EEC channel B (1).
     (b) Install the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EECon the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (c) Remove the bolts (21) and the nuts (22) that connect the retaining cables (23) and (24). The nut and the bolt can be left with the retaining cables.
     (d) Remove the bolts (21) and the nuts (22) that connect the retaining cable (25). The nut and the bolt can be left with the retaining cable.
     (e) Disconnect the cap on connector J9 of the EEC which is tied to the engine. The cap can be unscrewed from the EEC and left tied to the engine.
     (f) Loosen the four bolts (12) that attach EEC channel B (1) to the four mounting brackets (13).
     (g) Remove EEC channel B (1) with its bonding jumpers from the mounting brackets (13).
     (h) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from the 9471M17 STAND, JACK - LRU INSTALL/REMOVE.
     (i) Remove the 956A1616G01 ADAPTER, INSTALL/REMOVE - EEC from EEC channel B (1).
   (3) Install COVER - PROTECTION and CAP - PROTECTION on all the open ports, open tubes, open hoses and connectors.
