Subtask 71-71-49-941-054-A
A. Safety Precautions
   (1) On the center pedestal, on ENG panel 115VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ENG/MODE selector switch is in the NORM position.
     (b) Make sure that the ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch was in the OFF position not less than five minutes before you do this procedure.
     (c) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate:
  • The ENG/MODE selector switch
  • The ENG/MASTER 1(2) control switch.
   (2) On the ENG section of maintenance panel 50VU:
     (a) Make sure that the ON legend of the FADEC GND PWR/1(2) pushbutton switch is off.
     (b) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to energize FADEC 1(2).

   (1) Open the fan cowl doors (Ref. AMM TASK 71-13-00-010-803):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

   (2) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 1M(3 FT) in position under the right fan cowl cowl door.

C. Deactivation of the Thrust Reverser System for Maintenance
WARNING: YOU MUST DEACTIVATE THE THRUST REVERSER BEFORE YOU DO WORK ON OR AROUND IT. IF YOU DO NOT, THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OPERATE ACCIDENTALLY AND CAUSE AN INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE.
   (1) Do the deactivation of the thrust reverser system for nacelle maintenance (Ref. AMM TASK 78-30-00-040-807).

D. Get Access
   (1) Open the thrust reverser cowl-doors (Ref. AMM TASK 78-36-00-010-806):
     (a) FOR [4020KM1] (POWER PLANT-DEMOUNTABLE, ENGINE 1)

