   (4) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 1M (3 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position.
   (5) Install MAT - PROTECTIVE in the lower half of the inlet cowl.
4. Procedure
Subtask 72-21-00-020-075-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REPLACE AN INDIVIDUAL FAN BLADE, DO NOT MIX OLD FAN BLADES AND NEW RECAMBERED FAN BLADES ON A SAME FAN DISK (FAN BLADES PRE CFM56 SB 72-0123 AND FAN BLADES POST CFM56 SB 72-0123), BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT BLADE ANGLES.
A. Record moment weight of blades.
NOTE: If pairs of fan blades are not available as spare, you can replace one blade individually when the difference between the moment weight of the blade removed and its opposite is not greater than 800 cm.g (315 in.g). However the inspections and corrections given below must be done before and after the fan blade installation to make sure the engine vibration is not more than the limits. This will also optimize the engine operation. Three conditions can exist; refer to the logic dynamic.
NOTE: In all cases of individual blade replacement, remove its opposite to record the moment weight of the opposite blade.
   (1) Put a MAT - RUBBER in the air intake cowl.
   (2) Remove the spinner front cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-000-001).
   (3) Remove the spinner rear cone (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-000-002).
   (4) Remove the balance screws and record their locations.
   (5) Record moment weight of removed blade.
NOTE: For ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621, you must write also moment weight of the shim installed on the root of the removed fan blade.
   (6) Remove fan blade:
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL IF THESE MARKS ARE SHOWN ON THE HUB OF THE REWORKED FAN DISK: "SHIMS REQUIRED" AND "DISK REPAIRED". DAMAGE CAN OCCUR IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW CORRECT PROCEDURES FOR ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621.
CAUTION: FOR ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621, BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU HANDLE THE SHIMS. THEY ARE THIN AND ARE EASILY DAMAGED. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH FORCE WHEN YOU REMOVE THE SHIMS FROM THE FAN BLADE ROOTS. THE COATING ON THE FAN BLADES AND THE SHIMS IS EASILY DAMAGED. OBEY THESE INSTRUCTIONS OR YOU WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
     (a) Remove fan blade (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-000-003).

B. Record the moment weight of the spare blade and install the fan blade.
   (1) Record the moment weight of the blade to be installed.
NOTE: For ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621, you must also write the moment weight of the shim installed on the root of the fan blade to be installed.
   (2) Do a check and record the moment weight difference between the blade to be installed and the opposite blade.
     (a) If the quantity of individual blade changes is less than or equal to three and if the moment weight with the opposite blade is less than 200 cm.g (80 in.g):
       1 No correction is necessary.
2 Install the spare blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-400-003).
3 A vibration survey is not necessary.
     (b) If the difference between the moment weights "D" is more than 200 cm.g (80 in.g), do as follows:
1 Do a static correction procedure (refer to Para. C.) or do a blade mapping with the 856A3770 CFMI SOFTWARE FOR BLADE MAPPING.
2 Install the spare blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-400-003).
       3 Go to Para. D.
     (c) If you change more than three fan blades, do as follows:
1 Do a static correction procedure (refer to Para. C.) or do a blade mapping with the 856A3770 CFMI SOFTWARE FOR BLADE MAPPING.
2 Install the spare blades (Ref. AMM TASK 72-21-00-400-003).
       3 Go to Para. D.
Subtask 72-21-00-750-054-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
C. Static correction procedure. Determine the balance screws to be installed.
CAUTION: FOR ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621 WITH REWORKED FAN DISK, BE CAREFUL TO TAKE IN CONSIDERATION THE MOMENT WEIGHTS OF SHIMS INSTALLED ON FAN BLADES ROOT.
   (1) Assume a blade with moment weight of 162750 cm.g (64075 in.g) is to be replaced in any position.
NOTE: For ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621, this moment weight includes the moment weight of shim installed on the removal fan blade root.
   (2) A spare blade is provided with moment weight of 163296 cm.g (64,290 in.g).
NOTE: For ENGINES POST CFM56 SB 72-0621, this moment weight includes the moment weight of shim installed on the spare fan blade root.
   (3) Calculate the difference between the moment weights as below:
163296 - 162750 = 546 cm.g (215 in.g).
   (4) Select balance screws as follows:
     (a) To determine the solutions closest to above difference of 546 cm.g (215 in.g). One centered screw P05 and 2 lateral screws P01 = 541 cm.g (213 in.g). This "correction A" permits a satisfactory correction for returning the fan close to its initial balance condition.
   (5) Locate balance screws as follows:
     (a) If the new blade is heavier than the removed blade, install the balance screws close to the opposite blade.
     (b) If the new blade is lighter than the removed blade, install the balance screw close to the removed blade.
   (6) Install the balance screws.
NOTE: The balance screws are identified by a number corresponding to their moment weight (P01-P02-P03-P04-P05-P06-P07) engraved on the screw head. As it may be difficult to read the numbers due to erosion and pollution, the relationship between the screw reference and the screw length is shown in the figure.
