A. Do a leak check at the coupling nut of the fuel nozzles as follows:
(2) Disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel injection supply tube at the discharge end of the fuel flow transmitter.
(3) Connect the hose and the adaptor of the 856A1115 CART,NITROGEN-FUEL MANIFOLD PRESSURE CHECK (856A1115G07 or 856A1115G08) to the coupling nut of the fuel injection supply tube.
PRE SB 73-128
(4) Disconnect the drain tubes from the shroud connectors.
(5) Disconnect the shroud connectors from the fuel nozzles to get access to the fuel nozzle coupling nuts.
POST SB 73-128
(6) Disconnect the shroud connectors from the fuel nozzles to get to the fuel nozzle coupling nuts.
END OF SB 73-128
(7) Pressurize the fuel supply manifold.
(8) Stop the nitrogen pressure when all of the remaining fuel is removed from the fuel supply manifold.
(9) Apply a small quantity of leak-tek 160X (Material No.CP2170) to all of the coupling nuts of the fuel nozzle.
(10) Apply a minimum of 15 psi (1.03 bar) of nitrogen to the fuel supply manifold.
(12) Examine the coupling nuts of the fuel nozzles for leaks. The leaks will be shown by bubbles in the leak-tek 160X (Material No.CP2170) .
(13) If leaks are found at the coupling nuts of the nozzles, correct them as follows:
(a) Stop the nitrogen pressure.
(b) Disconnect the coupling nut.
(c) Do an inspection of the ferrule and the seating surfaces (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-30-200-001).
(d) Do steps (6) thru (10) again.
(14) If the coupling nut continues to show leaks, replace the fuel nozzle (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-40-000-001) and (Ref. AMM TASK 73-11-40-400-001).
(16) Isolate the 856A1115 CART,NITROGEN-FUEL MANIFOLD PRESSURE CHECK (856A1115G07 or 856A1115G08). The pressure must not decrease more that 5 psi (0.34 bar) in three minutes.
(17) Disconnect the 856A1115 CART,NITROGEN-FUEL MANIFOLD PRESSURE CHECK (856A1115G07 or 856A1115G08).
(18) Remove the adaptor from the nitrogen cart, (856A1115G07 or 856A1115G08) hose.
(19) Connect the fuel injection supply tube to the fuel supply hose.
(20) TORQUE the coupling nut to between 1100 and 900 lbf.in (12.43 and 10.17 m.daN )
.
PRE SB 73-128
(21) Connect the fuel nozzle shroud connectors to the fuel nozzles and the drain tubes to the fuel nozzle shroud connectors.
(a) Tighten the fuel nozzle connectors by hand plus one-eighth of a turn.
(b) TORQUE the drain tube coupling nuts to between 150 and 135 lbf.in (1.70 and 1.53 m.daN )
.
POST SB 73-128
(22) Connect the fuel nozzle shroud connectors to the fuel nozzles. Tighten the fuel nozzle shroud connectors by hand plus one-eighth of a turn.
END OF SB 73-128
Subtask 73-11-40-410-052-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL WARNING:
DO NOT DRY-MOTOR THE ENGINE NEAR AN OPEN FLAME. THE GASES FROM THE FUEL IN THE COMBUSTOR CAN CAUSE A FIRE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT SUPPLY AIR PRESSURE INTO THE FUEL FLOW TRANSMITTER LINE.
(1) Install the correct adapter and hose from the 856A1115 CART,NITROGEN-FUEL MANIFOLD PRESSURE CHECK (856A1115G07 or 856A1115G08).

WARNING:
DO NOT PRESSURIZE THE FUEL SUPPLY MANIFOLD NEAR AN OPEN FLAME. A FIRE CAN OCCUR.
(a) Apply between 80 psi (5.51 bar) and 100 psi (6.90 bar) to the supply manifold.
NOTE: The nozzle check valves usually open at 15 psi (1.03 bar) to 30 psi (2.06 bar). More than 60 psi (4.13 bar) is permitted.
(11) Slowly increase the pressure until it becomes stable at a pressure that opens one of the fuel nozzle check valves.