4. Procedure
Subtask 71-71-49-020-053-A
A. Removal of the Fan Case Drain Tubes
   (1) Put the CONTAINER - STORAGE below the drain hose to catch any fluid remaining in the hose.
   (2) Remove tube (27) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (30) from the port (29) on the gearbox (28).
     (b) Remove the bolts (22), (31), and (34) that attach the P-clamps (21), (32), (33) to the support brackets (20), (35), and (36).
     (c) Disconnect the tube (27) from the fan drain mast (26).
     (d) Remove the tube (27) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (21), (32), and (33) on the tube (27) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (21), (32), and (33) from the tube (27).
   (3) Remove tube (25) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (42) from the port (49) on the gearbox (28).
     (b) Remove the two bolts (46) that attach the tube clamp (45) to the support bracket (47).
     (c) Disconnect the tube (25) from the fan drain mast (26).
     (d) Remove the tube (25) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the tube clamp (45) on the tubes (23), (24), and (25) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the tube clamp (45) from the tubes (23), (24), and (25).
   (4) Remove tube (24) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (38) from the port (37) on the gearbox (28).
     (b) Remove the bolt (44) that attaches the tube clamp (43) to the support bracket (48).
     (c) Remove the bolt (40) that attaches the P-clamp (39) to the support bracket (41).
     (d) Disconnect the tube (24) from the fan drain mast (26).
     (e) Remove the tube (24) from the engine.
     (f) Make a record of the location and position of the tube clamp (43) and P-clamp (39) on the tube (24) to help during installation.
     (g) Remove the tube clamp (43) from the tube (24) and tube (23).
     (h) Remove the P-clamp (39) from the tube (24).
   (5) Remove tube (23) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (51) from the port (50) on the gearbox (28).
     (b) Remove the bolts (52), (56), and (58) that attach the P-clamps (54), (55), and (59) to the support bracket (53), (57), and (60).
     (c) Disconnect the tube (23) from the fan drain mast (26).
     (d) Remove the tube (23) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (54), (55), and (59) on the tube (23) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (54), (55), and (59) from the tube (23).
   (6) Remove tube (7) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (8) from the oil tank (9).
     (b) Remove the bolts (6), (5), (17), (16), and (14) that attach the P-clamps (2), (4), (18), (11), and (13) to the support brackets (1), (3), (10), (12), and (15).
     (c) Disconnect the tube (7) from the fan drain mast (26).
     (d) Remove the tube (7) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (2), (4), (18), (11), and (13) on the tube (7) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (2), (4), (18), (11), and (13) from the tube (7).
   (7) Remove the fan drain mast (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-41-000-802).
   (8) Install protective covers and protective caps on all open connectors and receptacles.
Subtask 71-71-49-020-054-A
B. Removal of the Left-Hand Core Drain Tubes
   (1) Put the CONTAINER - STORAGE below the drain hose to catch any fluid remaining in the hose.
   (2) Remove tubes (77), (80), and (96) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (83) of the tube (77) from the VSV (84).
     (b) Disconnect the coupling nut (82) from the tube (80).
     (c) Remove the tube (77) from the engine.
     (d) Remove the bolt (79) that attaches the P-clamp (78) and the tube (80).
     (e) Disconnect the hydraulic coupling (81) from the MTCC and VBV valves.
     (f) Disconnect the coupling nut (95) from the tube (96).
     (g) Remove the tube (80) from the engine.
     (h) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (78) on the tube (80) to help during installation.
     (i) Remove the P-clamp (78) from the tube (80).
     (j) Remove the bolt (98) that attaches the P-clamp (97) and the tube (96) to the support bracket (102).
     (k) Disconnect the coupling nut (117) from the tube (114).
     (l) Disconnect the coupling nut (144) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (m) Remove the tube (96) from the engine.
     (n) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (97) on the tube (96) to help during installation.
     (o) Remove the P-clamp (97) from the tube (96).
   (3) Remove tubes (106) and (99) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (109) of the tube (106) from the A-Sump drain.
     (b) Remove the bolts (107) and (104) that attach the P-clamps (108) and (105).
     (c) Disconnect the coupling nut (103).
     (d) Remove the tube (106) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (108) and (105) on the tube (106) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (108) and (105) from the tube (106).
     (g) Remove the bolt (101) that attaches the P-clamp (100) and the tube (99) to the support bracket (102).
     (h) Disconnect the coupling nut (143) of the tube (99) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (i) Remove the tube (99) from the engine.
     (j) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (100) on the tube (99) to help during installation.
     (k) Remove the P-clamp (100) from the tube (99).
   (4) Remove tubes (129) and (134) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the hydraulic connection (126) of the tube (129) from the B-Sump drain.
     (b) Disconnect the coupling nut (128) of the tube (129) from the B-Sump drain.
     (c) Remove the bolts (133) and (131) that attach the P-clamps (132) and (130) to the support bracket (127).
     (d) Disconnect the coupling nut (135).
     (e) Remove the tube (129) from the engine.
     (f) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (132) and (130) on the tube (129) to help during installation.
     (g) Remove the P-clamps (132) and (130) from the tube (129).
     (h) Disconnect the tube (134) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (i) Remove the tube (134) from the engine.
   (5) Remove tubes (72), (110), (166), and (114) as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (73) from the HPTACC (71).
     (b) Remove the bolts (86), (88), and (90) that attach the P-clamps (85), (87), and (89).
     (c) Disconnect the coupling nut (91) from the tube (110).
     (d) Remove the tube (72) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (85), (87), and (89) on the tube (72) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (85), (87), and (89) from the tube (72).
     (g) Disconnect the coupling nut (165) of the tube (110) from the LPTACC tube (166).
     (h) Remove the bolt (112) that attaches the P-clamp (111) to the support bracket (122).
     (i) Disconnect the coupling nut (113) of the tube (110) from the tube (114).
     (j) Remove the tube (110) from the engine.
     (k) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (111) on the tube (110) to help during installation.
     (l) Remove the P-clamp (111) from the tube (110).
     (m) Remove the bolts (119) and (116) that attach the P-clamps (120) and (115) to the support bracket (121) and (118).
     (n) Remove the tube (114) from the engine.
     (o) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (120) and (115) on the tube (114) to help during installation.
     (p) Remove the P-clamps (120) and (115) from the tube (114).
   (6) Remove tubes (70), (150), and (137) of the LHS pylon drain line as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (75) of the tube (70) from the pylon drain (76).
     (b) Remove the bolt (171) that attaches the P-clamp (170) to the support bracket (175).
     (c) Remove the bolt (173) that attaches the P-clamp (172) to the support bracket (174).
     (d) Remove the bolt (159) that attaches the P-clamp (158) to the support bracket (164).
     (e) Disconnect the coupling nut (161) of the tube (150) from the tube (70).
     (f) Remove the tube (70) from the engine.
     (g) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (170), (172), and (158) on the tube (70) to help during installation.
     (h) Remove the P-clamps (170), (172), and (158) from the tube (70).
     (i) Remove the bolt (163) that attaches the P-clamp (162) and the tube (150).
     (j) Remove the bolt (149) that attaches the P-clamp (148) and the tube (150) to the support bracket (151).
     (k) Disconnect the coupling nut (152) of the tube (150) from the tube (137).
     (l) Remove the tube (150) from the engine.
     (m) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (162) and (148) on the tube (150) to help during installation.
     (n) Remove the P-clamps (162) and (148) from the tube (150).
     (o) Remove the bolts (154) and (139) that attach the P-clamps (153) and (138) and the tube (137) to the support brackets (155) and (136).
     (p) Disconnect the coupling nut (140) of the tube (137) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (q) Remove the tube (137) from the engine.
     (r) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (153) and (138) on the tube (137) to help during installation.
     (s) Remove the P-clamps (153) and (138) from the tube (137).
   (7) Install protective covers and protective caps on all open connectors and receptacles.
Subtask 71-71-49-020-055-A
C. Removal of the Right-Hand Core Drain Tubes

