Installation of the Fan Rotor Blades [CFMI]

TASK 72-21-00-400-003-A
Installation of the Fan Rotor Blades

CAUTION: ALL FAN ROTOR BLADES SHALL BE MATCHMARKED OR NUMBERED FOR ASSEMBLY IN ORIGINAL ALIGNMENT AND POSITION USING ONLY APPROVED MARKING MATERIAL.
CAUTION: DO NOT DISSOCIATE FAN BLADE PAIRS MATCHED DURING ORIGINAL ASSEMBLY. BLADES FROM A SAME PAIR MUST ALWAYS BE LOCATED 180 DEGREES APART.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL IF THESE MARKS ARE SHOWN ON THE HUB OF THE REWORKED FAN DISK: "SHIMS REQUIRED" AND "DISK REPAIRED". DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW CORRECT PROCEDURES FOR ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL IF YOU REPLACE FAN BLADES IN A COMPLETE SET, DO NOT MIX OLD FAN BLADES AND NEW RECAMBERED FAN BLADES ON A SAME FAN DISK (FAN BLADES PRE CFM56 SB 72-0123 AND FAN BLADES POST CFM56 SB 72-0123), BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT BLADE ANGLES.

4. Procedure
Subtask 72-21-00-420-052-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL IF YOU REPLACE FAN BLADES IN A COMPLETE SET, DO NOT MIX OLD FAN BLADES AND NEW RECAMBERED FAN BLADES ON A SAME FAN DISK (FAN BLADES PRE CFM56 SB 72-0123 AND FAN BLADES POST CFM56 SB 72-0123), BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT BLADE ANGLES.
CAUTION: THE FAN BLADES ARE KEPT IN NUMERICAL ORDER ON THE STORAGE STAND AND MUST BE INSTALLED ACCORDINGLY ON THE FAN DISK. BLADE No. 1 MUST BE INSTALLED IMMEDIATELY ABOVE THE OFFSET HOLE ON THE FAN DISK BOLT FLANGE. NUMBERS ARE GIVEN COUNTERCLOCKWISE, FORWARD LOOKING AFT.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE FAN BLADES, MAKE SURE THAT ALL DAMPERS ARE CORRECTLY INSTALLED UNDER EACH BLADE PLATFORM.
CAUTION: AFTER A BLADE MAPPING USING CFMI SOFTWARE (856A3770P03), IF THE BLADE PAIR MOMENT WEIGHT DIFFERENCE IS ABOVE THE PAIR CRITERIA, ON CONDITION THAT THE FINAL BLADE SET IS WITHIN TOLERANCES, THE BLADE SET IS SERVICEABLE. FOR FUTURE REPLACEMENT OF BLADES, DO A CHECK OF THE PAIR CRITERIA AND, IF NECESSARY, DO A STATIC CORRECTION PROCEDURE.
A. Install the blades as follows:
NOTE: In case of complete blade set replacement, do a blade mapping with 856A3770 CFMI SOFTWARE FOR BLADE MAPPING.

PRE SB CFM 72-0621

NOTE: This procedure is for ENGINES PRE CFM56 SB 72-0621 with a non-reworked fan disk only.
NOTE: The installation hole No. 1 on the booster spool forward flange is identified by 2 lateral spherical indentations.
NOTE: Installation of the blade and blade spacer is easier if the related disk slot and recess are in the 6 o'clock position.
   (1) Apply lubricant Molykote U-n (Material No.CP2171) or MoS_2 dry film lubricant (Material No.CP5062) to the mid-span shrouds, the roots, the platform mating surfaces under the platform, the antiwear shields of dampers and the disk slots.
NOTE: You must apply a large quantity of lubricant to all the dovetail and slot pressure faces. Brush application is preferred. If you use spray application, a minimum of 4 to 6 passes is necessary to supply all the pressure faces with sufficient lubrication. Let the lubricant become dry to a dull opaque finish before you install the blades in the disk slots.
   (2) Move the blade (110) rearward into the slot of the the disk (80). Then, move the blade radially outward to engage the mid-span shroud with the adjacent blades.

END OF PRE SB CFM 72-0621

POST SB CFM 72-0621

NOTE: This procedure is for ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621 with a reworked fan disk only.
NOTE: The installation hole No. 1 on the booster spool forward flange is identified by 2 lateral spherical indentations.
NOTE: Installation of the blade and blade spacer is easier if the related disk slot and recess are in the 6 o'clock position.
   (3) Apply lubricant Molykote U-n (Material No.CP2171) or dow corning G-n metal assembly (Material No.CP2569) or MoS_2 dry film lubricant (Material No.CP5062) to the mid-span shrouds, the roots, the shims, the platform mating surfaces under the platform, the antiwear shields of dampers and the disk slots.
   (4) If the shim is removed:
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THESE MARKS ARE SHOWN ON THE HUB OF THE FAN DISK: "SHIMS REQUIRED" AND "DISK REPAIRED". DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW CORRECT PROCEDURES FOR ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE THE SHIMS. THEY ARE THIN AND ARE EASILY DAMAGED. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SHIMS FROM THE FAN BLADE ROOTS. THE COATING ON THE FAN BLADES AND THE SHIMS IS EASILY DAMAGED. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
     (a) install a shim (130) on the root of the fan blade (110) before you install it.
   (5) Move the blade (110) with its shim (130) rearward into the reworked fan disk (120) slot. Then, move the blade radially outward to engage the mid-span shroud with the adjacent blades.