   (1) Put the CONTAINER - STORAGE below the drain hose to catch any fluid remaining in the hose.
   (2) Remove the tube (270) of the pylon drain as follow:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (271) of the tube (270) from the pylon.
     (b) Disconnect the coupling nut (269) from the tube (192).
     (c) Remove the tube (270) from the engine.

PRE-SPOL BD-EBU-17003 AND PRE SB BD70CR71-031

   (3) Remove the tubes (196) and (213) of the RHS pylon drain line as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (193) of the tube (192) from the tube (196).
     (b) Remove the bolt (195) that attaches the P-clamp (194).
     (c) Remove the bolt (217) that attaches the P-clamp (218) to the support bracket (216).
     (d) Disconnect the coupling nut (211) of the tube (196) from the tube (213).
     (e) Remove the tube (196) from the engine.
     (f) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (194) and (218) on the tube (196) to help during installation.
     (g) Remove the P-clamps (194) and (218) from the tube (196).
     (h) Remove the bolt (214) that attaches the P-clamp (215) to the support bracket (212).
     (i) Remove the bolt (260) that attaches the P-clamp (261) to the support bracket (262).
     (j) Disconnect the coupling nut (259) of the tube (213) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (k) Remove the tube (213) from the engine.
     (l) Make a record of the location and positions of the P-clamps (215) and (261) on the tube (213) to help during installation.
     (m) Remove the P-clamps (215) and (261) from the tube (213).

POST SPOL BD-EBU-17003 AND POST SB BD70CR71-031

   (4) Remove the tube (196) of the RHS pylon drain line as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (193) of the tube (192) from the tube (196).
     (b) Remove the bolt (195) that attaches the P-clamp (194).
     (c) Remove the bolt (217) that attaches the P-clamp (218) to the support bracket (216).
     (d) Remove the P-clamps (194) and (218) from the tube (196).
     (e) Remove the bolt (214) that attaches the P-clamp (215) to the support bracket (212).
     (f) Remove the bolt (260) that attaches the P-clamp (261) to the support bracket (262).
     (g) Disconnect the coupling nut (259) of the tube (196) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (h) Remove the tube (196) from the engine.
     (i) Make a record of the location and positions of the P-clamps (194), (218), (215) and (261) on the tube (196) to help during installation.
     (j) Remove the P-clamps (215) and (261) from the tube (196).

   (5) Remove the tube (185) of the SBV-BAI drain line as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (186) of the tube (185) from the SBV (189).
     (b) Remove the bolt (237) that attaches the P-clamp (238).
     (c) Disconnect the coupling nut (222) of the tube (185) from tube (187).
     (d) Remove the tube (185) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (238) on the tube (185) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamp (238) from the tube (185).

PRE-SPOL BD-EBU-17008

   (6) Remove the tubes (224), (275), (231), (246) and (249) of the VSV, MTC and VBV RHS drain lines as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (226) of tube (224) from the VSV drain.
     (b) Disconnect the connection (225) of tube (224) from the VSV drain.
     (c) Disconnect coupling nut (266) that connects tube (224) to tube (275).
     (d) Remove the bolt (230) that attaches the P-clamp (229).
     (e) Disconnect the coupling nut (223) of tube (275) from tube (231).
     (f) Remove the tube (224) and tube (275) from the engine.
     (g) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (229) on the tube (275) to help during installation.
     (h) Remove the P-clamp (229) from the tube (275).
     (i) Disconnect the coupling nut (242) of the tube (246) from the VBV drain.
     (j) Remove the bolt (244) that attaches the P-clamp (243) to the support bracket (245).
     (k) Disconnect the coupling nut (247) of the tube (246) from tube (231).
     (l) Remove the tube (246) from the engine.
     (m) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (243) on the tube (246) to help during installation.
     (n) Remove the P-clamp (243) from the tube (246).
     (o) Remove the bolts (252) and (250) that attach the P-clamps (253) and (251) on the tube (231).
     (p) Disconnect the coupling nut (248) of the tube (249) from tube (231).
     (q) Remove the tube (231) from the engine.
     (r) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (253) and (251) on the tube (231) to help during installation.
     (s) Remove the P-clamps (253) and (251) from the tube (231).
     (t) Remove the bolt (264) that attaches the P-clamp (265) on the tube (249) to the support bracket (255).
     (u) Remove the bolt (257) that attaches the P-clamp (256) on the tube (249).
     (v) Disconnect the coupling nut (258) of the tube (249) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (w) Remove the tube (249) from the engine.
     (x) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (265) and (256) on the tube (249) to help during installation.
     (y) Remove the P-clamps (265) and (256) from the tube (249).

POST-SPOL BD-EBU-17008

   (7) Remove the tubes (224), (231), (246) and (249) of the VSV and VBV RHS drain lines as follows:
     (a) Disconnect the coupling nut (226) of the tube (224) from the VSV drain.
     (b) Remove the bolt (230) that attaches the P-clamp (229).
     (c) Disconnect the coupling nut (223) of the tube (224) from tube (231).
     (d) Remove the tube (224) from the engine.
     (e) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (229) on the tube (224) to help during installation.
     (f) Remove the P-clamps (229) from the tube (224).
     (g) Disconnect the coupling nut (242) of the tube (246) from the VBV drain.
     (h) Remove the bolt (244) that attaches the P-clamp (243) to the support bracket (245).
     (i) Disconnect the coupling nut (247) of the tube (246) from tube (231).
     (j) Remove the tube (246) from the engine.
     (k) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamp (243) on the tube (246) to help during installation.
     (l) Remove the P-clamp (243) from the tube (246).
     (m) Remove the bolts (252) and (250) that attach the P-clamps (253) and (251) on the tube (231).
     (n) Disconnect the coupling nut (248) of the tube (249) from tube (231).
     (o) Remove the tube (231) from the engine.
     (p) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (253) and (251) on the tube (231) to help during installation.
     (q) Remove the P-clamps (253) and (251) from the tube (231).
     (r) Remove the bolt (264) that attaches the P-clamp (265) on the tube (249) to the support bracket (255).
     (s) Remove the bolt (257) that attaches the P-clamp (256) on the tube (249).
     (t) Disconnect the coupling nut (258) of the tube (249) from the core drain mast (142) (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
     (u) Remove the tube (249) from the engine.
     (v) Make a record of the location and position of the P-clamps (265) and (256) on the tube (249) to help during installation.
     (w) Remove the P-clamps (265) and (256) from the tube (249).

   (8) Remove the core drain mast (Ref. AMM TASK 71-71-42-000-802).
